the book is getting bigger and bigger, 438 pages, i think.

Out of curiosity, at some point he obviously decided to make a second book (ISoCF), but why does he now keep adding new material to CoC? Shouldn't it be put into a third book or something? I mean, the UN thing couldn't possibly have been happening when he was having his 'Crisis of Conscience' the book title alludes to?
Not really complaining - I like having it all in one neat book, just curious why there are two books with so many editions of the first?
ok first off this is the first time i have ever made up a topic.
secondly, i was reading another thread about teen development and the borgs control over adolescents, and that got me to thinking.
i dont know what anyone elses experiences were like in their congregations but 85% of the kids in my hall were home schooled their entire lives, or were taking correspondence courses instead of attending high school.
In general? HELL NO!!!

I think I agree. You seem to have responsibility for the situation.
I am a product of the public school systems and am VERY intelligent. The public schools to tend to encourage that. The problem IS NOT PUBLIC SCHOOLS. The problem is parents who don't encourage education OUTSIDE of school.
Education (not just sex ed or religious) is equally the parents and the states responsibility. Homeschooling pushes more of that on the parents, which is okay if the parents are balanced - as you seem to be.
The problem is that the same lazy parents who don't support their kids enough in public schools for them to excel will do that much worse when they pull their kids out.
My sister-in-law is like that. My neice is 5 and can't even spell her name. Forget the alphabet. Can't read, etc. She won't be sent to school because of 'bad association'. Gods above, it PISSES ME OFF to see a mind go to waste like that.
With a few rare exceptions every single human being is born with the potential to be as just as smart as any other. Good parents make ALL the difference here.
(I'm going to make another plug for my 'mandatory sterilization at birth that can only be undone by passing qualified-parenting tests' plan again)

so its a no brainer that nirvana's work should probably have a place in every rock collection, but what are some other albums every rock fan should listen to if not own.

i remember some years ago, when i was looking on the net i typed in watchtower.com and came across their website.
apparently when the society decided to go online they must have paid big buck to watch tower to have the domain name.

Interesting you mentioned the Collective Soul 'Run' - also on Roswell. One of my favs.
You liked 'Something I Can Never Have' try picking up the CD. NiN handles internalized pain VERY well. They have quickly become a fav of mine (thanks to bea for making up my mind on it!).

'Fade Into You' - is that from an earlier artist? The only version I know is by Mazzy Star, and is AWESOME. I love the slow pace.
(EDIT: just noticed that is who it was attributed to above, just read the lyrics and it sounded familiar. LOVE THAT SONG. I've been making an MP3 collection of the music featured on 'Roswell'. The producers of that show have some AWESOME taste when it came to music - that's where I heard a lot of Prodigy, Mazzy Star, etc.)
Gawd, my MP3 collection is huge now. Trying to back it up on 700MB CDs. TWENTY-FIVE CDs worth of MP3s.

Where was that cut from? Smacks of 'urban legend'
1) He turned his phone back on and it immediately rang? Lucky wife - regular lines were tied down in New York (hell, the whole eastern seaboard) all day - cell lines were particularly hard hit. Many customers complained about 3 to 4 hour delays before calls could be completed.
2) He turned the phone back on while still as his girlfriend's house? Why did he turn it off, then? And, if he didn't, surely after he left he would have run into someone, turned on the radio, or SOMETHING such that he would get the news!
3) So he lied about where he was. LOTS of reasons that could happen. Would the wife really divorce him when he lied about being at the office if it spared his life?

It's funny the reaction seeing literature could have. Especially considering there are still the same books sitting on OUR shelves. I guess the point is that they just redecorated and put the books out, open reference bible, etc all on TV. These JWs were still 'in'.
Kinda funny, people you see on these shows on TV you never really attribute any personality to or background to. Suddenly, it was like *smack* you know what these people are like and how they'd behave towards you, etc. Strange feeling.
(Weird, too. They appeared to decorate smartly, the budget for this show is not low, IIRC - IE, materialistic - and the designer they had over many times doesn't seem 'straight'. Must be a different kind of witness than the kind I grew up with.)

Why would they? If you're running IE, look at the bottom of your browser. You see a padlock icon? No? That means all the data being sent back and forth is in plain, unencrypted text. (Well, that's obviously not COMPLETELY true, but it's unencrypted nonetheless). Email is unencrypted, HTML is (usually) unencrypted, etc. Why would they encrypt messenger?
