It looks to me like the opening scene from The French Lieutenant's Woman...one of my top ten all time favorites with Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons.

Fish 'n chips is always good if the fish isn't dried out to the point of being cardboard. Out here we have Ivar's (a local boy who made REAL good) and Spuds (another local boy who didn't have quite the penache of Ivar Haglund), and a bunch of independent places. each has a different type of breading. Too few of them offer Calamari (squid). As a disiple of Lord Cthulhu, I am oblicated to eat squiddy things. No problemo.
Nate: Spuds is the best excuse to consume grease ever. Their fried shrimp makes me weep. I much prefer them to Ivar's.
I miss Boston Market. They have the BEST mashed potatoes and stuffing. Unfortunately, they were mis-managed and all the Seattle stores closed. They're still around in other places and in the frozen food section.
I've heard of White Castle, but never tried them. Not much of a burger fan unless they're cooked at home over an outdoor grill.

Hi Jim, glad to have you back. Intersting that you chose this to make your point:
fueled by irrational extremists like Michael Moore / Fahrenheit 911 for example.
There are lots of extremists on both sides and I want nothing to do with either. If my side happens to win (let the reader use discernment), I'll fight vigorously to keep the opposition's voice strong. Only when we listen to all sides of an agrument are we truly free. Those who would shut the mouths of those who disagree with them are insecure in their positions.
Good luck with all your endeavors. So good to see you here.

Nah, talesin, don't shutup. I didn't even know some of these names were ladies! That's what happens when you pick a gender-neutral name!
Congrats to all the wonderful women of the X-JW realm! One we found our voices and took off the headcoverings, you couldn't stop our mouths!

Yes, I knew I'd left out some important fems.
How about Cassi? The lady who risked a great deal to do the right thing. Not many would have stood up the way you did. You belong on the short list. Well done.

Can't go to bed without making mention of two notables left off my list:
Mulan: your grace under fire was a lesson in dignity for the rest of us. In the midst of low-blow insults hurled at you, you maintained your calm and reason. You are beautiful in ways not impacted by years.
Waiting: your picture should be in the dictionary next to the term, "class act". You somehow manage to keep your balance when others are losing their cool.
C'mon...help me out...who else am I missing of the "gentle sex"?

Cassi: your daughter is a beauty. I'm certain the reflection of her mother's grace
Big Tex: your gentility is reflected in all you say and do
Talesin: I look forward to knowing you better
What great women of this forum have we left out?

Since this thread is really more about extending our family - sisters in particular - than it is about any one person...
May I hijack my own thread and dedicate this to the strong and intelligent women of the ex-JW world, past and present. While not always as celebrated as the powerful males, their role has been just as important as they spoke out to help others leave The Borg.
Present
JukieF - who cooked AlanF all those great meals while he was doing research and has opened her home to any and all traveling Apostates
Angrad - God, Lady, what can I say about your patience?
Bikerchick - where would Ona be without you? You restored my faith in internet romance
Nina - what a kind and forgiving soul
NPY - your generosity knows no bounds
Xena AND XenaWarrior - you live up to your combative nick-names and I'm glad to have you here
Lady Lee - the nurturing but formidable advocate for abuse victims
Blondie - keep those WT articles coming
Stinky Pantz - award for most able to learn and grow. So good to have you back
Mouthy - you're where I want to be in a few years. You inspire me.
All the other great ladies I'm sure I've forgotten, but will soon be reminded of.
Past:
Ginny Toskin - gone off to a "real life" but her encyclopedia of a mind is sorely missed
JanG - I never thought I'd miss those annoying e-mails, but DAMN that woman was a rock!!
Prisca - never got along with her, but if I was in a fight, she's somebody I'd like on my side. Loyal beyond belief.
Tina - fiesty and a beautiful soul, truly one of the best people I've ever met in person
Mr. Moe - gets my vote for most growing up in a short time. She went from annoying and strident to wise and insightful in just a few months.
All these women have been valuable contributors to this board and I hope their legacy of kindness, intelligence, support, and yes sometimes Bitchy-ness is long remembered.
Girls night out, indeed!!
Affectionately, Wasa

I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy!!!
Well, NPY, you are pretty cool yourself. If we'd been in the same congregation years ago, we might have been buddies. (Both anal, over-zealous dubs.)
I'm glad Farkel finally gave up permission to speak to each other.
So, I'll take any and all offers for sister-hood. That includes you, Ona.
Sincere thanks. I think this is the first thread EVER started with my name as the subject line. I'm all blushing and stuff.

Terror in the Skies, Again?
by Nathan Natas innote from the e-ditors: you are about to read an account of what happened during a domestic flight that one of our writers, annie jacobsen, took from detroit to los angeles.
the pleasant man with the goatee sat a few rows back and across the aisle from us (in seat 21e).
he sat in first class in seat 1a, the seat second-closet to the cockpit door.

There's two things I can't stand:
Racially profiling, and Arabs on my plane.
