Hello Alive!
Every church has their quite meaningless cliches - even the notion of "the good news" depends upon what good news they are preaching.
Like you, I'm sure that God is far above that.
i mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.
im not talking about silly little quibbles here and there.. is jehovah real?
the the bible is word?

i'm new here, so please forgive me if i'm getting this all wrong.. i read on one of the web pages that the society has written "we should pray for the death of apostates".
i think this was a 2000 watchtower, but to be honest i was so shocked at reading it that i forgot to make a note.. .
can anybody enlighten me please??
Good morning Blondie,
The watchtower article came out just as the "70-80 years of generation from 1914" was coming to an end - it was designed to terrify people who were asking questions about it. The result, as you may remember, was that people prayed for the death of people without knowing who they were - it could be their partners, their children, their friends - and those who ones would know that there were six million witnesses, authorised by "God", to pray that they die. I personally saw some people crushed almost to the point of suicide by that article.
Whatever knowledge a church may have, if its spirit is so vile and controlling then it is not guided by God. Who is to say they would not do so again if they had to? Or... repentance and contrition might help them a little, but their claim to be the saving ark for people has, I think, long since sunk.
i mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.

Former Brother
I have looked over the avatars of other people, and no-where do I see a photo of them on watchtower preaching work. I have looked over your posts, and - while the text sounds like it could be from someone searching, or from someone who is dis-satisfied or a "former" JW - all of them could also be statements from an active witness citing questions in challenge to outsiders. You ask seemingly reasonable questions to people, who presume they are receiving an unbiased reply from someone who is similar to them - but you are nothing of the kind.
The aim of your posts is to quietly instill doubt and fear in those who have already suffered horrible experiences - rebutting their reasonable responses and making them begin to wonder if there is an alternative to the JW, and then wonder what "terrible position" they must be in by leaving it. How utterly cruel, have devious, how manipulative, how disgusting. For all your Bible learning, you could have taught the wounded ones here - those so traumatised that they never want to look at a Bible again - you could have instilled an interest and love in the scriptures and a trust in God back to them, but instead you do this detestable thing.
The very fact that you have framed you questions and comments in such an ambivalent manner shows the work you have put into this deceit. I have seen many, many of these actions in the past from people, and they are no different to the lying action of the serpent toward Eve. Whatever your conscience is, I hope you feel it was worth it, but as this marks a disgusting tactic in your religion, you will find it is a Pyrrhic victory

I should state plainly for you, publicly on your thread:
The century-long preaching of imminent Armageddon by the watchtower is completely flawed.
The 1st earthly event of the vision of Revelation has not yet occurred, so Armageddon cannot possibly be imminent.

Former brother,
Your thread is actually an advertisement for the watchtower, is it not? You do not reason, you do not ask.
Are you a "former brother" - as in ex, or are you a "former brother" as in one who forms the watchtower community?
EDIT: - and I ask this in respect out of a more widespread - rather than my own - feeling of wonder

Pretty obnoxious but doesn't exactly say that:
I don't think church literature ever really says what it "says" - it relies on a tidal wave of zeal to fill in the blanks without actually taking the full responsibility itself.
An exact - a genuine - article would remove any possibility of over-zeal in its interpretation, especially when it it speaking of God and when that over-zeal results in such a horrible action as praying for the death of others. Recall Jude 9, when Michael would not even rebuke the devil - let alone pray for his death.
i've been thinking this for a while.
even before the arc scandal.
it seems no matter what, the org.

See "The Gentile Times Reconsidered" page 5 footnote 5 which points to the 1993 Watchtower study article "Search Through Me O God"
Paragraph 14 entitled "Hating What Jehovah Hates" (which never actually speaks of God's hates at-all) encourages - in fact is a command - to that very action.

it seems no matter what, the org.
Just because they call themselves after the Creator, doesn't mean they will be protected, and just because they call themselves after the Creator does not mean they are the "one-true-religion" - just because a can is labelled "prime steak" does not mean it isn't really dog food.Do you think Jehovah is protecting the org. because if the ORG. would admit it many would just fall apart
They rely on their chosen Name to repel all criticisms, but that is a sin they will have to answer for.
l thought it might be a good idea to have a quick reference post to remind people of the faults within the jw org.what do others think.

The most startling one is their century-long preaching of an imminent Armageddon.
The 1st earthly event of the vision of Revelation has not yet taken place, so Armageddon cannot possibly be imminent.
