just saw this flash on my yahoo news - a religious group pushing ads "what would jesus drive?
" in an appeal to get big suv's and other gas guzzlers off the road.
i am all for doing more environmentally, but this is a big turn off for me.. http://news.yahoo.com/fc?tmpl=fc&cid=34&in=business&cat=automotive_news.

"What would Jesus drive?"
That sort of question really gets up my nose too!
What would muhammed drive? Imagine the negative response that would get from Islam.

Hope everything is going well for you now cassie, nilfun is a perfect example of how a freind should be, no motives but just wanting to be encouraging and supportive unconditionaly. We learn a lot from that, and that only exsists outside of JWdom.

doctors have began prescribing suicide as a way out of pain saying that this medical avenue should have been recommended many more times in the past.
Elsewhere I agree with you here:
Please show compassion and understanding toward those who take this option of last resort.
I am impressed by the compassion shown here, Joel is not impressed and thats understandable in view of the way he/she seems to be viewing life at the moment. The thread discussed suicide in general not an attack on those suffering intense physical pain, none of us can say what corse of action we would take until we are in that pain. I have a terminally ill father who only has a 1% lung capacity, its aweful to watch him experiencing a drowning everytime his air cuts off. However he refuses to give up on life because his outlook is that more time spent with those he loves is a bonus, and he treats each day as a gift inspite of his stomach muscles collapsing and physical pain. I would be prepared and totally understand if he took his life, however even doctors said that he is alive simply because he loves other people. He is not thinking of himself in this life and that is a strength beyond what is normal. I share this only to show that the last resort is NOT suicide, it may be chosen as a last resort but sometime suicidle people need to know that it is NOT the last resort, there is always a better way!
In saying that, I do still feel compassion to people who have very painful illness and in no way want to sound as though I'm saying just because one person can choose to live with pain then all must. I dont know if I would want to live with intense pain. However looking at Joels ending message "I am ugly" shows me that it is an emotional illness as well as physical pain (if there is any), Joel can be helped. He/she needs good advice. Joel is within reach of brighter days, its up to him/her to use both hands to get a better outlook.

i continue to read how franz is to blame for every wrong because, after all, he was on the governing body and he had to know everything that went on.
some here say, "let's drop this issue".
these same ones continue to bring it up.
To start a thread that is going to incite people bashing is not very productive.
Well said scumrat! That just about sums it up. We are back on the same dizzy ole merry go round just for the sake of starting a thread that will get a lot of responses.
Mention RF, BB and you get an audience.

erm....well see, he was responsible for the holocaust...oh hang on there no holocaust so nahh...perhaps he could be blamed for 9/11, hmm then again in 50 years time the revisionist will have blotted out the 9/11 as a mere accident caused by some Jewish pilot...so naahhh, perahaps we could blame him for the misuse of "freedom of speach", where we are allowed to freely insult everyone and laugh at others sufferings, nah..oh no one ever did blame him for ...
second thoughts, i'll exit the thread and let others flog the dead horse

Joel perhaps you misunderstood, no one is talking about euthanasia but rather addressing suicide in general. Look at tinkerbells post and understand or empathise that it is the darkest hour when someone takes thier lives. Its not all about US and how WE feel, its about the one who has committed suicide, greif for them and wanting so much to have helped them.
True, there is a huge element of US in a greiving process, the person is no longer around to share that with. Doesnt make anyone pigs, just devistated. Imagine if someone close to us commits suicide and then we turned around and said "I feel nothing about it", then we are pigs.
Unfortuantely in suicide in general the person hasnt spared a thought for those left behind to pick up the aftermath, because it was all about THEMself. Not that I'm condeming any one who has been so low, but with the testimony off many who attempted suicide but survived they now live brighter and productive lives.
nuff said, essays could be written on why not to commit suicide in general.

: Suicide ends pain for many ...
..and begins pain and anguish for many more people who have to pick up the peices and deal with the aftermath :(
Very sad

stated just incase someone misread this as being an encouragement for suicide in general...there's always a better way
