My latest university experience...

this isn't a jw experience, but for those of you that have been following my life, i thought i'd have a drink and share this strange event in my post-jw life.. for you wonderful newbies, you can catch up on highlights of my story in the few threads i've started here.

i'm finishing the junior year of my engineering degree and the classes are hard as hell.

i used to be among the smartest students in the room until i hit the 300 level university courses.

Billy - He is taking you under his wing - he sees something in you -

Critical thinking - is not memorization and regurgitating back

what you read. This is what happened to you - you were taught

to memorize what is in front of you and repeat it back,

like in a Watchtower or 'book' study.

All original thought was stomped on.

A Japanese adult student in one of my classes, in Vancouver,

said he brought his son to Canada to go to school,

because in the Japanese culture there is a saying; :

"The nail that sticks up, will be pounded down."

Freedom of thought and criticism of doctrine or books

is not allowed in the Kingdom Hall.

You become fear based in your thinking to avoid punishment.

Feeling 'Safe' intellectually is not possible as a JW.

This professor of yours has the wisdom to realize

you need that safe and creative environment to

develop your critical thinking skills. I am so happy for you.

Disfellowshipped from Bethel??

my question is it harder to be reinstated if you were disfellowshipped while at bethel.

i have someone who i worry about because of fear what he might do?

he has been denied at least twice even though he goes to all meeting and has tried so hard..

Tell him to read Crisis of Conscience and get OUT and get a LIFE.

Why is he "trying so hard" ???

Deut 18:22 If a prophet (sole channel of communication between

God and mankind/governing body) predicts something,

and it does not come true

(examples: 1914 ,1975, 1925 ) do not fear him, he is False Prophet.

The so-called "faithful and discreet slave" not a sound doctrine,

is NOT a "Class" It is NOT representing Jehovah or Christ,

they lie and decieve and never take responsibility, they never say

"we made a mistake" " its our fault" They blame and blame and

shame and blame. This is Spiritual ABUSE. They are False Prophets

who claim to be the "Mediator".

This means they are 'standing in the holy place'

So why would you want to be reinstated ???

They DO NOT HAVE "the sayings of truth"

that is the title of the second study of the feb. 15, 2013 magazine (page 8).

to the left of the title a picture appears showing three people holding very old watchtower magazines from the early 1900's.

i have been studying jw's history and doctrines for less than a year and i already have far more knowledge than most c.o.

The doctrines of the WT are all copied from the early Adventists.

They prevent you from coming to Jesus Christ and even go so far

as to tell you you cannot eat the bread and rink the wine as Jesus

asked you to do in remembrance of him. They create false doctrines

of "classes" Read the scriptures, the other sheep which are not of this

fold are the Gentiles and Jesus knew they would be brought into the

one flock, one Shepard. They tell people they cannot be part of the

Body of Christ, that that is only for 144,000, which is a number from

Revelation, a book in which ALL the numbers are symbolic, not literal.

The WT has made false predictions and proved they are a "false prophet"

Read Deuteronomy 18:22 Jesus said you must be born again to enter

the Kingdom, did any WT ever tell you this "saying of life" ?

It is the Watchtower Society who is blinded by the devil

into declaring themselves to be the "sole channel of communication

between mankind and God " The set themselves up as the "Mediator".

Which means they stand in the Holy Place of Christ Jesus, the Mediator.

The governing body has a long legacy of failed predictions and false

inerpretations. Deuteronomy 18:22 22 When a prophet speaks

in the name of Adonai, and the prediction does not come true

— that is, the word is not fulfilled —

then Adonai did not speak that word.

The prophet who said it spoke presumptuously;

you have nothing to fear from him. (Jewish Bible)

Wycliffe Bible:

Deuteronomy 18:22

...to know a false prophet from a true prophet;

If what that prophet saith beforehand in the name of the Lord,

cometh not, then the Lord did not speak it,

but the false prophet feigned his prophecy through

the pride of his soul, and so thou shalt not fear him.

So - again how many things has the WT predicted that

did not come true ? Prophets rising in 1925 , predicted in the

Millions Now Living Will Never Die, hoopla of Rutherford ??

How is that working for you ? Never happened. Those of an

age of understanding in 1914 will still be alive at Armaggedon ?

That would make them, what, one hundred and fifteen years old ?

1975 the predicted date of the beginning of the thousand year reign,

on earth as in, paradise ? How is this paradise working for you ?

first post, been lurking for a bit.

i have been seeing problems in the org for a couple of years now and could not come up with any answers.

recently i researched the topics of mediator and new covenant and thats when the sh8t hit the fan.

Secure your rights to your children,(if your wife decides to leave)

If you are an American or Canadian, or English you have rights.

Your parental rights are part of Family Law. Research these rights.

Attorneys will usually give you an interview for free or a small fee.

Understand your rights. Maintain your cool. If your wife loves you,

she will hopefully stand by you. You know her better than anyone.

Do not debate with the elders. It will lead nowhere but to your harm.

Writing letters will get you disfellowshipped, thats a fact.

This organization does not tolerate criticism of any kind, it is an

absolute dictatorship. Would you spit in the face of Hitlar ?

jesus always used illustrations to help people reason on the import of what he was saying.

here is an illustration followed by a reality;.

imagine that your heart went out to all those poor people who suffered when fukushima blew up, so much so, that when an internationally renowned charity asked for donations to help those in need, you donated $5000 to the cause.

Good Grief - I had no idea - I was sooo naive.

I think most rank and file are, they do not put 2+2 together

This information astounds me. I was convinced of the absolute

"purity" of this organization, unbelievable. I was like many here.

I clung to the ideas no matter what the evidence. The "core" beliefs,

I couldn't comprehend what was actually going on for so long.

I read COC in about 1990 Then it was still a long journey to free

myself from the lingering belief that the doctrines were correct.

Jehovah's Witnesses and the KILLER INSTINCT

i have never known a female jehovah's witness who had the same "killer instinct" that some (if not many) of the brothers have.. what is this "killer instinct"?.

it is the interior motivation to attack and destroy somebody who disagrees with them.. .

primarily there are two manifestations of this.. 1.engaging in a "discussion" (door to door, debate, face-off with clergy, casual conversation with fellow jw's) about the bible, doctrine or true teaching.. 2.inside a judicial committe meeting--grilling a suspect and extracting a confession.

EASTER QUIZ: Where is the missing prophecy Jesus fulfilled?

since today is celebrated by christians all over the world as easter sunday.... here is sort of a puzzle to solve--if you are interested in things such as this.. .

we begin with luke 24:46. we have a claim being made about a prophecy.. speaking to his disciples on the night of his alleged resurrection, he said, "thus it is written and thus it was necessary for the christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day.

" that the resurrection of christ on the third day was prophesied in the scriptures was claimed also by the apostle paul in 1 corinthians 15:3-4: "for i delivered to you first of all that which i also received: that christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

Possibilities:

1. Said by Jeremiah but later written by Zechariah

2. Zechariah's second name is Jeremiah, like "Simon Peter", for Peter

3. Copyist mistake, the Syriac and Persion versions have no prophet listed

but the Greek versions do.

4. This is a quote from an apocryphal work of Jeremiah,

like when Jude quotes from the book of Enoch (no such book in modern Bible )

5. The last four chapters of Zechariah were actually written by Jeremiah.

6. Matthew is using the well-establishe rabbinical formula of referring to a

collection of books by the first book in the collection. Jesus used a similar

formula in Luke 24:44 when he referred to, Writings section,

of the Hebrew scriptures, as "Psalms", this can include

other writings such as Proverbs.

Do other churches use the name Jehovah?

i have seen on this site recordings of jw elders at tribunal meetings claim other churches hate the name jehovah.

one former baptist now jw elder said other churches hate the name and never use it.

please look at the following and there are many more hymns not included than these.

So the title: "Jehovah's Witness" was first applied to

an Egyptian Pyramid Russell thought held the "secrets of all prophecy"

Jehovah, is the English version of Yahweh:

Christian Churches that use the name Jehovah or Yahweh, are:

(1) Assemblies of Yahweh, (a Christian movement.)

(2) Sacred Name Movement( American religious group )

(3) House of Yahweh (black supremacist )

(4) Nation of Yahweh( founded by Yahweh ben Yahweh )

(5) Prophet of Yahweh ( American UFOlogist )

as people get older they inevitably lose more of their friends and family.

the doctrine that binds them to the truth like superglue is the doctrine of the resurrection.

they ache to see their dead rise.. so ... i die.

The WT is simplistic, the words of Jesus were mystical

Look at the new Hubble deep space photos on the NASA site,

The universe is mysterious, look at the National Geographic site's photos

of strange sea creatures, inexplicable. Creatures from science fiction.

fish with head-lights to see in the dark ?

the ability to change their entire shape and form as well as color.

We live in a miraculously inexplicable universe full of surprises,

just when we think we 'know it all', some weird thing emerges.

We are energy, electricity, moving molecules of atoms and quarks.

Physics itself tells us, nothing can be destroyed, it only changes form.

So the question IS : Does this scientific law include conscientiousness ???
