Deaf Aotearoa flooded with complaints about Jehovah's Witness church
by OrphanCrow indeaf aotearoa flooded with complaints about jehovah's witness churchkashka tunstalllast updated 15:22, october 6 2015deaf aotearoa has asked the jehovah's witness church to respond to claims of a deaf information database.new zealand's deaf community is fed up with unsolicited house calls, claiming the jehovah's witness church is targeting deaf households.deaf aotearoa has received multiple complaints from around the country and says church members visited certain homes because they were aware a deaf person lived there.
the organisation released a statement on monday, saying it was looking into the possibility the church holds a database listing the details of members of the deaf community.jehovah witness spokesman rod spinks said there was no such database and deaf people were not being targeted.the deaf aotearoa statement was posted on the group's facebook page, and received a flood of comments from frustrated people.one woman said a group of jehovah's witnesses had come to her house and asked "for the deaf person who lives here.
" she said they refused to explain how they had her details and didn't visit her neighbours.another said church members had turned up at her work and asked for her by name.hamilton man royce flynn said he had been visited six times over the last nine months, despite repeatedly saying he was uninterested in the house calls.he said the church members were always able to sign and also brought deaf people along, which lead him to believe he was being singled out.flynn said contacted local police, who told him it was a privacy issue and referred him on to the office of the privacy commissioner.he said he had been been in contact with local labour member of parliament sue moroney.deaf aotearoa acting chief executive jill dean said complaints about the church were a recurring issue.

The sign language groups are notorious for this behavior, and yes, they do actively keep updated lists of deaf persons. In fact, their "door-to-door" work 100% involves asking this single question: Do you know anyone who is deaf or hard of hearing? They call it canvassing. The fact that no presentations are used is one reason so many dubs flock to the sign language congs as it makes counting time a breeze. In the US, their "territories" often cover multiple counties so they may spend twelve hours on a Sunday without really ever "preaching". Dub life is EASY in Sign Language!! -

November 2015 Awake
by username inok. when i first looked at the cover of this issue of awake i was instantly struck on how creepy it looked.
my first impressions were the picture looked almost masonic in nature.
well, further investigation has led me to another picture that shows a grand masonic hall.

rebelfighter, one thing that really did creep me out, though was that we used to visit an aged "sister" who lived in a masonic nursing home because her deceased husband had been a mason.
The waiting room/lobby area was covered in plaques and pictures of men with outlandish titles that sounded very religious, so it seemed ODD to me. The fact that they used titles including Most Worshipful Sovereign Grand Master and Most Excellent Grand High Priest, just to name two, definitely screamed RELIGION to me. I have no real deep knowledge of the masons other than some documentaries I've watched, but the fact that anyone joins a "secret" group or society pretty well creeps me out.
If an organization is really all about helping kids, etc, they should be transparent.
Sorry, not trying to step on any toes, just want to help you understand where I'm coming from.

You have to admit, the carrot is pretty alluring.
by John Aquila inthere were several families that were visiting my mom today and i was sitting in and just listening to all of them talk..
they started talking about the recent shooting at the university.
and its so easy for them because all they have to say is;.

Sadly, they just don't realize that the carrot is rotten. Neither did we. -

Prayer Question I Had After Sundays Watchtower...
by freemindfade inwhile i was sitting through another grueling watchtower, dying from my brain being turned into cult pudding, i had this thought after i heard this read: .
when we express our most intimate thoughts to god in prayer, he may answer us through a bible passage, an article in a magazine, or an encouraging word from a fellow believer.

Clarity, thank you for the George Carlin post. I really miss him, it's so great that we have YouTube to revisit his brilliance.
As for the whole prayer issue, it always amazed me how on one hand the Big Jehoobie would somehow swing world events so that some piosneer out in the sticks came home to find a bag of groceries on her stoop, yet Jehoobie could not even lift a finger to stop that bus full of jdubs on their way to Jehoobie's convention in South America from rolling down a mountainside. Because, (drum roll, please) as we all know, time and unforeseen circumstance...is some made-up b*llsh*t.
Seriously, how do still-in dubs reconcile this nonsense? It just added fuel to my Get-Out-Of-Jehoobie-Land fire. There has to be some mental cognition when stories like those are in the news.

Hmmm...I thought the only thing of interest was the shared use of the cross and crown symbol. Just seems odd that it was so prominently displayed on the literature. I didn't see anyone accusing the masons of worshipping serpents, did I miss something in this thread?

Just recovering from a 'Mormon Mind Melt' ...
by LoveUniHateExams ini was in town centre about an hour ago to buy a shirt and tie for an upcoming job interview when i was stopped by a youngish, clean cut american young man (20-ish) in a cheap suit.
my heart sank as i thought it was local jws.
to my slight relief, it was mormons!

SSC: 2) The angel Moroni showed Joseph Smith the sacred golden plates and was told to bury them near his home. These big, solid gold plates have never been found, despite only have been burried around 1823 and that area of New York being heavily excavated and built on.
He didn't happen to live near Warwick, did he? Maybe the plates are at the bottom of that lake.(Sorry, just couldn't help myself.)

A relative of mine's grandfather became a jdub city overseer (way back when) yet he was a 33rd degree mason. The "cross and crown" most certainly was an early Bible Students symbol and was indeed featured on the WT way back when. Makes one wonder if that connection continues today. -

A simple physical exercise leads to great discovery!
by iconoclastic inwhen i was working in a shipping company, captain invited me to his house for his wedding anniversary.
there i was attracted to his father (aged around 80) who seemed to be very healthy.
with me he became very comfortable, and talkative.

The first breathing exercise is well known and very effective. I believe the second exercise relates to energy chakras as recognized by some eastern religions. No need to make fun of things you aren't familiar with, really. We are only comfortable with our own customs, but need to recognize that every society has customs and teachings different from each other. That doesn't make them wrong, and we have lots to learn by being open-minded.
