my son-in-law has his first public talk today, and i was invited to attend the event.
it seemed to be very important to him and to my daughter that i be there, so i agreed.
you guys are just tooooo funny...I have had so many good laughs since a friend sent me to this site...and I have sooo walked in all your shoes at one time or another...

do you ever remember the bashing of the Lord's Prayer because it was simply repetitive and one should pray from the heart...while I was not a practicing dub any longer I was still "in my family" so to speak and at dinners when prayers were said...I noticed a certain repetitiveness...all the men have pretty much the same things to say...so much so that I could practically recite what they were going to say along with them...anyone ever notice that?

after reading a few threads regarding the upcoming christmas season, i thought i'd post a funny story, and ask you to add to it.. if you've ever received a wacky present, or one you had to pretend that you liked, please post it.. about 5 years ago, when i first started celebrating christmas with hubby, i got a real shocker of a present.
a deep fryer.. now, hubby was *very* proud of himself.
you see, about three months prior to christmas we were going through costco (warehouse type store) when i noticed they had a nice little deep fryer.
Good question...but everyone in North America knows exactly what a "shit eatin' grin" looks like...~W~

Having studied Enochian magick I know with certainty it has not one single thing to do with Satan worship...Satanic ritual abuse...or anything else to do with Satan...I have yet to see the name Satan appear anywhere in my studies...
Enochian magick is a tool and like any tool...e.g. knife, hammer, baseball bat...can be used for good or evil depending on the practitioner's intent...

on this wonderful weekend, i just wonder how many jehovah's witnesses had a "family dinner" instead of thanksgiving.
i know when i belonged to dubdom, many familys would get together for a "family dinner", but don't dare call it thanksgiving.
never mind the food was the same, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, grape juice or wine, and pumpkin pie.
I have to join the ranks of all the other 3rd generation j-dubs who gathered at gramma's on Thanksgiving for a "family dinner" w/ cranberry sauce because "turkey was cheaper then"...

what do you regret not doing before you left the "truth" for good.. some of us who have families still in have our hands tied as to what we could have done.. is there anything you would have done differently looking back.. also those who are dissasociated do you now wish you werent so you could have more accsess to friends and family?
hahahah..Karen...you go girl...I always wanted to do that too...and actually have a faint memory of my father (the PO) and mother being aghast because my little brother had sneaked some nibbles of the "unleavened bread" after memorial because he was hungry waiting for my parents to finish the eternal rounds of visiting after the meeting...too funny that this thread dredged up that old memory...what a hub-bub that caused...
But my real question was: What this about Disassociation?...I was officially disassociated nigh onto 25 years ago and except for a brief period of time when the Raymond Franz purge was going on it has been no big deal as far as being able to "socialize" with family memebers...during the purge my family shunned me as they felt appropriate...and then..what?...maybe 12 or 13 years ago they changed the position on disassociated members again...I remember this because I had a niece at the time who was pregnant out of wedlock and I was pleased that she would not have to go through the shunning procedure if the elders chose to discipline her...which they didn't...but I can remember my mother phoning me so happy that she no longer had to shun me...to which I replied, "Doesn't it bother you that they change the rules back and forth on a whim?" and got the standard "new understanding" answer...to date they have no problem associating with me during infrequent visits...my sister talks with me online pretty much daily...*gasp*...don't tell me they're going against the dictates of the Society???...
