this will be the first time in my life that i will not have seen a drama or baptism.
i will miss the public address, i will not see many of my lifelong friends that i have moved away from.

The Apostasy Within
by Ultimate Axiom inin the latest watchtower (july 15, 2014, page 14, paragraph 10) it says; today, jehovahs people are not often confronted with apostasy within the congregation.
still, when exposed to unscriptural teachings, regardless of the source, we must decisively reject them.. so, not often, but occasionally jws are exposed to apostasy within the congregation, and they are instructed to decisively reject it.
as we all know, the vast majority of the apostasy they are exposed to comes from the governing body.. i am meeting up soon with an old friend from the 1970s who i havent seen for decades, who is still an active jw, and who would really like to hear what i think about things.

Protect the elderly
by defender of truth inthis weeks km is telling elders to arrange for group studies with people in local nursing homes, with instructions on how to word things when speaking to the directors etc.. they are clearly trying to get to people who may not be entirely able to think for themselves or who may lack critical thinking and yet may have money to leave to them.. what can you do?.
well, if you wanted to, write a short and simple letter or email to your local care home, perhaps directly even speak to the director yourself... warn them about the brainwashing and danger of breaking up of families etc.
the km says they should identify themselves as jw's... .

As usual they are following the money trail. Would anyone here care to write up a letter template so more on the boards could post letters to the local facilities? That would be a real help as many might like to help but don't always have the words to put on paper.

by friendaroonie insince the creation of a few youtube channels i spend enormous amounts of time watching them.
they have basically replaced my activity on jwn and watching kelly and michael in the morning.
there are quite a few issues and implications that result from this trend.

Just letting you know I passed the exam
by will-be-apostate inhi, my apostate friends.. a couple of weeks ago i asked for some advice regarding studying methods.
then some of you asked me to let you know my score after i take the exam at mineralogy.. i scored 90%.
i'm pretty happy with it because the exams i take are not in my native language.. if i keep up with the good scores i might get a scholarship and then bye bye watchtower society.

A Mormon becomes a JW in the Feb 2013 Watchtower...

it's interesting how, in the story, the young man's jw aunt and uncle switch him from mormonism to the jw faith using third-party material (the nov 8, 1995 awake!
article), and he ends up becoming a jw after confirming on the official mormon website that the claims in the awake!

I think the point Cedars made was that:
1. The article showed that the Mormon gentleman was persuaded by "worldly" sources that the jw teachings were correct.
2. As we all well know, jws are NOT allowed to read anything "worldly".
3. Therefore, the logic behind the article (whether it was true or not) was totally fallible.
It cannot be right for someone of another faith to use "worldly" sources to "come into the truth" but wrong for someone of the jw faith to NOT be able to use "worldly" sources to read about the jws.
