Are Elders waking up to TTATT?

The obvious answer to that is: Yes! JWN has a number of former elders who awakened to TTATT while they held their position, and a handful of current elders who help provide needed intel.

In my former hall, I know of an elder I liked who moved to another state. Later, I learned he and his wife had faded, and both of his grown sons know TTATT as well.

In a hall I attended 25 years ago, an elder learned TTATT and resigned. Though physically still attending meetings, he is mentally free. He posts here occasionally.

This weekend, I met with a former elder from my old circuit who was traveling through town. Two years ago, he was a rising star in the circuit and went from giving the memorial talk to—poof! Vanishing into thin air--or rather moved away and never told the elder body where he was going.

I’ve heard it said (though I suppose the numbers cannot be confirmed) that over the last two decades, the number of elders has declined by a third. Some are those are still asleep…but how many know TTATT? Probably more than we think!

    I hope so

There are a hand full of them that I'd love to see out!

HOW CAN THEY NOT BE WAKING UP???

People have to be asking questions, and I can guarantee these janitors don't have the answers.

I'm hoping this latest one day KM school has them thinking...combined with October's "new light" on the "Slave".

I think a lot of them are.

    True story:

I was talking to one of the elders in my hall when I was first starting to fade. He is THE ELDER WHO CARES. I was frustrated about the fact that you just can’t leave. I was telling him how unhappy I was and that I wanted out. He said something to the effect that was basically JW spiel, “your heart is treacherous…etc”. Then mid sentence he said: “Do you know how many people I have seen leave and live wonderful lives? If it was not for my XYZ, I would not be here…” and then right back to the JW spiel. My jaw dropped!

I have a sinking feeling he IS awake…and I hope he is one of those who are working on the inside. I hope he is here. (I am grateful for him because for some reason I think he’s keeping the wolves at bay for me.)

I have another relative who is an elder WHO LISTENS to me and actually admits he agrees with what I am saying. So yes…but it must be hard walking in those shoes.

In my experience ? .....No, sorry .

In the years that I have been out (mentally at least and "inactive") there must have been half a dozen different ones that I have talked with, either officially or as old friends by email. None of them wanted to put me out but none could answer my questions . It did not matter, the points I raised did not penetrate the permafrost of their closed and blinkered minds.

They just decided, I guess, that I was beyond their help because they did not want to carry on with it very long. They seem happy to live the life, whether the beliefs stand up or not.

In my experience, I think most elders would agree "something is not quite right".

However, they are, as the saying goes, "captives of a concept". They've invested too much of their lives in it for it to be wrong, so it has to be right.

So they chalk up that "something not quite right" to "Satan's attacks", or "human imperfection", or what not, and just mumble "wait on Jehovah".

The ones who bleat the loudest about "how wonderful the truth is", in my estimation, are trying to convince themselves of that more than anyone else.

Obviously, the majority will likely stick with the Org and we cannot expect a mass exodus. The ones that remain will likely be more hardcore and less emphatic. Of course, the former elder I talked with this weekend told me how hardcore he used to be.

I think mnay are on notice that something doesn't seem alright in NY with all the constant re-wording of doctrine. And that's where it ends. By the time a person is appointed an elder, they are very deep into the orginazation and thje orginazation is deep into their life. It's like seperating twins, except the WT makes sure that u are the twin that dies at separation

Yes, I believe many are waking up. I was one of them.
