  To expose this clergy-inspired pressure, on March 15, 1918, the Watch Tower Society released the tract Kingdom News No. 1. Its message? The six-column-wide headline read: "Religious Intolerance-Pastor Russell's Followers Persecuted Because They Tell the People the Truth." Below the heading "Treatment of Bible Students Smacks of the 'Dark Ages'" were set forth the facts of the persecution and the ban that had begun in Canada. The instigators? The tract pulled no punches in pointing to the clergy, who were described as "a bigoted class of men who have systematically endeavored to prevent the people from understanding the Bible and to throttle all Bible teaching unless it comes through them." What a hard-hitting message!

  ExJW's Make Better Lovers?

  i don't mean in general, i mean for exjw's... is there a noticable advantage to pairing with someone with the same background?

  i'd like to read your thoughts and experiences on this subject.. i've been romantically involved few times, since "the light got brighter" for me about the organization, with people who didn't know anything about jw's before meeting me.

  one of them viewed my exjw activity as a bit obsessive but okay as long as she got to obsess on her favorite obesssions, too.

  Good question. Seems you've already received at least one invitation to gather evidence for your research, maybe you'll get a few more before this thread runs out.

  I've been doing some cleaning and found a large box of some of the older WT publications. I thought of selling them on Ebay, but don't really want the bother. For the cost of shipping, I'd gladly donate them to someone for research. I'd rather not send them to someone who just wanted to turn a profit, but once I give someone something, I believe it is theirs to do with as they please.

  I haven't had time to compile an inventory, but here are a few items:

  Jehovah's Witnesses In The Divine Purpose c 1959 First Edition
  Centennial of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 1884-1994 Brochure
  Report on "Everlasting Good News" Assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses, June 30-September 8, 1963 soft-cover booklet, 192 pages

  There may be some old Watchtowers as well and a few bound volumes. Write to me privately, or post your e-mail and I'll respond.

  Anyone's kids being raised in the borg?

  i have custody of my kids but my ex is still a witness.

  he takes them to meetings and field service on his visitation time.

  he has told lies about me to all my old friends for moral support and i can't defend myself.

  My God! That brings back memories! I was in that one. I played Shem's wife, so I didn't have to wear black-face like Ham. We didn't have any black brothers in our hall, so the poor sap who played Ham looked like a 1920's Minstral show. It was awful!

  District Assembly Experience on Volunteering

  i seem to recall that on this summer's district assemblies there is an experience given about a woman who was involved in various voluntary community services, but quit them and became a pioneer.

  does anyone remember this?

  if so, can anyone provide more solid documentation?.

  this is sort of a take-off of the "what should the wt do" thread.. i need to get together a board of directors and elect a president and officers.

  we need to figure out a doctrine, a manifesto, and a set of disciplinary rules.

  we need to figure out a way to fund our new movement.

  I've been giving this a great deal of thought since I first saw it posted.

  After careful consideration, I would like to apply for "Nameless Rabble". I'll do all the work, contribute the money, clean up the messes, and defend the leaders tirelessly, no matter how they blunder.

  My credentials as a long-time JW woman should speak for themselves. I can also gather many recruits to join me, because Nameless Rabble requires vast numbers.
