yea... I use to play all the time with Joseph emery/kenny and berrick. We were playing in the evening and we would sneak in the illegal dunks. I got caught by that idiot Dennis carey and got kicked out the gym for 3 months. I still want to beat his face in

Anyone else an Ex Bethel "volunteer"
by BackseatDevil ini was wondering if there were any other ex-bethelites on here.
i personally regularly went for temporary work at brooklyn then was assigned to the farm for a year and a half.
it was... one of the most bizaare experiences of my life.. so i wrote it all down (finally, after some 15 years) so i won't bore anyone on here with the details of the story - because bethel doesn't show up until chapter 15... and for you straight folks, it gets a bit gay in two places... but nothing gross.

just a paraphrase but something to the effect that pedophiles being repeat offenders is a demon inspired expression.
if this tape comes out that he said this it would be very damning. Also it will help me out because like an asshole I told a devout jw it was said and he called me liar lol.
I guess I am rofl

Former Long Time Elder - Judicial Committees
by James Jackson inwhen i first was appointed as an elder, i could not wait to be on a judicial committee.
it semed like most hearings invovled middle age men and women cheating on their mates because either they had married early or felt that were being neglected by their mate.
most times i felt i need to take a long hot shower after a hearing.. the toughest part was seeing these sweet young children grow up in "the truth", and now you are about to judge their future based on their repentance.

@ sd-7 - I am sorry you still have those feelings for people who once served as elders, but you have to remember that the same way you were bamboozled into thinking that this org was the best way to go and its rules were what god wanted - most elders feel the same until they have the realization that it may not be so.
I know I personally did follow that rulebook to the letter and I at times felt that it was harsh but I would always refer to the scripture that states God's thoughts are higher than ours so I would always write my doubts off as me not being holy enough to see things Gods' way. I am sorry for what happened to you but we are all just victims of a corrupt religious system.

Is it possible that the points were misunderstood or something?
Those were some pretty powerful statements alledged to have been made - I would think people would be all over this

@jwfact - " but at least it opened my eyes, and gave me the foundation to be able to do what I do now to help people leave. "
That is the way i feel about it as well. It is almost as if they ensure that you do not learn any trade during your first 5 years or so there that you can utilize if you left early. They force you to devote the best years of your life doing the most menial of tasks. Once they feel you rely on them for life they may throw you a bone and put you somewhere that isn't so useless as the cleaning department or being a waiter.
Whenever brothers would encourage me to talk to the young brothers about Bethel I would tell them directly, "If you want to go it is up to you, there are alot of thigs you could do. However if you plan on getting married (Like every young single JDub does) I would not suggest you go there because you have to wait 5 or 10 years before you can." LOL

Gerrit Loesch was at our DC today!
by goatshapeddemon inso, unexpectedly, the final talk was announced today and to my surprise and evil glee, they announced gerrit loesch as the speaker!
first off, at the beginning of his talk, he interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence to scold the microphone brother to lower my mike it's right in my face.. anyway, it was the talk on inspired truth, vs. inspired falsehoods.
he went through 6 expressions inspired by the demons.

Why is God speaking in riddles?
by sosoconfused init seems for most of the bible that god spoke directly to people and told them what to do.
he wrote things on rocks.
he gave them laws.
