Just read the comments from the "beating children in washroom" post. Thanks bitter mango for directing me to the right post. Everytime I think about this, I just want shoot em' all. My brother and I were beat often and I can't even begin to count the number of wooden spoons I saw in the KH as a child and even prior to leaving at the age of 29. I hate em' all - especially the parents!

My heart is aching!
by Aunty inhi all - i was just reading the responses to the post on beating children in the washroom and my heart is aching remembering what it was like.
i literally have this hollow feeling in my heart right now remembering all the little children that were punished, and those who are still in, but have no way of knowing how different life can be.
you trust your parents to love and take care of you - and then they hit you - but you don't think, "hey they shouldn't do that" - you think, "i'm bad".

I remember as a kid, my mother telling me that if I ever allowed a man to touch me in a sexual way, that Jehovah would view me as wicked and that it was my responsibility to keep it from happening even if it meant that I allow the man to "shoot me with a gun." In my adult years I always thought that I must have heard my mother wrong or that she was not speaking in harmony with the WTS. But just a few weeks ago, I explored this topic and found that in fact the WTS did publish many articles about women being responsibile for being raped, and realized that my mother was instilling in me what she read in the magazines. Their mentality is unforgivable and if it must be "milked" over and over again - well, even then the scars never go away for those who were having "it" stuck to them!
I realize now, that when the Dateline story runs, I am going to submit an article to local newspapers with reference to my story. Reading the article in Bill's post has given me the idea. I just hope I have the nerve to do it. I've had a lot of articles published and know that whatever I write will run. Perhaps I should start working on the piece now.
Anyway, I applaud Bill's efforts. You go man!

One Remaining Concern
by writerpen inafter being out for seven months now, i have overcome so much fear that was indoctrinated into me while being raised a witness - the fear of attending another church, armageddon, not being a witness, celebrating holidays, etc.
with help from this board and other outside sources, all these fears have subsided.
however, there is one that remains and is often stirred by a topic that is included in many of the posts on this board.

After being out for seven months now, I have overcome so much fear that was indoctrinated into me while being raised a Witness - the fear of attending another church, Armageddon, not being a witness, celebrating holidays, etc. With help from this board and other outside sources, all these fears have subsided.
However, there is one that remains and is often stirred by a topic that is included in many of the posts on this board. That is the Witness idea of the governments turning on religion. Sam Beli just posted a topic concerning a question that was asked of President Bush in relation to whether he thinks the Catholic Church will get things straight. It makes me nervous when I even see political figures commenting on religion. When I look at the world, I see an irritation stirring in the governments for religion. Look at the mess that religion caused on Sept. 11. I need help in overcoming this final fear that remains in me. I enjoy so much going to my new Episcopal Church, celebrating the holidays, the hope now of getting married someday, etc. But when I see the governments concerned about religion, the fear returns. HELP PLEASE!

JW's Offer Me A Plea Bargain.
by Englishman ini havent mentioned this before because, when it happened i was quite rattled.. there was a knock at the door a little while back, and who should be stood there but john dayment, the fella who used to be my dads assistant when he was po of weston super mare, back in the 60s.. he had with him another chappy, i think that his name was rod something, and they both launched into how good it would be to see me make my way back.
apparently they were both elders, and this was my once a year visit.
i was disinclined to be rude because my mum is still in contact with john hey, for all i know he might be my step-father one day!

Never heard of the one month deal. Does anyone know if this is a new policy or something?

Did anyone watch Larry King show last night?
by JBean injust wanted to know if anyone saw the segment where he was interviewing david smith (ex-husband of babykiller, susan smith, here in the us).
it was a great interview, despite the fact that over 5 years after this horrible murder, the dad (david) could barely speak about his 2 small sons.
at one point, larry asked david if he believed in god.

I think it's so interesting how the BORG says that people should not or do not have a desire to go to heaven since God created us to live on earth. I must admit, having been out for 7 months now, I like the idea of going to heaven. While I still doubt it at times, I would prefer heaven versus eternity here on earth - especially under JW mentality. I used to fear the new system because of the idea of being under JW control forever.

IS EVERYONE REALLY WELCOME TO THE MEMORIAL?
by JUSTAMOM inhello to everyone this memorial season...... yes another memorial season is upon us and a lot of talk and questions as to: how many will eat and drink?

When I posted the "memorial attendance" thread yesterday, I wasn't sure if I would get my question answered. I did though and am grateful. I have no intention of attending the memorial, but was curious if the emblems were passed to DF persons and if a DF had ever partaken of the emblems. Personally, I've found a church that serves communion every Sunday. I still haven't gotten up the nerve to partake, but it's not too far off. Thanks to all for answering my question.
