What's a parent to do?
by Tammie ini don't know if i am the only one with this problem or not.
but i have two boys ages 4 and 6. i get them up at a normal hour (the older one is in school, now).
i even put them to bed around 8 or 9 pm, depending on what is going on for the day.

Thank God I am not the only one with this problem! lol I was wondering if my daughter (6 year old) was a freak! She is like her dad, night owls both of them! We let her watch a movie (pooh or something sedate like that) in bed to put her to sleep (yes we are BAD parents)...when the movie is over if she isn't asleep..to bad..she just has to lay there till she goes to sleep.
Oh do you get the "I'm hungry" howl as soon as you put yours to bed??? Drives me nuts!!!!!!! Every night the same thing...but I'm ssssoooo hungry...well next time eat your dinner....but i'm hungry now...aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh
kids..gotta love them...

This is who really I am
by MrMoe ini have had several people on this board request that i show the softer side of who i am as a person -- as well as share my feelings in regards to the divorce my husband and i are about to go through.
i have used the forum (past tense) as an outlet for stress.
i think i met my husband for a reason.

MrMoe you have not only shown your softer side...but what a wonderful generous special person you are! I am glad to know you and hope to get to know you better in the future!

Motivation
by ItsJustMe ini'm obviously new here, so i'm going to ask a question i'm sure has been discussed before but has me quite curious.
what motivates you to spend so much time discussing jehovah's witnesses?

That's a really good point HadEnuf...most of us don't have family anymore to discuss our new beliefs with (they are to busy shunning us)...for a lot of us (I know it is true for me) this is now the "family" that we can open up to and share our new found feelings with.

Does it really matter?
by ItsJustMe inif you belong to a religion because your family & friends are there, you try to be a good person, you enjoy the activities you are involved in, but deep down you really believe that there is not only one true religion, does it really matter if you remain in the religion of your family and friends?
realistically speaking, what's the harm?

If you have any questions or just want to talk about it ItsJustMe feel free to email me. My dauther is 6 now. Didn't really hit me how her life would be effected by being a JW until she went to school. You see all the things they miss out on and how difficult it is being different from everyone else. And trying to explain to them why when you really don't believe it yourself. May have effected me more since I wasn't raised a JW...

Mispronunciations at the meetings
by TR inmoxy raised a point in the "exaggeration" thread that aggravated me at the meetings.
mispronunciations.
moxy mentioned the word 'hyperbole' as frequently being mispronounced.. another one that bugged me was 'epitome'.

I completly understand where you are coming from ItsJustMe. I felt the same way...it was a comfortable existance...until my daughter was born. I just couldn't bring her up a JW...they miss out on to much! I wanted more for her and so I left and now I am glad I did not just for her but for myself. Freedom may have a price but I do believe it is worth it!

Personally I enjoy the interaction with people who have some of the same backround and experiences that I do...simple as that
