Just plain dumb. I've heard the same before myself. I used to look around the hall and try to figure out who would make it. I knew a lot would die...
What a waste.
in the early 80's when i was just a teen, i was out in field circus one day when i overheard our cobe (called president at the time?
) telling another elder that, if armageddon were to come tomorrow, less than 1/3 of the congregation would survive.
this was actually in a bakery as we were just finishing up and they didn't even notice me standing in line as they were too busy drooling over the pastries and talking trash about a ministerial servant who decided not to go to field circus that day for whatever reason.

... that they actually have more of a desire to get to knoww you then jehovah's witnesses.
for years at the kingdom hall although i was an elder everyone "knew of me" but no one knew me.
i realized that i never really had a friend who knew anything about me as a person or my background.
That's so awesome big slim! I love my local cigar shop. Similar atmosphere. Hey look for a PM from me.
had a brief chat with an elder from a distant congregation today: long story short - he has spoken to "someone" at london branch regarding the 'famine' of bibles within the org, and was told by this "someone" to just wait until nearer the end of this year.. he said it sounds like we're going to get an announcement via the annual meeting!!.
i said that it was strange that two world wars, the spanish 'flu, the wall street crash & the great depression couldn't stop the society producing bibles, so something major must be causing it now.. does anyone have any more info on the new york court action against the wtbts and the nwt writing committee?.
"Many brothers and sisters have been very thankful to have such a beautiful and complete bible available for a voluntary donation. Some have been heard remarking that similar bibles in a book store are very expensive. Are we not all appreciative and over joyed at what Jehovah provides?"

I wonder if this would get certain friends to use a paper bible instead of a tablet? Wouldn't work on me!
there wouldn't have been any good way to hear the news i suppose.
it's just so strange to recall the conversation yesterday.
my "still in" parents are with me and my inactive sister having a pleasant conversation.
I'm sorry Billy. There is nothing great for me to say to you... But, I hope you know I wish I could do something for you. I've been through something like this too. Please, hang in there. I'll be thinking about you.
so about 8 years ago, we had a local needs talk about dents an scratches !!!!
it was given by the cobe and this guy was just your normal everyday elder.
except he had his occasional pet peeves... like (you guessed it) dents and scratches on some of the brothers' vehicles.
What a tool. Using a local needs for a pet peeve.
i am so thankful that i was able to learn the truth about the truthtm (ttatt).
i owe everything in my life to having left watchtower corp: my education, my position as a college professor, being able to write and publish, travel, family life, my beautiful children, being able to be openly gay -- and happy.
unlike those closeted homosexuals in the truthtm, i do not have to be afraid to be who i am.
Very glad. It's allowing me to save my spouse and kid. I wouldn't want to live without this. I have so much more peace now. Knowing there isn't a paradise has been great for me. I live now like we are supposed to. I try to give back. I want to leave the world a better place than I found it.
*first* - a clarification that needs to be made.
this is not about all women.
i am not against cosmetic surgery.
Yeah, this is severa places in the US. It is VERY common.
i was talking with a jw i've known a long time and the topic of da new order came up.
she mentioned how nice it will be when all animals are at peace.
i asked why they had camouflage and defensive and offensive weapons if they were to always get along?
Adamah - To take it even a bit more simple or more to root of the issue consider the idea of a test. If god is completely and fully incapable of wrong doing. If it is impossible for him to do bad. If he made all things in his image. If they were truly perfect Then why make a tree and demand they not eat it as a test? Why create a way to sin? Why the need to see if they will obey? Why would a test of their obedience and desire to worship him be needed?
I used to believe that stuff. How I don't understand. But, amazingly I did.

Now, as mentioned above if it is reconstructive then all criticism is off the table for me.
Its just the plain old I don't like what my DNA gave me witnesses I'm griping about.
