  was it ezicle who said the eventuality of man is the same as for the animal, as one dies so does the other.

  or something like that.. man has to die because he sinned, that's the price one has to pay.

  what sins have animals committed?

  how about this thought for you to chew on,

  death in the OT was to be annilated, this could be the "death" that man was to suffer, it may be that it was not the end of the body at all, what is that it god, he need not have you end with your body.
  
  then in the NT "death" no longer has a hold of man, the christ opened the way to the father. man no longer ends with his bodies demise.

  if this was the case it would explain why man and animal, may have, the same end. the animal, being innocent, never suffered "death" (OT style) man no longer suffers "death" man now lives forever and never "dies"(OT style)

  god tested abraham by telling him to sacrafice his son issac.

  since god is omniscient (knows all, knows the end from the beginning) he already knew abraham would go through with it unless god stopped him.

  what was the purpose of this test?.

  well said.

  how about thinking on this, what if it was not so much a test, as an experience. both father and son would have been profoundly changed by the experience. what if what god was doing was changing his people, into what thay could not become with out knowing the extent of there faith. maby he was also, preparing them to recieve the christ.

  in a test your knowledge is not greater than it was before the test. a test only lets the ones who need to know what the limits of the knowledge, the one tested already posess. i think this would also apply to a test of faith.

  i have two questions, mostly for commited christians, though i'm sure somehow, that others will reply too.. 1) does prayer change god or his mind?.

  2) if not, why pray?.

  i have my own opinion on the subject, but i may be adjusting my understanding of god.. have fun!.

  1 maby it was always gods mind to give us strength and the help we need (not the same thing as what we think we need and not neccessarily what we ask for)

  2 if not why pray? if not what? you want to change god? if you can't chang gods "mind" why pray to him?

  maby he will change us.

  when you were a witness (or even if youre still reluctantly attached like me), did you have a favourite kingdom melody (why couldnt they just be called hymns by the way)?.

  "I visited the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris last year, and in it was strange how in just the few minutes I spent in there, I was really moved by the music being played in there. Certainly a lot more moved than I’ve ever been moved in the (what seems like hundreds of) years I’ve been attending the Kingdom Hall."

  moving you is just what a cathedral is for. it is a place outside of this world, whan you walk in it is cooler then outside, the light is different, all is still, the songs are prayer, you can hear the worship in them, you are no longer in the world of men if you enter with an open mind it is not hard to let go of worldly things, you are in a place were you can be with god. ofcourse you can do that anywhere, but it is not allways easy. i found the KHs to be a place of men and not outside the world at all, i didn't see any worship in them only sad people snubbing eachother, it is more important there to be NOT catholic, than to sing TO god. episical churches and some other protesant churches are also good places to "be with god". but my personal favorit place to let go of the world is in the mountains.

  Marijuana...should it be legalised?

  after talkin in chat tonight....it has got me and a friend talkin about whether marijuana should be legalised.. my view...yes, .

  i) who has the right to tell me what to do with my own body?.

  ii) alcohol is a legalised drug....each year more deaths occur through alcohol abuse than marijuana usage.. iii) people smoke it anyway and the question is not bein addressed.. iv) it's great to get stoned!!!

  if you want to know more about why pot enterd a state of prohabition you might like to read, the emperor wears no clothes. it was the logging industry and the chemical companies that lobbied against it. some gerk came up with a way to make better paper out of hemp then woodfiber with only 3 chemicals instead of the 5 that thay used for wood paper. big big $$$$.

  so hemp goes the way of the slant 6 engine.

  the may 15 2000 watchtower page 4 indicated that scholars at the jesus seminar had concluded that 82% of all the words attributed to jesus in the gospels were not authentic but 'derived from later tradition'.. it is difficult to say for yourself but i do find it remarkable that pauls letters do not contain any references to jesus' life, history or more importantly his teachings.

  the sermon the mount, lords prayer or the golden rule etc.

  do not get a mention in his words to fledgling congregations.

  one thing to remember is that the bible did not exist in the early years of christianity. it is an compilation of early christian writings put together by a group of catholic biships. what thay put in and what thay left out was there choice not gods.

  if you say i don't belief, because there are no known writings about this or that. you must think that all the eraly witings survived the times rome was sacked and the dark ages. i think much was lost.

  rembmber the persicution of the early christians, do you think the romans, killed the people but saved there witten documents? or do you think thay would have destroyed the written teachings in order to put an end to christianity..

  look at the glass of water on your table 50% of the glass is water. is it half full or half empty?? you are given two choices. but i tell you truely the glass is full. if you say it is not so you are only believing what you can see not what is. the glass is full.

  50% liquid, 50% gas

  i have read the various posts here an i have my own story to tell i amstill a witness not as active as i used to be but stillfaithful i think the main problem that jws have is that they put c.o's m.s's elders and the like on pedestals and when you do that you set yourself up for a letdown and when that person does something you dont think is right you are letdown but one should not let this block his/her relationship with jehovah.

  3 Gods Equal 1 God?

  as i sat back thinking of some of the discussions i've had with witnesses over the years, one always stands out.

  the issue of the trinity teaching, whereby father(jehovah), son(jesus), and holy spirit when combined equal one god.

  a witness friend from work once said that it was an impossability, and was beyond human understanding.. i asked him what he thought we believed about the trinity, to which he responded with a math lesson.. 1 jehovah god + 1 jesus god + 1 holy spirit god = 3 gods, he went on to state that 1 + 1 + 1 can never equal 1 god, it always equals 3. to which i added a little math lesson i learned as a child.. 1 jehovah god x 1 jesus god x 1 holy spirit god can equal 1 almighty god.

  i thought you read JOHN, ofcourse it is not neccessary to accept the trinity, what is the only things that are wrtten in john that are neccessary? faith in jesus as the mosiah, love for all, the holy spirit. what else is there that are not in these 3 things?
