  apparently, at some assembly halls they are removing the pay phones and replacing them with their own phone lines - with a contribution box next to it.. you may already know about district assemblies where they put 'out of order' signs.

  on working vending machines to prevent the rank and file from using them.. how much money do they expect to make from this?

  they are trying to hustle pocket change!.

  I have heard of this, and I think it has been going on for quite awhile. Wouldn't people wonder why ALL the vending machines went on the blink at the same time? Also, saying a machine is "out of order" when it is not is a form of lying! Or don't they think the people have a right to know if the machines are working?I have heard that brothers are stationed near the machines, to keep people from putting money in them, and they have been known to physically push people away from the machines if they see them about to put money in them. --VM44

  A real milestone was reached, therefore, in 1925, when The Watch Tower of March 1 featured the article "Birth of the Nation." It presented an eye-opening study of Revelation chapter 12. The article set forth evidence that the Messianic Kingdom had been born--established--in 1914, that Christ had then begun to rule on his heavenly throne, and that thereafter Satan had been hurled from heaven down to the vicinity of the earth. This was the good news that was to be proclaimed, the news that God's Kingdom was already in operation. How this enlightened understanding stimulated these Kingdom proclaimers to preach to the ends of the earth!"

  Here it is! Outlined in bold! The statement of the Gospel according to the Watchtower (and published years before they took on the name "Jehovah's Witnesses"!) The doctrine that defines the JWs was established during the Rutherford years. This proves that C.T. Russell was not the founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

  "judge" rutherford had only one son, named malcolm, who appears to have never said anything about his father.

  this is strange.

  one would think that someone would have interviewed malcolm about rutherford, if at least to ask him how he viewed rutherford.

  Reading the above one wonders what kind of relationship Rutherford had with his family. With respect to Rutherford's San Diego home, Beth Sarim, there has never been mention of his son or wife residing there with him, or residing with him at the Brooklyn headquaters either.

  Obviously, an estranged relationship existed between Rutherford and his wife and son. But the question still remains...why did Malcolm refuse to speak about his father, even 40 years after he had died?

  Awhile ago there was mention in this forum that a biography of Rutherford was being written, does anyone know who is writing it? --VM44

  I also would like to know what they mean by "... directed by his spirit, but not inspired,..." Do they mean that in general they are directed by the Holy Spirit, but do not hold them on any one issue? That would be a kind of "statistical" direction. The WT would then have to say that "in general, statistically, we are directed by holy spirit, but as for specific matters, we might have to use our human wisdom." This might be what they mean, but I doubt if they would ever explain it like that. --VM44

  i find this on an jw site, its about the ub issu.. 1991, one of the legal corporations of the wts registered with the united nations as an ngo for the sole purpose of getting access to the extensive library of the united nations.

  this enabled a writer who received an identification card, to enter the library, to enter the library for research purposes and to obtain information that has been used in writing articles in our journals about the united nations.

  there was nothing secret about it.

  Didn't the Watchtower Society go beyond just using the UN library facilities? Didn't the WT make use of opportunities which the UN made available to all NGOs registered with it? --VM44
