I don't think either Martin or Zimmerman is a saint. A wanna-be cop and a wanna-be gangster met up with tragic onsequences.
But I'm sad that we are expecting a 17 year old to act with the wisdom and insight of an adult. Young men are often stupid and foollish at that age. It's too bad that Martin met up with the likes of Zimmerman and paid for his mistake with his life.
He deserved to die for that?

Zimmerman is not innocent. But he was found legally Not Guilty. It's a legal distinction.
He brought on the situation, but they determined that he did nothing criminal. It wasn't like he was skipping through the neighborhood, passing out flowers, minding his own business and not harrassing anyone. He profiled a young man and followed him. It's not a crime. It's despicable, but not a crime.

I am surprised about how much onus is put on the minor who hasn't finished high school and is walking down the street in a public, rather than on the adult who is supposedly pursuing a college degree and who purposefully inserted himself into the perfectly legal activity of another person.
I don't agree with Martin going after Zimmerman, but perhaps the young man didn't know the proper procedure for when you're followed by a random, armed vigilante, while returning from the store.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A Florida woman who fired warning shots against her allegedly abusive husband has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Marissa Alexander of Jacksonville had said the state's "Stand Your Ground" law should apply to her because she was defending herself against her allegedly abusive husband when she fired warning shots inside her home in August 2010. She told police it was to escape a brutal beating by her husband, against whom she had already taken out a protective order.
