  Fraud?

  it seems that many who post on this board hold that the jw organization is a fraud, schemed mainly bu the g.b.

  members.

  but so far i have never read something as to the reasons behind the fraud.

  Their gain :

  The deep inner sensation of pure satisfaction and bliss knowing they have accomplished to their utmost ability the Lord’s divine purpose for the chosen representatives of his Faithful and Discreet Slave class while on earth

  « Well done, faithful and true slave. »

  There is no greater reward that to receive the adorning crown and glory of immortality and incorruptibility and to reign over humankind alongside the King of Kings

  In my opinion : some pretty lucky (whoops, sorry, I meant fortunate) « humble » Kings-In-Waiting who, I assure you, aren’t suffering while « slaving » for the Master

  My experience : take someone with supposedly noble motives and goals ... give him a position of direction with perks ... he invariably becomes a less noble person.

  Seen it hundreds of times inside the org. as well as out. Guess its human nature.

  Watchtower dogma : Lying is O.K - when the person being duped is the enemy.

  This is taught in pioneer school a few days into the 2 wk course. 1st Sam. 21 :12, 13 (David pretending to be off his rocker, making crosses, and slobbering on his beard in order to save his skin) is the example quoted and applied. The pions. are usually pretty shocked and the instructor tells them not to go around unnecessarily telling everyone. They he reminds all that it can come in handy to know that: It's O.K. to lie when it becomes necessary .

  its amazing the extent these circulate in the wt world.

  i am not so sure, but it develops a powerful folklore amongst jws....often with a moral at the end!

  typically these circulate as experiences given in talks and are then adopted by the masses as truth.. for example, anyone hear the ul about the married couple where the wife had to have a routine blood check.

  At a district ass. prior to ’75 we listened to a tower-sponsored speaker urging us to make sure not to end up being « a grape » in Jehovah’s great wine-press. He reminded us that the depth of blood would be so deep that horses would have to just about swim.

  Then the great revelation : Apparently some North American scientists had discovered an amazing phenomena. Eagles, vultures and other birds of prey were doubling production, producing enormous amounts of eggs, and these flesh-eating carnivores were suddenly becoming much more numerous. Now it seemed that these poor ignorant scientists just couldn’t explain the sudden changes in these bird’s reproductive cycles. With a gleam in his eye, the speaker thundered, « But we, Jehovah’s people, know why, don’t we now ? ... Brothers, these birds of prey are being gathered. Gathered for God’s great evening meal, to feast on the flesh of ... » . Everyone in the audience drew a rapid breath, then slowly exhaled at this indisputable proof that the end was so very near.

  We young ones decided it was time to get baptized if we didn’t want our eyes pecked- out.

  Another assembly lesson-legend from the wild land of Africa:

  The country was experiencing serious problems with rebel groups. Rumor had it that the rebels were in the area. So a brother decides not to go to the meeting and stand guard in front of his house with a spear. The rebels arrive in front of his house. He tells them he is one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. They reply that witnesses don’t bear arms and that they happen to know that all the J.W’s in the area are at their religious meeting. They kill the brother.

  Principals we must apply :

  don’t put worldly possessions above your meetings
  don’t use arms to defend yourselves
  don’t miss meetings

  I guess it was a converted rebel who related the conversation

  Here’s one from around here :

  A sister was having terrible trouble with one leg - the pain was so intense she could no longer walk on it. Because she couldn't get to meetings or out in service an elder visited her. On her desk, he happened to notice a music-box with a dancing ballerina holding one leg in the air . On a hunch he asked where she had got it. She had received it from a relative and it turned out that discussing this with the elder jogged her memory. Apparently the generous relative practiced demonic rites. The music box was promptly destroyed, the pain disappeared, and the sister resumed her spiritual activities.

  When this legend went around our area a sister suffering from depression and insomnia remembered she had bought her bed second-hand from a strange looking individual. After speaking with the elders, it was decided that it would be prudent to destroy the bed. ¾’ s of the cong. went to the dump for the bed burning ... no kidding. The pion. couple slept on the floor and the sister’s health improved ... for a while.

  like lonewolf, i am much dismayed at the haughty nature of many women on this site.

  what is this world coming to, when women dont know their correct position in subjection to men?.

  thankfully, gods channel of communication to mankind (tm, patent pending) have always been aware of the matter and addresses the respective positions of men and women.

  Lately a sister approached our local elders body to confess she was a thief. She had used her husbands ATM card to make a personal purchase without his knowledge.

  Because the amount was under $10.00 we decided not to form a committee and try her for stealing and probably have to disfellowship her - but we did get the husband in and have her confess to him - then we suggested to him in private to study appropriate WT articles with his wife in their family study asking her to comment on the points enabling her to keep more spiritually strong.

  What puzzles us elders is how this sister learned to use the ATM???

  Rescuing former drones could be considered quite a feat - would be a quick way to get yourself a J.W merit badge (privileges!!! who-e-e can't wait!!!)

  I understand your zeal and righteous indignation - you being newly converted and all - but reading apostate material is dangerous for your spiritual well-being - don’t you know the G.B. doesn’t want you to visit these sites - Keep in mind their timely council « You don’t need to read of bunch of lies to be sure of the truth» ... but if you won’t listen... then read on :

  For 45 years I argued the J.W viewpoint on Bible verse exactly like you are now doing

  over the years I argued revised viewpoint, without really worrying about it. But...

  somewhere along the line I asked myself

  If the G.B can’t even get a first-century governing-body letter right (Acts 15 :29 Good health to you)

  or the words of Jesus (Matt 24 :34 this generation)

  Is Jehovah really guiding them ? Is it justified to call it the TRUTH ?

  If the G.B. have problems understanding the words of Jesus and the older men of Jerusalem, how can I trust their comprehension and explanations on doctrine, prophecy and symbolism (Revelation, Ezekiel, Daniel for which they would have you believe they are able to comprehend and apply every syllable with their verse-by-verse commentaries)

  so keep your blinders on - don’t question - be submissive to God’s organization - attend every meeting and keep real busy in D2D (not just on the net) - You won’t notice any alterations in J.W. doctrine (that could start you actually « reasoning » ). You will believe you have a deep understanding of God’s word and you will find a certain « happiness » and « contentment » « doing God’s will »

  but don’t quote scripture taken out of context or applied to fit the J.W agenda to enlightened and emancipated J.W’s on J.W.com.
  Please ! ! !
