  DATA-Dog - could I respectfully suggest that God, YHWH, Jesus or anything

  in the Bible is not responsible for the Watchtower and

  God did not "do" any of this.

  Separate God from these jerks please.

  "the rnwt replaces "kyrios" (lord) with "jehovah" in translating romans 14:8 as follows:.

  "for if we live, we live to jehovah,*+ and if we die, we die to jehovah.

  This IS very odd and actually humorous, because the WT claims they do not

  think Jesus is God and yet they knowingly put their version of the name of God

  to replace Jesus ? Indicating they really ARE Trinity believers ? They are making

  Jesus into God Almighty in their new translation ? Thats great news.

  What an ironic twist this is.

  this site is probably one of the most informative jw sites on the internet.

  if you want to keep abreast of the watchtower, this is a great place to find out the latest in jw land.

  kudos to simon for keeping it going all these years!!!

  Lost Generation The point I am trying to get across is, I do not care if you are an atheist.

  No-one cares that you are an atheist. Or who you are. So why care what I believe ?

  Why even say disrespectful things like "your little sky god" or imply that anyone who believes

  in anything you don't is open game to be insulted ? Or can't think straight because they have

  a different world view than you do ? Just let people BE. I don't even know who you are

  and I hope I never meet you. But basically this site should be SAFE. If someone comes here out

  of a cult and asks a religious question, and is evidently taking what the Watchtower says seriously

  and have invested their life in it, and are now agonizing over scriptual points, let someone try to

  help them gently see they way out in a way they can hear. And just a clue for you, to most people

  lurking and trolling this site the atheists do much harm, because the WT can say " See told you so,

  we are the place of spiritual safety, they are from Satan."

  That is how others, who are not of your persuasion, who are here and looking on might see this forum.

  It is after all called JWN which refers and attracts Jehovah's Witnesses and those who study with them

  or might be thinking of joining or trying to get out. And if you think just saying stuff like

  "your invisible sky god does not exist hahahah " is a big help to them - you are wrong.

  So just ask yourself what good are you doing anybody and why are you here?

  the more i read the gospels the more i get the feeling that jesus warns about organized religion or those that overbear on your faith telling you completely how to worship god.

  let's say luke chapter 12 is talking about the f&s.

  does vs 45 on mean that the f&s can turn bad so to speak?

  Vidiot - I don't think there is any reference here to the trinity.

  Its about who is using their gifts and who is not. The Christians believe

  in something the WT never speaks about, which is the body of Christ, which

  means all people united , equals , no classes, just in unity together within

  a spiritual brotherhood with Christ, no divisions, all are anointed, male and female.

  Its a concept that is in the New Testament, ( Greek Scriptures)

  in Romans, John and James and in pretty much every book and everything Jesus said.

  But you are told those scriptures do not apply to you. "By their fruits you will know them"

  The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society produces "fruits" in the form of atheists and god mockers.

  1914 did not bring the end they were hoping for so new light shone down from above and corrected their understanding.. 1925 also led to unfulfilled expectations and so new light was bestowed.. .

  (i could go through all the dates and expectations... but i won't.).

  what if the new light about 1914 being the year that christ returned was provided before 1914?

  HeyThere- Did she show the article or any written evidence of this alleged "apology" ?

  I was there in 1975 and 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 1980, 1981 ...

  and the only thing they did was say something like... "some have gone ahead and

  believed certain dates the Armageddon will occur " .... etc etc blaming

  the 'misunderstnding on the rank and file.

  They never took responsibility or apologized, and in fact thousands sold their houses

  and went pioneering and gave all their real estate and money to the society

  and impoverished themselves. I knew personally a couple who sold their house

  to pioneer, based on the things written about 1975.

  If the governing body only talked about these things, that would be one thing.

  But they insist that they are "right" even when they are wrong, and they never,ever,

  acknowledge the harm and impact of their "sole channel" claims and insistence on "obedience"

  to every zig-zag they make, has had on the long term lives of jws. They never say "We were

  wrong, and we apologize" " We made a mistake that caused others harm and we are sorry"

  They always try to blame it on the "rank and file" who "misunderstood" what they said.

  Deut 18:20 shows the test for a False Prophet . If they predict something and it does not happen

  then they are a False Prophet. You are not supposed to follow false prophets. So your clinging

  to an "organization" that God considers a False Prophet. False doctrines, false predictions,

  equals false religion. The "governing body" are not who they say they are. They are not the

  "sole channel of communication" between Man and God. There is no Biblical proof any "organization"

  is needed to represent God, the word "organization" does not appear in the Bible at all, anywhere.

  If this was so important don't you think Jesus would have mentioned it ? Jesus said he alone

  was the sole channel, the mediator to all mankind, not some made up class divisions.

  Deuteronomy 18:20 But any prophet who speaks in the name of other gods,

  or who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded

  the prophet to speak—that prophet shall die.”

  Memorization of material by rote depends on what kind of a learner

  you are. Grouping and organizing information and having students memorize

  is a rote method. As you have already observed it has nothing to do with

  anaylsis or critical thinking. Triggers can be helpful, color keys, associations,

  sounds or patterns.
