Will the GB now accept Higher Learning???
by 7Starz inreported in many news outlets today including the wall street journal: president obama is pushing for the first two years of a community college to be included in the normal education of the country's children.
the education law currently has a free education from k-12 and obama now wants to include a 2 year community college degree for free (well the tax payers will pick up the tab).
so basically k-12 and a 2 year college associates degree.. if this becomes law, will the gb change their view on higher education and say:.

I doubt that they would change their education stance soon after condemning it so heartily. Depending on where you live, higher education is a practical necessity. Where I'm from, you can't even get in the door of a good company without a degree or lots of experience. So for young adults, without that degree, you're stuck working a low wage job. I wonder if the free 2 year community college would apply to adults who never completed a degree? If it goes through I wouldn't mind taking advantage of this myself! -

I think that wearing the logo can be considered as a form of idol worship. I mean, you're not even supposed to wear clothes that display the brand name so how can wearing the brand of your religion NOT be considered idol worship. -

From 1 to 10, how do you rate the value of the Internet in your awakening?
by Hidden-Window inas we all know, the internet is a real game-changer in allowing us to know the truth about the watch tower and its history.
i always had doubts and it was the internet that presented me with the ever-growing number of individuals who were going through a similar struggle.. i give the internet a 9 in my awakening.
what about you?.

10.
I had no inkling of anything wrong with the WTS. I believed my dad when he said the brouhaha over 1975 was just the brothers and sisters going ahead of the org. I was full on lock step with the 1995 generation teaching change. I was just apathetic because the meetings were boring and I hated field service. Then I started trying to get KMs online, which brought me to this site. I knew I was getting the KMs from an apostate site but I didn't care. One day, I actually started reading some posts. Then read more stuff on other sites. Eye opening.

Stupid comment Witness made about the Exodus film.
by Trapped in JW land ini was talking with two brothers at the kingdom hall the other day.
one of them suggested seeing the new exodus movie.
the other brother says, "i heard it's really violent"!

This brings to mind what my 9 year old son said this past Friday while watching Guardians of the Galaxy... "Daddy, this movie is really violent!" My reply.. "Well, if you don't want to watch, you can go outside." Guess who stayed to finish the movie. It honestly was quite shocking. This came from a kid who loves watching little fuzzy animals get beat on in Pokemon and watching and playing light saber battles in Star Wars. I've got to intiate some advanced de-indoctrination techniques on the child before it starts getting worse.

I heard a good analogy the other day.
If I jump out of a two story window for the fun of it I would be putting my life in danger I think most would agree. Now if the house was burning down and the only chance I had of survival was to jump out that window almost everyone would say I did it to save my life and would agree on that choice.
Now take that with blood. To just abuse blood for the fun of it I would agree that it is completely wrong. Now if your survival depended on blood, even if it may come with risks, it’d be worth doing to save your life. Somehow I think God (if he’s out there) would agree.
That is a great analogy! Gotta remember that one.

Today's Watchtower study. Good example of "talk is cheap."
by stillin inall about love.
how to do it.
why jw's are the experts at it.. gag.

It pissed me off that the watchtower glossed over the "Who is my neighbor?" question. All they do is pretty much quote the scripture without any application. I don't know how anyone can read that parable and not think, "What about disfellowshipped ones?" How can you love DF ones while shunning them? Those 2 don't go together at all. I couldn't stomach the rest of the study. Stupid lemmings...

I found this site searching for KM downloads about 2 years ago. I was a 100% believer at the time but considered "spiritually weak" as I was rarely attending meetings and hardly ever went out in service. If WT provided digital copies from the get go, I would never have found this site. So I guess I'm thankful to them for that.

Hypocrisy of a paragraph in the "Draw Close to Jehovah" book!
by stuckinarut2 in"draw close to jehovah" book.
page 106, para 20:.
20 does serving whole-souled mean that we must all spend the same amount of time and energy in the ministry?

@KateWild your comment about headaches and depression are on point. Before every meeting, I always have some sort of headache or nausea. Then I would get depressed when I see my wife getting herself and the children ready. While at the meeting, I'm hardly ever paying attention as I'm mostly up and about with my little one. The few times that I get to pay attention, I get to hear all the bullshit spewing forth from everyone.
I've managed to stop going out in FS. I don't really care if I get judged. If someone says anything, I'll just shove Matthew 7:1,2 in their face.

Did you ever actually believe the JW fantasy version of "Paradise"?
by Darth Fader The Sequel ini am sure this topic has probably been discussed many times before but,......... i would like reassurance that i am not the only one who gagged every time i heard a jw pontificating on their fantasy version of what "paradise" will be like.
particularly when it comes to the animals.
more specifically, that the animals will all become vegetarians.

Unfortunately, I wholeheartedly believed in the paradise up until recently. Always thought that I would have a pet tiger. Nowadays, it seems like JW don't think about the practical daily life in "Paradise". For example, there would not be any electricity and no running water. Where would the food come from? Not very many know how to farm. I guess Jah would have to provide mana again, at least in the beginning. I'm not so sure that many JW would be ready to live a subsistence living life style. Are people really ready for this? It's all just romanticized.

Silence after stating my confusion about "144,000"
by tidalblitz inthe other night, i was told about a question that a friend's bible study had asked them.
the bible study asked: "if jesus is perfect, why does he need the 144,000 to help him rule?
" this friend does not know how to answer this question.

It amazes me how I never thought critically about the teachings and doctrines before. Like a lot of born-ins, you just accept. The indoctrination of young ones is disturbing. I even got baptized without even really wanting to.. it was what everyone else was doing, so why not?
It makes me truly afraid that people can believe 100% that JW is the one true religion without even analyzing what is being taught, much less even knowing what is taught.
For myself, I've boiled down the JW faith into one simple question (or two) with a YES/NO answer: Do you believe the Governing Body is God's sole channel for bible truth.
-If you answer YES, then you accept everything lock, stock, and barrel. If YES, what scriptural evidence do you or did you use to convince yourself of that?
-If the answer is NO, then why are you letting these men control how you think?
