exJW Psychology 102--How to Ask a Question When Questions Aren't Allowed
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite innow that enough time has passed and i've moved away, i think i'm overdue to share some of the stories from my fade.
i've mentioned some of this before, but i think it deserves its own thread.. we all would like to be able to freely ask questions about jw beliefs and get our family and friends to really think about certain questions.
however, when you're a baptized jw, you really can't ask any good questions or you'll get the "apostate" label slapped on you!

This happened to me too. Listen the JWs have apostate antennae that are amazing. You are now going to be studied and scrutinized for a while. Don't let your guard down. Unless you can somehow reach your wife and then you can act together. Until then don't think a few months are all it takes. You can't slip up again in the next year. Be careful man. Im sorry as well. It's miserable I know. I thought I could talk with someone I was related to and close to. Nope! You can't trust anyone.

If you can't even admit that a zygote is a unique individual, then how could you say 4 million unique individuals being tortured to death is the same thing?
You are clearly dancing around words afraid to admit what Cofty has skillfully and painstakingly drug out of you. Just admit you were bored at work and do not now consider it the same as the holocaust.

problemaddict I think you and I feel pretty closely on this subject. I'm taking a hard stand against unstop due to his extreme opinion.
To protect the life of the mother, I think abortion should be allowed until birth. It makes me sad and it stinks god in his love couldn't prevent this, but its fair to protect the mothers life.
For rape victims and babies with extreme deformities, I don't know exactly where I would feel good about drawing that line, so I default to it being the WOMANS body and her choice.
If abortion happens prior to fetal development then I can't see the logic in saying it is murder and the same as the holocaust.
What would have been worse? To gas and torture 4 million living people to death, or to destroy 4 million embryos? Unstop you cannot actually believe this. it defies logic and common sense.

Thats exactly my point but I don't think unstop gets it... Until there is a little human there or organs etc its just not the same thing. If you take this extreme view of life then it should apply in all areas of your life, for all "life".

But it isnt a human yet! It is just a group of cells. The brain hasnt formed, the heart hasnt formed. It is just a group of dumb cells.

yes of course a cell is a form of life. But, there can be no difference in the cells during the first days of conception, than there is in the insects or plants that you kill without giving it a second thought.
You can't say stopping a glob of cells from replicating is worse than killing an already living mouse in your house.

But, You have no problem with using herbacide on your lawn weeds right? So, when 12 cells are present but are not an aware being and do not have organs or bodies, why are those cells different than the life in your yard at that point?
