  I would say it depends on whether you are a male of female.

  I have seen older, well educated men, marry younger practically illiterate

  women and the men have complete control over the younger woman

  and are continually advising and correcting her and explaining things to her.

  It gives me the creeps. Women generally want a man who is at least as well

  educated as she is and therefore interesting to talk to and has similar interests.

  Two people who have specialized careers in very specific areas, marine biologists,

  or artists, or archaeologists might enjoy working together and their similar education

  is a bond. The older educated man and the illiterate young woman, is a Pygmalion

  model and has long existed in history. For most of us, we just want someone we

  can talk to, on an equal level.

  I'm confused - I long ago left the WT - so I do not attend meetings

  and this forum is my only way of knowing what is happening in the

  "organization" but my question is this, isn't anyone at all questioning

  this latest brazen theft of money from congregations ? What excuse

  can they have to impoverish every congregation ? They have no outreach

  no work of any kind they perform for the poor, the old, the orphan or

  the widows or the homeless, they provide nothing to anybody but piles

  of literature that says the same thing over and over.

  You do realize that other churches do not have "literature" and Bibles are

  provided in the church as you walk in and song books, and coffee and

  refreshments are served before service and after, thats the way most

  churches operate, and some serve lunch, in addition to all kinds of

  charities run by churches.

  Is anyone in the Kingdom Hall raising any objections ? Asking any questions ?

  The Watchtower runs no day care centers, no schools, no housing projects, no

  summer camps for kids, and no recreation programs or music programs.

  Nothing at all for those who attend the Kingdom Hall, but chairs to sit in.

  Is no one wondering or doing the math on this ? Do the rank and file even

  know they sold off the Brooklyn New York buildings ? And that the Watchtower

  sign was taken down ? Do they know about the multi million dollar law suits ?

  as a jw i always believed that dinosaurs at one point existed.

  my whole family did, almost all the jws i knew did.

  one time i was out for dinner, and one of the people with us was convinced that they never existed.

  Can't somethng die without God being the one to kill it ?

  May be these numbers in the Bible are not literal and the term

  "a thousand years is as one day" Does NOT mean a thousand years IS one day.

  And God's plans and time schedules change according to what we do and think,

  that was illustrated in the Book of Jonah. Jonah is told to go to the Nineveh and

  tell the people God was going to destroy them all. The people said "what?" and they

  re-thought their appalling conduct and God called the whole thing off.

  Jesus said there would be no sign but the sign of Jonah, the disgruntled prophet

  who called down destruction and it never happened. Hmmm So?

  Well, what if we ourselves change our own destiny and the outcome of events

  by our behaviour ? And that we shape our own futures by our actions ?

  any current or ex jw knows there is a lot of counsel against association with nice people that do not share your faith.

  i think this is very damaging for personal growth, we never really can challenge our convictions, we become stunted in ability to reason and make personal decisions.

  this is also why the organization has fought against "higher education" so hard.

  anyone else get the distinct impression that jws are being worked up into a frenzy with all the changes and activity nowadays?

  by the end of august, there will have been four campaigns inside of a year.

  one last november, a memorial campaign, a convention campaign and an advertise jw.org campaign.. then there's the conventions with all the hooplah around that with all the video, and the aggrandizement of synchronized gb talks.

  WT wizard - I am wondering if you could not dial back the Joke-hova stuff ?

  God is not to blame for the Watchtower and insulting Him makes

  some of us uncomfortable. The Watchtower is a Pyramidology based,

  Jesus degrading and Jesus insulting, self serving, self aggrandizing ,

  deluded, "Governing Body worshipping" Cult, of the worst sort.

  The Governing Body of as they refer to themselves "glorious ones"

  or "anointed" or "faithful and discreet slave" are the ones that

  misrepresented God, and demoted Jesus to Angel, and teach

  hateful doctrines and continue to do so. You don't need to insult God

  you already did that by being a Jehovah's Witness.

  and now you make Him seem ridiculous, so why blame God for this cult ?

  We are living on this planet, air to breathe, compliments of God.

  Oceans? Clouds? Birds? Beaches? Waves? Food growing on trees ?

  Mountains, rivers, music, love all around, its a great world really.

  this topic is prompted by a phrase used by darth rutherford in his excellent life story.

  he said that jw's sit there nodding their heads at what is said from the platform, and, i paraphrase, :.

  "they do not know why they believe as they do, but they are prepared to die for those beliefs".. i feel strongly that jw's in this position, and it is only a very few who can explain and attempt to justify their beliefs, are the same as radicalised muslims.. these islamists, mainly young men, can spout slogans, and can sometimes even explain what their beliefs are in a half-arsed way, but thay cannot explain, in words that actually make rational sense, why they believe as they do.. jehovah's witnesses are, in the main, exactly the same.

  This phenomena of extreme devotion, people are capable of in a their

  delusion, is seen in religions and the Military, the ability to lay down your life.

  Its a human trait we both admire and when misused, we fear, because we know its power.

  Animals have been know to display this as well, for their young. The Watchtower exploits

  this goodness in people to twist it to serve the organization, to their death.

  As Kipling put it:

  All in the valley of Death

  The Watchtower Society is SO similar to the Catholic Church its uncanny.

  Outlaw puts it in humor - It is an actual fact. The governing Body is like the Pope

  and Cardinals, then you have Bishops and Priests, and women are considered nothing,

  but do most of the work religiously. The Catholics excommunicate, the WT disfellowships.

  The difference is the Catholics actually do help people and the WT does no charity work

  at all, they just collect money and are unaccountable to the people they take it from.

  On the issue of the NAME it is a ploy to degrade Jesus Christ. The name Jehovah is

  used by a lot of other denominations and Yaweh and other Biblical names for God.

  The combining of Adonai and YHWH by a monk to use the consonants of one and '

  the vowels of the other to make a "pronounceable" non Hebrew name is hilarious.

  No disrespect intended by me to God. But the actual worship of this mistaken name

  by the witnesses in their ignorance is sadly ironic.

  Midweek Meetings no longer Necessary

  i am sure we have all seen the recent letter to the boe concerning the change that will take place to the meeting arrangement during the week of the co visit.

  to recap the basics: the meeting that usually contains the cong bible study (book study) and a co talk will be discontinued, publishers are encouraged to use their family worship night that week to cover book study material.. so here is a point that i think has been missed, or not even considered:.

  if that particular meeting is hereby deleted from the schedule, the co and his wife will never ever have to participate in or go to another "book study", or "bible study" night again.

  The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is a publishing company

  and a real estate holding non profit corporation. They are focused

  on advertising themselve and controlling the rank and file and directing

  all obedience and money and time to the service of some entity they call

  "the organization" and eight men they refer to as "glorious ones"

  The word "organization" is not even in the Bible, meditate deeply on that fact.

  Meditate and ponder deeply on the fact no governing body existed in the

  early church and Jesus said he himself was the sole mediator, for everyone,

  not simply a selected group. Anointed was a term used to describe the pouring

  out of holy spirit on ALL mankind, everyone. The governing body's claim to be

  the "sole channel of communication" between man and God, places them, "standing in the holy place"

  and is in fact "the man of lawlessness" who draws people after themselves and away

  from Jesus Christ. Did you go to the memorial and see the mass rejection of

  Jesus command to "do this in remembrance of me" DO IT not sit there and refuse to.

  This cult is evil and dangerous , I know I was faithfully in it for 30 years.

  Blind as a bat to what it really was. Blind but now I see.
