We're not talking about work, we're talking about your home where you pay the bills.
Now what? If the person's conduct were bothering the majority of people at the table, what would you do?
i see the same thing happening here that happened on another site a couple of years ago.
all of this complaing about moderation.
i just can't believe it.. think of it this way.

OK, Trauma, I'll try this again because I like you and I might run into you today at Hemp-Fest.
Let's make a less extreme example, again using your home as the setting.
There is no law against putting your face into a plate of food and sucking it in making loud noises as you do so. (At least not in this state.) Yet, do you need to instruct your dinner guests in writing before serving a meal that this sort of thing is disgusting to the rest of the diners and will not be tolerated?
I would suppose that when groups of civil people congregate, it is assumed (or hoped at least) that certain decorum will be observed. It is not unreasonable nor completely restrictive of personal freedom to expect such.
I once asked my brother-in-law to stop telling ethnic jokes while in my home. Did I restrict his freedom? Yeah, somewhat. But I did not want my children exposed to this sort of offensive behavior. If Simon, or someone acting on his behalf, asks a poster to refrain from material offensive to abuse-survivors does it restrict their freedom? Yeah, but same deal.
Is this making any sense at all to you?
BTW, are there good second-hand fumes at the festival?

So, TH, if I follow your logic:
Is there a sign in your home instructing people not to deficate on your carpet? How about a sign asking people to please refrain from calling your mother a harlot?
Aren't written rules mostly unnecessary? And if some guests are too thick to understand "unwritten laws", don't you just show them the door?
(edited to comment that I was posting simultaneously with Lilacs and did not mean to be redundant.)

it doesnt take much analytical posturing when looking in retrospect at what are increasingly difficult positions of religious conviction, to see that the direction taken by the parties involved in governing the publishers and individuals involved that constitute the quasi religious organisation of jehovahs witness are not in sequence with nor do they in principle touch the cornerstones of contemporary thinking and rational logic.. consequently the reaction to the typical agenda of the said ruling party and its effect to the alienated from membership of that group can be said to inflame the righteous indignation of all who have come into opposition to the obfuscating blanket of self-belief represented by the non elected members of that ruling group.. in plane terms , relying on a self contractually envelope of authoritarian leadership results in a malignant tumour the like of which can not be remove by mechanical nor medicinal methods.. if only the language used to harangue the subjects of so called theocratic conflict was not so guarded in dappled wording and opaque analysis, then and only then could the luminosity of integrity and reality shine dazzlingly.
"in plane terms" or "in plain terms"....this post was neither.
Sorry, I think you were trying to say something profound.

Moe: I dunno, hon. This place seemed to be working just fine before I arrived in March, 01.
When did you get here?
i just wanted to share with you all what i wrote to connie about the story on cnn.. i wanted to comment about the story done about jehovah's witnesses and the matter of them covering it up.
i have met bill bowen and heidi and amber.i flew from dallas to minnesota to be at heidi's press conference.
i was a jw and was raised this way.
Wonderful letter.
I wrote from all three of my e-mail accounts, and my daughter wrote also. We kept our letters brief, and confirmed the truth of the allegations as long-time Witnesses.
I wish we could do more, but it's a start.
bill said something in his "disfellowshiped" post which i found very interesting.
well, a change occurred at the end of april much like what happened in china.the conservatives used silentlambs as an excuse to squash the liberals and any chance of reform in the organization.why do you think they are asking for 1,000 to leave bethel?
it is the liberals, they are being kicked out wholesale and by doing so the last chance for the organization to save itself.the battle is over, jaracz won.. i had heard about the 1000 people leaving bethel but it was spoken of as "downsizing".
I stand corrected, Francois, however.....
I wonder how the law works considering the "employement" location is also a "residence"? Is there an expectation of privacy in company-owned housing?
hey anyone else going to hemp fest in seattle, http://www.seattlehempfest.com/ let me know, maybe we can meet up there!

lot's of things to do and see, lot's of music.

I must point out that it is not always leagal to tap phone lines in your own home. Depending on state law, it may be illegal to record the other party to a telephone conversation.
I know this, because my ex-husband tapped our phones prior to my obtaining a court-order for him to vacate the home. His illegal activity played a major part in the court order. It also scared the heck out of the elders that he had involved them in this.
If New York is a two-party consent state, it may indeed be illegal to tap phones at Bethel.
i spoke to my niece last night, who is getting a divorce.
her soon to be ex-husband told her it was announced that she is disassociated, recently.
news to all of us.
Mulan: YOU know who you are, WE know who you are, so who cares what THEY think?
Maybe you are treated differently because your family was "high profile" while in. It's embarassing for them to lose somebody like you and your husband.
I know you are grateful for having Princess and others in your family remaining close to you.
I wish I knew more "horrible people" just like you!
