man didn't need helpful or harmful bacteria. we were made perfect. bacteria we are immune to doesn't make logical sense. would people in paradise want to see monkeys bleeding from the rectum with ebola? no.

Ahhh Dagnabbit
by Jon Preston inwell afyer two months i get a message from an elder wanting to go out in service a few nights a week and to hang out more....i must now be labelled in the spiritually weak and reach out to group in my hall.
my hall is very nice and so are the people but dagnabbit i hate small towns.... i wonder if i should say no or just nite the bullet on behalf of our fade...hmm decisions.

Once you take a big step back like that it resets the clock on the fade and starts from zero. It can be hard when the people who ask you are nice and you don't want to hurt them... But you have to do whats best for you and the wife.

My Experience and how I finally let myself see the truth
by OneEyedJoe infirst off - for those lurkers who feel guilty just for being on this site and reading this (even if you don't read any further, as it is your right to choose that course) i want you to know that you're not alone in what you're going through or in what you are feeling.
if you read on, i hope my experience may be of some small help to you.. this may be long, but i'll try to organize it in a way that doesn't make it painful to read.
to start, i feel it is most beneficial if i'm upfront and honest with my goals from posting this, which are (in order of the degree to which they motivated me):.

My wife is out now Joe. It was tough... But, I used the methods recommended in the Hassan books to engage her in real person conversations. When I was talking to the real her I would ask viewpoint questions to get her thinking. If she reverted to cult mode I quit instantly. And tried again another day or later. It takes time. Go slowwwwww. But, Billy The Ex-Bethelite gave me great advice once. He said, now that you know Armageddon isn't coming slow down. Take your time. There is NOT a rush.
Things like talking about a tattoo may get her being independant? Maybe... Or showing a picture of the articles for kids in the Awake and saying "Do you think this is morbid or scary in a way?"
Just little tries. Nothing big. Don't spill your guts in a rush. Go slow. Also, be the very best husband you have ever been. Be more loving, more thoughtful, buy flowers, go to dinner, get her a card. Show her as you distance yourself from the religion a little that are even better than before.

lol the Eve story is ludicrous. Almighty god couldn't make a woman without a rib? Please... And why not create her along with Adam? Why would he create a man all by himself with sex organs. It's so laughable. And to think they base doctrine around the time between Adams creation from dust and Eves creation for a rib.
Belief in god in the garden of Eden is a stupid concept. God was talking to them daily. God made them. How could they not believe. And if they actually interacted with god and didn't believe him, then how can he judge humans today who don't have interaction with him for their disbelief. Two perfect people who talked to god fell away and god is going to burn people today forever? That's asinine.

No, they definately will NOT review all current elders and ms. Because they have said for decades they were appointed by holy spirit and the GB! This will just be for new appointments.
Although, the CO has always reviewed the qualifications of brothers serving and not serving yet. Still, this will not be as you asked with re-appointments as that would PROVE there was no holy spirit when they were first appointed.

Darth Frosty you are right! One of the most important things I got right away was that the CO is just another elder. He isn't anointed, he isn't full of more holy spirit than a normal elder. He is just a guy. Before you could say the GB had approved it, I imagined them praying about appointments then mailing back the okay. Now..... It's just a guy.

for some reason, my email spam filter is inaccessable, and ended up having to open another account, simply to become a member... wonder how many others have had a similar problem.. its been an eye opener reading everyones life experiences, often so similar.. i was almost a born in, with a hardcore family.
abusive stepfather who was one of the original jws in the area, so much so, that it was called the xxxxx family religion.... been out for 25 years, am glad every day for that!!.

If you are thinking about "Stepping Down" you better do it QUICK!
