i noted in a thread on kingdom hall remodelling that some mentioned that a call for donations of gold jewellery was made from the platform.
since this sounds like something that would have been presented by a part on the service meeting and therefore noted in the kingdom ministry schedule, can anyone recall the specifics of this?
if so, how recently?

The Watchtower has always shown too much interest in property and wealth.
Probably those things are what keeps it going.
Without them, The Watchtower as an organization would have vanished long ago.
2 elders, the cobe and his sidekick, a former bethelite and a young ms (elder in waiting) stopped by my mom's home while i was visiting with her.
they were very congenial and eventually asked me if i got invited to the memorial and whether they could arrange a future visit with me and a possible study.
i thanked them and told them i appreciated their invitation but that i was going to "pass at this time" but thanked them for their concern.. they recited a "wonderful experience" about a young man that was raised in the "truth" but wanted out so he decided to go to asia where he could not be found by witnesses.
Jehovah's Witnesses do NOT conduct Bible Studies.
They conduct Watchtower Indoctrination Sessions using Watchtower published "Bible Study Aids"!
A person is considered a teachable sheep if they accept everything they are told without questioning.

What a contrast in outlook there is between those who are part of the Christian congregation and those who are not! Even though we as Jehovah’s people have to face many of the same issues and problems our neighbors face, our reaction is quite different. (Isa. 65:13, 14) Why? Because we find in the Bible a satisfying explanation for the condition in which humanity finds itself, and we are equipped to deal with life’s challenges and problems. As a result, we are not overly anxious about the future. Being worshippers of Jehovah affords us protection from unsound and unscriptural reasoning, immoral practices, and the consequences of such. Members of the Christian congregation thus experience a tranquillity unknown to others.—Isa. 48:17, 18; Phil. 4:6, 7. w10 6/15 1:6

If one sees a picture of some parents with their childern one sees TWO generations that are contempoary with each other (that is, living at the same time).
But The Watchtower tries to convince everyone that it is only one generation!
So what is The Watchtower trying to pull off here?
Torturing the definition of "generation" to suit its own purposes?
Insulting everyone's intelligence?

Simply put....Judge Rutherford and The Bible Students didn't know what they were talking about!
It didn't matter if "Millions Now Living will Never Die" was true or not, if it was a fact or not, all Rutherford and The Watchtower cared about was increasing the number of their followers!
"Millions Now Living" was an advertising slogan used to catch people's attention!
