Card-making/ Scrapbooking

does anyone else do scrapbooking or card-making??

i took a class last night and enjoyed myself thoroughly.

i'm taking my daughters back to the shop this morning so they can make some of their own cards for their teachers and friends.

OMG- this stuff will suck you in and never let you go!!! I was just in Michaels the other day and went into the scrapbooking area and all of the new stuff they have for this is sooooo coool. Suddenly found myself wandering aimlessly in a daze. It's demons!!! I had to run out of the store to save myself from yet another obsession!

But really, this is such a fun thing to do and the ideas are endless!!! One of my best friend couples got married a few years ago and for their wedding gift I went around and took pictures of groups at their reception and made a really nice scrapbook for them. This was the stuff they didn't have the time to see. I took pictures of the various groups at tables enjoying themselves. As it turned out, the husband's mother died about 4 months after the wedding and the picture I had taken for the scrapbook is one of the best ones the family had of her. I had a good time making it and they enjoyed it alot.

It will suck you in though- be careful!!! LOL

Our Mother is in a coma :(

we posted a few weeks ago that our mother had been diagnosed with pancreas cancer and was given 6-18 months with chemo.

Yeah, actually it is. It's something that you can always improve on. You can compete with others in your group but essentially it's a game you are playing with yourself. It can be very frustrating and very rewarding all in the same round.

And if the guys you are playing with don't hit their drive past the ladies tees- it's D- OUTS!!!!

Suicidal fear of rejection.

the fear of rejection has once again controlled my life and my actions in an unintentional act of self destruction brought on by how i was raised to view life.

i have come to the conclusion that i will probably be battling this psychological whirlpool of self sabotage for the rest of my life and i do not think i have the ability to completely eliminate it.

talking about it here is a start.

One of the things that might really help is for you to see a good therapist. One who has experience with folks who have been in cults or have been in highly controlled environments. With the help of a professional, you can get to the bottom of all of this and start rebuilding YOU.

One of the saddest things I've seen reading about all of the JW stuff is the teachings about mental health and seeking professional help. Although I understand they are much better about it now than in the past, those of other generations still seem to carry what was taught- it's not needed- pray to Jehovah, go out in service etc. Some have said they were told it was downright evil. That kind of teaching only causes an aversion to professional help for emotional problems to be as deep seated as the problems themselves.

When I read your story, it could have been written by the JW guy I was involved with. And he's about your age and went through the same things. And he pushed me away in the same way several times. He's been back lately but with the same sort of stuff going on and I just can't walk that mile again no matter how much I care.

Invest in yourself. Take some time and go talk to someone- a professional. If you find one and you aren't comfortable, find a different one. Search until you find one who you are comfortable with to take you on that journey to heal all of this.

My Wiccan Experience

this is a true story.

i do not bullshit about stuff like this.. everybody knows i'm agnostic, and most of you know that i lump wicca right in there with all the other religious beliefs as being just one more crock of lies, and have pissed off sunchild and sirona and a few others with my observations about wicca.

well, as i continue on my path of mellowship, i've mellowed toward wicca as well.

Boxes, now, that I might do. With brass or bronze hinges and corners, and little keyed latches... I can get into that!

Comf- If you decide to do this, let me know. I have been collecting boxes since I was a kid and I'm always looking for interesting ones. The more intricate or interesting the better. Boxes sell very well, especially if they are one of a kind. There are some great artisans out of Poland who make some really nice ones- some elegant and some whimsical. Looking for a site to direct you to- as soon as I find it I'll let you know.
