Tatiana,
Thank you for your post; you put it beautifully! You are really something, you know that?
Sincerely, Windrider
without being slagged off for opinions expressed, without being ridiculed often, without constant smart ass one liners and put downs, how could we given the opportunity get along better together?
not utopia, not this, not that, just a simple question in need of simple upbuilding replies that enable this place more to reflect the care for others it supposedly sets out to achieve.. any comments?.
here we go (rolling his eyes) .... peace.

And one more quick thought to ponder: For those of us who used to be JW's...... would we have responded favorably, seen the light,if we were treated to personal slights, name-calling, etc. by those who supposedly were trying to help us see the society for what it is, a fallible, harmful, man-made religion? I know it would not have worked with me. If anything it would have just given me the excuse I needed to ignore whatever pertinent facts I had been shown about the "truth" and just write it off to the bitter ramblings of rude, unfriendly, crass apostates...just like the society warned me against.

Lydia, I liked what you said about directing the anger where it belongs...at the organization, not at the posters who "dare" to post here. After all, many of us here used to hold the same opinions and philosophies on things. Many of us here used to abide by the society's stand on shunning, homosexuality, etc. and with our dying breath would defend our position. Were we horrible, stupid people then or just people, who in my opinion, were horribly mislead? Good motives, bad philosophy.

Good question, Celtic! One thing that comes to my mind is to appreciate that you dont have to agree with another's philosophies in order to respect them as a person and to treat them with respect and tolerance.

today marks the 14th anniversary of my marriage to my wonderful, loving, handsome husband.
i met him at work.
we were in the same department at the time.
Dear Puffsrule,
I am SO happy for you!! What a beautiful story of true love. Im so glad you had the courage to stand up to your ex and not quit your job and to finally leave all together.
Congratulations on 14 wonderful years together and here's to another 50 at least! I hope your evening tonight is filled with love, laughter and wonderful memories.....you both deserve it.

i am missing windrider and decided to write this.. sometimes people wonder if a fairy tale can come true.
sometimes you give up one soulmate to only to find a better one later.. many years ago, i had met my soulmate.
a wonderful woman who wanted to spend the rest of her life with me.
Ah sweetheart... Thank you! I'm missing you too As you can tell, I am obviously home now, the boys are in bed and I have a moment to myself.
The hardest part about being so madly in love with you is that it makes leaving you each time so unbearable. It's funny but you are the skeptic and yet it was you who taught me to believe in things like true love, and ever after and that you CAN make your dreams come true if you dont give up. You, above all, know how much you have given back to me and if I lived to be a hundred it wouldnt be long enough now that I have found you! Each day is precious, regardless of the obstacles and hurdles we face, both together and separately; and no matter what life throws our way I know it will be alright because no matter how bad it gets, I have your love and you have mine...and that is everything that really matters isnt it?!
Hungry4Life, I dont think holding out until you find your soulmate, or the person you cant live without, as opposed to just someone you can live with, is being selfish at all. Quite the contrary. Everyone deserves to be loved deeply and cherished. No one wants to be the person that someone just "settles for". Hang in there for you never know what each day might bring or who you might meet.
And LDH, speaking for myself, Richard is the most amazing man I have ever been fortunate enough to meet and while it might seem corny or schmaltzy to say, he is the man I always dreamed of as a little girl and grew to fear I would never meet. He really is my one in a million true love.I realizeeveryday how fortunate he and I are and how rare what we have is. I try never to take it for granted. Heaven knows, I dont want to end up on Jerry Springer!
Sincerely, Robin
okay fess up: whats your handle mean?.
my handle: mindchild comes from computer scientist and futurist dr. hans moravec: who wrote the book, the future of robot and human intelligence which is a book about when we will be able to construct machines capable of human intelligence and raises the possibility of uploading ourselves (every thought we ever had) into an android body much superior to the human ones we have now.
i entertain the hope that not only will i live long enough to see this happen, i will transfer myself (the complete essence of what is me) into a body of my own choosing and become immortal if i so choose.
Windrider is a character from the X-men comic series by Marvel. Well, the actual character is called Storm but Windrider is another title given to her......she is an inspirational character to me because through adversity she has kept a wonderful code of ethics, her dignity and is emotionally very strong. All things I would like to embody.
Sincerely,
Robin
in the case of silent lambs versus the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses.. did you ever think that discussing these cases here accompanied by your vitriole against all things watchtower could be used to:.
1. show that ex jehovahs witnesses harbor such a hatred for the watchtower society that they will say anything to discredit them.. 2. show that there is a network of ex jehovahs witnesses that may have helped to create these abuse accusations in the alledged victims' minds or at least have encouraged them, even unwittingly, to exaggerate their claims.. i guarantee you that the watchtower society has documented every word anyone here has said, especially on this issue.
i can easily see a defense team using it to, if not exonerate accused molesters and the watchtower society, to at least create a reasonable doubt regarding their guilt.. if your hatred of the watchtower causes you to join in irrational behavior and accusations, you have to contemplate the fact that you may be adding to the future grief of any real victims.. i present this for your thoughtful consideration.. as always, i wish all here peace.. joel
JoelBear,
I am really sorry if I misread or didnt understand where you were coming from on this post. I am all for everyone trying their best to discuss topics in a fair and balanced manner.
Take care,
Windrider

Dear JoelBear,
Are you saying that you do not believe there have been any actual cases of child sexual abuse among Jehovah's Witnesses; or that the very few that may have been committed are so few as to not bear looking at? Or do you think, while there have been remote cases, they were immediately handled by the elders in a proper, legal manner rather than just swept under the carpet or ignored completely?
For what it is worth, I can quote to you a conversation I had with Dr. Larry Onoda, PH.d(psychologist) in Reseda, Calif. He is not only a wonderful Psychologist, but also was the presiding overseer of his congregation.
I asked him if there were ever a time when he decided to quit seeing a patient and referred them elsewhere and he said, "Yes; when the patient was found to be committing incest or child sexual abuse. That is one thing that I just cannot handle, it disgusts me so and I just cannot be a worthy doctor to them, so I refer them elsewhere and also, tell appropriate authorities."
I said, "OH, for some reason I thought you only saw Jehovah's Witnesses!" And his answer, which was chilling to me at the time, was, "I do!" He said it happens far more often than the society would like us to believe and that afterall, Jehovah's Witnesses are just imperfect humans with the same foiables and subject to the same deviancies as anyone else.
Just some food for thought as it was for me at the time. For the record, I do not hate any Jehovah's Witness. I lost literally lifelong friends as well as family when I decided to follow my conscience and disassociate myself a few yrs. ago. But I do not hate them or anyone. I do however get incensed when I think of the hypocrisy of the organization. The lies, the half-truths, the power over life and death they wield and the power to break up families and friends. That I intensely dislike and have no love for. The people are people. I have found that most people, in and out of the organization are basically kind, want what most of us want. I have also found the opposite, both in and out. Sometimes, people suck! :)
I am concerned that you are making sweeping generalities about the people who post here. Isnt that the very thing that you are decrying with regard to posts on JW's?
I wish you well,
Most sincerely,
Windrider
that was for cygnus, mostly.
