  UN attack on Religion, JW Harlot Prophecy

  can someone give their thoughts on the un attacking religion and the jw teaching, revelation harlot.

  i have a newspaper article with the headline "un quietly wages war on religion" i talked with some reps from the un in my country and they were talking about religion and how it had to go etc.

  it is a un mandate apparently, just has to be implemented.

  LOLOL, and who are 'they'?

  What massive military organization is the UN hiding that will be able to feret out all the poor, deluded christians in this bible-thumping US of A?

  This "UN having the will and means to destroy religion" is an urban myth, one I've heard for many years.

  And that, of course, is easy to explain where it comes from. Local governments gain and keep their power through nationalism and a fear of 'them'. The UN works against divisiveness, and is thus a danger to those who have achieved power through fear. Since those in power have already brainwashed the masses into believing in a single all-powerful being that they alone can speak in behalf of, it's not a large stretch to then get said masses to believe the UN is opposing said deity.

  It has been said that the love of money is the root of all injurious things. While a part, that is not the actual ROOT of the problem. Acknowledging that it's the love of POWER that is the root of all injurious things is not something any religion will do, though...else their laity start wondering if their leaders are so pure after all....

  Well, I'm in a rather acerbic mood again, but I'll try to be gentle in presenting an opposing view.

  You use the words "I have faith" over and over, and at the end, of course, some kind of faith in divinity is presumed.

  In usage, you're reduced those words to have no meaning at all. At least, given the limited context, in each case "I have faith" is used as a panacea, with no reason to support the belief.

  The American Heritage dictionary, in it's second definition of 'faith' says thus:

  Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.

  And that is exactly how you present it here. Belief in a certain result of cause of actions based on no evidence to said claim.

  Is this not something to be avoided? Believing in things or results that may not be true just because they feel good?

  Does the Watchtower prefer recruiting men?

  I'd hazard that the WT is specifically interested in NOT recruiting men for the exact reasons you give. The men are given all the leadership positions, and leaders can get full of themselves and start questioning the society.

  If you are running a mind control cult, what is more important to have? Lots of people trying to lead using what little logic they posses? Or, one or two people leading? Keep in mind that both genders are expected to go door to door. What's better to have? Door jockeys that are encouraged, no, expected, to take a leadership position? Or, door jockeys that are discouraged from thinking for themselves at all, and whose only recognition is from how many more contributors members they bring in?

  A Plan to Stop Gun Violence

  ok folks here is my plan to reduce the amount of gun violence in the u.s. im sorry but i cannot help out the european countries becuase a) i dont live in europe and b) only naughty people have guns in europe.. ok. i have come to the conclusion that drugs in the u.s. need to be not only de-criminalized but legalized so that they can be taxed.

  by legalizing drugs the profit gained by selling them will plummet and it will not be cost effective for gang members and cartels to import/deal drugs in the u.s. and the violence surrounding drugs will vanish as there will be no motive (ie $$$$$) to commit such violence.. ok. now the problems.

  1) no one likes to admit they are wrong (especially the govt.).

  Yes, but a cycle the government WANTS. Remember, above all else, to keep power, the population must stay afraid. Afraid of nebulous evil forces afar, but afraid of 'gangs' and 'drug wars' at home, too.

  Of course, cynicism aside, the 'drug war' also creates a ridiculous number of jobs. 2 bill this year? How many people will that employ quite comfortably? And they can keep raising taxes to fund it, too, as long as most people feel afraid of the problem.

  Would you like General Mills to put a highly addicting substance that isn't FDA approved, thus making it illegal to consume, into their breakfast cereal?

  How on earth did we get from legalizing drugs to product tampering?

  Do the dairy farmers of America sneak alcohol into their milk? No? Why? Because it's stupid!

  You know how you walk into a pharmacy to buy Bayer or a pack of Marlboro now? Like that, but with heroine and weed.

  Will there be more addicts? Oh, I'm sure there will be a few. And??? How does that effect you? If someone wants to spend part of their paycheck on legal drugs instead of a new stereo system, who cares? They're happy, the person who sold it to them is happy, the farmer who could grow it domestically now is happy, etc.

  Course, while I'm on the subject, lets get off this Middle East oil. What we get from our own wells, Canada, and South America is enough for almost all our needs if we get vehicles off of it. How to do that? Well, grain alcohol is a fantastic renewable resource. (Renewable, get that? That means we won't run out!) Imagine that, farmers actually able to grow profitable crops instead of eaking by with government subsidies ('profitable crops' - get the connection? There you go, legalize and tax drugs, move over to alcohol powered cars, improve the economy!).

  it seems that a lot of folks really spend some amazing cash on food.

  our family of five spends $50-$60/week.

  I was gonna say....I mean, DAMN for a family of 5? Yikes!

  I don't know where you guys shop but I spend more on two people than you guys do on a whole family. I average $100-125 a week

  That's much more in line with our costs.

  Course, the wife and I only shop at organic food stores, and her diet is strictly vegetarian, so that drives the cost up a lot. No 'cheap' processed foods, and she won't buy things with any of the 20 or so oils or ingredients suspected of causing cancers or whatnot.

  Also, that overhead usually includes 2-3 bottles of wine a week, as well. (I should note neither of us are even slightly overweight, and we only really eat one 'meal' a day, it's just the type of food that makes the cost so high)

  Hmmm...I've always been in favor of an across-the-board flat income tax, but, now that you mention it.

  Yeah, a flat sales tax might actually be a better idea. You pay the tax as you use your money. Makes sense.

  And make sure that tax is on EVERYTHING you can buy. Buy a house? 10%, thanks. Car? 10%. Stocks? 10%, etc.

  LOL - too bad it'll never happen....

  Please, please, please tell me you are joking and don't actually think that.

  Would you mind citing one - ONE - example of the US trying to get the N. Koreans to stop building nukes, and it working? Or stop with the executions, and it working? Or, hell, do ANYTHING AT ALL and have ANY effect!?!

  And Saudi Arabia is even BETTER! We thank them for funding the 9/11 terrorists by obfuscating any connection between the Saudis and the terrorists. Our leaders use diplomacy to change the subject any time it's brought up, and quickly blame Saddam.

  How is this improving anything? Have we argued before the UN to level sanctions against Saudi Arabia? Has the US even sent them a diplomatic 'slap on the wrist' - IE "Bad Saudis, stop funding terrorist attacks against the US or we'll frown really hard"?!? They haven't even done THAT much!!!

And then, probably throw a "God bless the USA" or "Go forth christian soldiers! Slaughter those Muslim dogs!" in there somewhere?
