nyc_gal,
Feewww! thanks for the warning, would of ever guessed.

i cannot believe some of the horrible things i have read here.
nyc_gal,
Feewww! thanks for the warning, would of ever guessed.
hi everyone!
well, im a newbie here, so ill make this short!
ive showed my mom the ngo status the watchtower shared with the un for 10 years now... of course, shes now denying it was a bad decision... she says the un is bad as a whole, but joining in as an ngo is okay since its not directly with the un... any tips?
fed up,
Jw's as you must already know are under Mind Control and are taught to think no negative thoughts about the Organization.
That being said you will have your hands full trying to convince your mother about WT wrong doing.
As already mention the more info you get the better you will be able to help your mother. Thank God for the internet.
I wish you success.
perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.
Jdub,
I think you hit onto something:
i should probably start a new thread for this, but for now ill just keep it on this neverending thread. the market closed about an hour ago, and i just happened to take a look at csco a minute ago. When I read your post as quoted above I was thinking since this thread is read often by many lets turn it into a stock discusion thread.
Just a question do you use graphs? Do you see any CUPS WITH A DOWNWARD SLOPING HANDLE?
at 4440 braeburn road, san diego, ca., in the rich and prestigious neighborhood of the kensington heights neighborhood sits one of the biggest embarrassments in the long and continuing list of embarrassments the watchtower society has created for itself.. most dubs know nothing about it, and if it wasnt for a few brief comments about it in the proclaimers book in 1993, even fewer dubs would know anything at all about it.. it is the home once known as beth-sarim (pronounced beth-sareeeem), the house of the princes.. it is a house with a history the society has shown by its historical lack of candor, hopes everyone would forget.
in fact, the society has done just about everything it could do to ensure that its history will be forgotten.
in the first book devoted to discussing the history of jehovahs witnesses, this house and its history is not even mentioned.
Farkel,
I only read 1/2 of your post will read the rest latter, but what I read so far is very good.
I used to go to the kingdom hall in Poway, CA and talked with a JW who gave the public talk there. He used to be like a delivery boy for JFR and Knorr when they lived at Beth Sarim. He mentioned to me that they both used to drink alot.
He also said when Knorr would stay there, that he attended their congregation regularly(Clairemont Mesa I think).
He said that in those days any time Knorr gave the public talk that absolutly every one in attendance would fall a sleep because he was so dry and boring.
i can't belive it's been a whole year!!!!.
last year on oct 3rd, i was at home with my parents eating dinner.
we of course were not at the meeting .
VeniceIT,
Congradulation!
One nice thing about being DF'd is that they have done just about all they can do to you, your not under their control anymore.
I have to wait until july to celibrate.
the posts in the elders meeting thread got me thinking about this, so i've spun it off for into another thread.. were you ever 'counseled' because "some" in the congregation were disturbed by things you said/did/listened to/watched?.
here is just some of the stupid stuff that the elders brought me in on.
though they were usually handled through shepherding calls, not in the back room at the kh.. 1: because i decided to change my first and middle names.
My wife and I got called to the back room for reporting our car was stollen by an elder's son to the police. We were told we were not handling this problem theocratically. We told them too bad, he shouldn't have stollen the car.
the following are quotes from the daniel book and the proclaimers book.
did the wt really not support the un in 1919?
read the quote from the watchtower of january 1919 and decide for yourself.. *** dp 297-303 17 identifying true worshipers in the time of the end ***.
I think that quote from the 1919 WT goes along with the compromising spirit they had in 1917,or 1918 where the WT encouraged their readers to follow President Wilson's call for all churches to pray for peace.
below is the first heading from the un-dpi-ngo webpage.. i have noticed that folks here have misquoted this section several times.. please read this carefully!.
what is an ngo?.
a non-governmental organization (ngo) is any non-profit, voluntary citizens' group which is organized on a local, national or international level.
MA,
I think you are very correct:
if I see something that I think is incorrect, I will try to correct such regardless of whether the correction is pro or con the WTS. It is my sincere belief that short term gains via erroneous info later leads to longterm loses
It's good when others speak up when something is not correct, we don't want to be bogged down with a bad case of GROUP THINK.
I feel there alot more we can accomplish this way.
We don't need a bunch of YES-MEN to rubber stamp everything.
i have recently sent out about 60 postcards($.25 each) to the jw's notifying them of the wtbs being a ngo of the un.. the entire postcard was used up, with some of the information in bold print, and underlined points made to stand out.. included were the un internet site address, telephone #, for verification and breif explanation of what is required of a ngo.. granted there is not very much room for information, but it may have a pluss side to it, because jw's are instructed to not open and read apostate material, they may be more likely to read some thing they don't have to open, and more than one family member may read it?.
some of the postcards i put my return address and some just my initials(depending of past mailings responses).
i figured just putting my intials on some, may cause them out of curiousity to read it to see if they can figure out who sent it.. any observations, or pointers?

those of us who are no longer jw's were jw's at one point in time, correct?.
we all know for a fact that 95% of jw's do care - so much - that they endure mosquitoes, heat, cold, fire ants, rabid dogs, loss of personal income, spend their free time dedicated to helping others, and much much more to help assholes who hate them to help save their lives.. please - do not carry anger towards these people, because we were once like them (blind.
) it is not their fault they are wrong - because at one point in time we were all like them.
Moe,
You make some valid points.
I don't feel any ill will towards JW's, I still have family that are JW's.
My only wish is to free them from Mind Control, and I'll do what ever I can to acomplish that.
It may require some measures that some may concider borderline, but each one has to make up their own mind about tactics to use to free loved ones from dishonest men's manipulation.
