Is there no news because the WT insisted on non-disclosure as part of the settlement?
I recall reading that the attorney who obtained this settlement was listing it as one of his accomplishments, but then removed mention of this case from his webpage at the law firm employing him.

Everything revolves around what benifits the Watchtower, individuals do not matter.
College education is bad, to be discouraged, unless the Watchtower needs lawyers, then college/law school is OK.
First Amendment rights are fought for when it comes to Watchtower sanctioned activities, but these same rights to not apply to individuals within the WT Society.
The Watchtower is selfish!

*many* ex-jws say that they were robbed of an education due to the wtbts and as a result, they feel that their families and the wt screwed up their life by depriving them of the opportunity to go to college and therefore, earn a high salary at a job they love.
here is a link to the us census which shows that approximately 26% of the us population graduates college.
page 5, towards the bottom, shows the college graduation stats.
This is why parents who base their lives on God's prophetic Word find it much more practical to direct their young ones into trades that do not require such long periods of additional schooling.
I would like the NAME of who wrote that. I don't care if it was written in 1969. They should be held accountable for what they wrote.
"God's Prophetic Word" it may be, but the WT HAS NO CLUE AS TO WHAT IT MEANS!

P.S. oh well...I bet the writer now would not even recall that they wrote it!
how much money do co's make?
our co is coming this week, i'm just going on sunday, so i was just thinking.
How is Maximus? Hope he is well. His posts were very good.
Remember the Witnesses saying they have "no paid clergy"? Well, the overseers ARE paid, not much, but paid nontheless. So the JWs cannot say they have no paid clergy class
Unless they say "We do not use the word 'clergy'"!

this has been brought up before, but i am going to ask it again....just how many lawyers does the watchtower have?
how many have they sent to law school?
and, why do they need so many lawyers?
This has been brought up before, but I am going to ask it again....Just how many lawyers does the Watchtower have? How many have they sent to Law school? And, why do they need so many lawyers? Where do they keep all of them?
What about training in ancient Biblical languages? Don't they need more people who can understand the original languages in which the Bible was written?
"No!" is obviously the answer of the Watchtower, "Give us more lawyers!"
This does make one wonder.
In another post, I asked about a list of Watchtower lawyers. Now, I am for preserving privacy of names in the public forum, but if anyone wants to send such a list (if it exists) to me as a PM, I would accept it!

please provide proof that elders are not appointed by holy spirit or are especially giftd with more holy spirit than anyone else.
Because elders in general often look for direction by going to the Watchtower bound volumes and looking for articles telling them what to do!
So much for directioon by the Holy Spirit!

HAYDEN COVINGTON, THE JEHOVAH\'S WITNESS AND THEIR PLAN TO EXPAND FIRST AMENDMENT FREEDOMS JENNIFER HENDRSON, Ph.DI just found this when I was searching the net for info about Watchtower lawyers. Looks interesting.
UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, 2002ADVISOR: DON R. PEMBER
FIRST AMENDMENT. LEGAL HISTORY. JEHOVAH\'S WITNESSES.
Hayden Cooper Covington and his plan to bring Jehovah\'s Witness issues before the Supreme Court are unique in the history of First Amendment law in the United States. The Jehovah\'s Witnesses were the first to apply a far-reaching plan of what has been termed \"vigilant\" or \"disciplined\" litigation to First Amendment issues. In a period of 15 years, Watchtower lawyers had won Witnesses the right to distribute literature door-to-door, on public streets and on street owned by private corporations and the federal government; the right to carry out these activities without first securing a permit or paying a tax; the right to use sound-amplifying equipment to spread their beliefs; and the right to be protected from continued arrest under unconstitutional ordinances. By implementing an extensive, detailed legal plan to overturn ordinances that interfered with their evangelical mission, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society broadened protection under the First Amendment for their members and for all Americans. The overwhelming success of the plan shaped masss media law, the application of the First Amendment, and group litigation in the United States.

i am starting a new thread so folks do not have to search through several pages of posts to find this image.
the original thread was here.
i received the following fax this morning from my old isp(dirtclod.com was coincidentally moved the same day i received notice regarding this copyright infringement for bandwidth purposes) and was seven pages in length.
Scully,
Oh, one thing, when I asked who posted the message that was delete, I was not asking about their identity, only their "alias" used in the forum. Wanted to see what other things they had written here.
But no matter....going on to read other threads now
