  Anyone like me where you still believe in MOST of their doctrines?

  like i don't like that un involvment, record keeping.

  i don't know what to think about the paedophile stuff, because you could accuse the catholic church of that too.

  but apart from those things i still believe that god's name is jehovah, his son is jesus, no trinity, and he died on a torture stake... i love reading the new world translation, i believe it's the best one, but i love reading other translations too!

  Whatever doctrine the WT teaches, there is always an alternative veiw. I found Edmund Gruss "Apostles of Denial" to be very interesting in taking WT doctrine and discussing alternative veiws. It kinda showed that the black and white thinking of the Watchtower wasnt healthy for me personally. Until you read alternative veiws, you have no way of being objective in the things that you believe.

  The WT likes to think there are no alternative views, you have to believe thier interpretation or die! It is interesting therefore when they provide alternative veiws to their own previously held water tight doctrine. seperating Sheep & Goats, 1914 generation, the Wild beast is the un, etc....

  dya get my drift?

  People move at their own pace, I have made a complete turn around when it comes to WT doctrine, but it took me time, patience and an alternative view to get there.

  my therapist and i talked about the bible, specifically, adam and eve and their sinning by eating from the forbidden fruit.

  he says it is really a great lesson on consequences of your actions.

  i agreed and we talked at some length about it, but one thing i decided, god was not fair.

  On the surface it does appear unfair wednesday, however there is a lot missing from the account, like how many times were they told not to take from the tree, how many years between creation and the actual partaking? There's a lot of various interpretations, I think we need to look at various viewpoints and reach our own conclusions. Interesting thread.

  gone is the beast = un now it is all governments in their imperfect state.

  anyone who takes any active part in any government or even flirts with a government symbol.

  hi, i'm new to these forums so i thought i would share some experiences of when i was a jw.. i was born in 1976 into a staunch jw family.

  my grandparents, parents, aunties, uncles, cousins etc etc were all jw's going back to the 1950's.

  when i was a child my parents, like a lot of jw parents, didn't let me have worldly friends.

  I still have trouble with relationships and lack self confidence

  Fantastic thread Nwt, its not surprising that you have trouble with confidence, you have been made to feel unworthy all of your life by a religion that judges you based on how many hours you do each month, how many meetings, etc. You have gotten off that treadmill now so just give yourself time to find your own feet, be patient with yourself, your confidence will boom in due time, especially when you realise that you have began writing the diary of a "somebody" and not a nobody.

  As you form your own opinions and beliefs the WT will fade and you will begin to realise that there is life outside of the control of abusive movements. This realisation will give you a lot of the confidence back that the WT robbed you of.

  told me that she had sent me a package of candies and cookies.

  i got one of the packages today.

  it consist of two small boxes, one with a red bucket of candy with a red heart on the front with a caption that says "wishing you a happy valentine's day!

  These bills and the people behind them are too dumb! "Trends" of youth have always been a part of every community, if its a trend thats physically harming others then yes, but to critisise these sort of "baggy drawers" is pathetic.
