For me the worst thing is not having a helper anymore
by John Aquila inone of the things that gave me confidence in life was that i believed i had the almighty creator/god watching over me, directing me, guiding my every step, protecting me from harm, and answering my prayers.
i now know that is not the case anymore.
i finally stopped praying.

John, that scene at the hospital sounds like something out of a Lifetime movie about wacko fundamentalist religions. A new daddy allowing his young wife to die, so the newborn child grows up without mommy, is so cruel and inhuman.
Such is the power of mind-numbing religion.
No one who leaves is on their own, really. You, for example, obviously have a very well-functioning heart and brain working together to sort out your life. And like it or not, you're stuck with this terrific JWN family for support. "Jehovah" was not your helper, he was an invented symbol of power utilized by greedy self-serving control freaks calling themselves a religion.
You don't need their guidance. You're fantastically qualified to control your own life, come what may.
Here's to the many thought-provoking, challenging, exciting years ahead for you and everyone brave enough to step away from the control of the wt organization!

So the good news is that gb printed garbage may save some from signing their lives away to the cult! One can only hope. -

Blurring of genders
by Saltheart Foamfollower inas sometimes happens at elders meetings with the co, he has a letter from the branch to read out.
this rarely is made available later so any policies have to be acted on from memory.
this visit a letter was read about blurring of the genders and in particular brothers dressing in a metrosexual style - tight clothing was mentioned again.

Good grief. All hail the Frumpiness Dress Code!
And what about females who display masculine traits? Why are the gb so danged worried about gay men?

Did anyone see Jackson state "celebrating Christmas not a df'ing offence"?
by Crazyguy ini have seen posts on several you tube sites stating that jackson said during his rc testimony that jw's don't shun, celebrating christmas is not a disfellowshipping offence, birthdays are ok and ones doesn't have to agree with jw doctrine.
i have read most of the posts on other threads while and after his testimony but never read any of this?
did he really say these things or is someone on the net just stirring up some bs?.

We should all send Holiday Greetings (of your choice) to each of the gb at beth-hell. Wonder how many thousands of cheery notes we could drown the mail room in? -

"So that we will not be confused with salesmen, it is best not to mention the donation arrangement unless we are asked..."
by Island Man in"so that we will not be confused with salesmen, it is best not to mention the donation arrangement unless we are asked how our work is financed.".
this damning quote is found on page 1 of the september 2015 our kingdom ministry, the last sentence in the 3rd bullet point under the sub-heading how to do it.
this quote amounts to an implicit admission that the jw practice of mentioning the donation arrangement to householders at the door, makes them look like door to door salesmen.. why would "jehovah's organization" be engaging in a practice that is nothing more than a transparent attempt at undercover soliciting?

So I'm curious...how many here felt awkward about asking for donations?? -

Washington Post in US: Jehovah's Witnesses Face Child Sex Abuse Investigation in Australia
by cultBgone init's finally hit mainstream media in the us!
let's hope some savvy investigative journalists see a pulitzer for opening up this story to cover the us and worldwide cases.. jehovahs-witnesses-face-child-sex-abuse-investigation-in-australia/2015/08/14/.
everyone who is able should hurry up and post comments on their website as the pro-jw forces have rallied and are trying to squash this as libel.

Steve2, I already addressed your points on page one. It may be a month old, but I just ran across it during a search. Does that make it invalid? Why so negative?
LisaRose, sorry that I missed those earlier posts.

Instructions from the Old Elder's Book
by John Aquila inlast night i was looking over the notes on my old elders book and one of the instructors told us to write this down.
"when you want to get the friends to believe and obey anything, just keep saying it over and over and over and eventually they will believe it and follow whatever they are being told.
when i went back to school, i learned this quote in one of my world history classes..

Sorry but if my husband was getting lap dances in any sort of bar, I'd kick his butt out. Some men may think that's okay (macho guy stuff, ya know) but to most woman it's no different than having an affair. Sex as "sport" changes the intimacy in a relationship and breaks the bonds of trust. Doesn't matter if it was under or over the clothing as the intention is the same.
You definitely did that woman a favor.
