as metatron posted 2 months ago the watchtower doesn't mention anything about blood in the new book "worship the only true god".. this is a very important book because it is recommended as a "deeper" study aid for those contemplating baptism.
it replaces the united in true worship book that was published 19 years ago.. the united in true worship book had 24 chapters.
the new replacement book has only 21 chapters.

I mean, that's simply amazing. Carbon copy and older book, but remove the 'troublesome' sections. Don't worry, that's not a train, it's just 'new light'.

I disagree strongly, and I think if you read some of the quotes I've already provided by many of them you'd come to the same conclusion. Yes, SOME of them were religious.
Others, like, for example, Jefferson, were QUITE OPPOSED to organized religion.

I can't see how you can misunderstand this so. If the pledge of allegiance is required to be recited to become a US citizen (for immigrants, it is) and that pledge requires the speaker to acknowledge a single, all-powerful deity under whom the country rests, is this not 'establishing a religion'?
Maybe not an entire church with doctrines, rules, and meeting times. But, read the above passage. THAT IS NOT REQUIRED. 'Establishment of religion', That's it. Congress shall make no law creating the requirement of religious beliefs. PERIOD.

I guess I take exception to this. I do not believe there is such a difference. I will grant you, I think Jefferson might have. Hence, he wrote his own 'gospel' that removed any of the miracles, etc. from the 'bible canon' gospels. In essence, removed the christianity from christ, and I think he was okay with the resulting figure.
I guess I don't understand your point, then? The founding fathers were not christians, and indeed, opposed the religion of christianity. They did not include any references to god or religion in the constitution.
So, why not leave any references to god or religion out of the pledge of allegiance?

Sorry I was not clear, but that was not the definition of 'church' I was using - I was not referring to a single, organized, institution, and neither were the founding fathers when they wanted a chasm between religion and the government.
Allow me to rephrase. "The founding fathers of this country wanted seperation of religion and state."
Surely you must agree that the alteration to the pledge of allegiance to make the pledgee acknowledge a single deity guiding the country is a tad religious, no?

Not all 'christian' governments are Nazi Germany.
Not all 'atheist' governments are the Soviet Union.
The founding fathers of this country wanted a seperation of church and state, and that is how they wrote the constitution. When the pledge of allegiance was adopted, it mirrored that hope - indeed, the very foundation of our country: FREEDOM.
Some dimwit changed the pledge 50 years ago. Ooops. Well, hey, someone else just fixed it.
Unfortunately, in order to cater to the duped, uneducated masses, those in power are trying to force that line to stay put. Do you see the problem here?

The phrase wasn't there to begin with.
The phrase was put in for a wrong reason (to appease a bunch of whiney christian fundies who feared the government was too secularized - well, DUH, that's the POINT)
People are making a big deal about a US court trying to fix the problem.
What is horrifying (and don't minimize this - this IS horrifying) is that America has grown so ignorant and intoxicated on religious rubbish that the country collectively gets worked up over restoring the pledge of allegiance to its original form but doesn't bat an eye at the thought of Congress passing a law to overrule the courts (in essence, ignoring the entire system of checks and balances that this country relies on to prevent dictatorian control from falling in the hands of a few).
