11,800 died in the Indonesian eathquake. Let's not forget that just because a ball player died on the same news day. And I mean no disrespect to Mr. White, but his reasons for notoriety are insignificant compared to the equivalent of 4.5 September 11's.

I guess I was taken aback by your "instruction" to us as to what we should remember- as if we were misguided children who weren't able to put the proper perspective on things ourselves. That's the way it read to me and that is the way it continues to read each time you post in this thread. I'm sure that all of the people who responded here would have totally ignored the disaster if it weren't for your sage advice.

Xena: It's awfully naive to think Reggie White is getting any attention for anything other than his football career.

but his football career is the only reason his death is a news item, and his personal life is but an anecdote to anyone who didn't know him.

First of all, Reggie White wasn't just "a" football player. He was one of the greats. He is said to be one of the greatest defensive players to have ever been on the field. For that he is famous. He was loved and admired for who he was and what he contributed to this world off the field.

Why you felt the need to enter this thread and throw around your "wisdom" and instruction is beyond me but I for one was doing quite well in life without it-go figure.

Worse neighbor experiences

some family moved in across the street a few months ago.

i have never talked to them.

all i know about them is what the other neighbors had to say.

I have to say that this next door neighbor is the only bad one in the whole bunch. The rest are awesome. My other next door neighbor was on my roof helping his son do the roof replacement and he and his neighbor across from him snowblow my driveway for me all the time. Last year, between the two of them we didn't have to take our snowblower out at all.

So if the other jerk next door would just go away we'd have a wonderful neighborhood !

i thought i'd pose a question especially (but not exclusively) for the girls regarding sexual harassment.

what would you deem as unfitting behaviour?.

is it appropriate for a guy to ask if you are wearing any panties?

It's ludicrious in my mind that just because a man is in a kilt that somehow he's open to "whatever". WTH is that? And to go to the extent of touching someone else without some sort of invitation to do so is a total boundary violation. Wearing a kilt isn't an invitation. Or jeans or shorts or a Santa Claus suit! IMO, a person who does that doesn't understand the concept of boundaries very well. And if they are asked to stop and they don't it would be quite obvious that they don't care about other people's boundaries. And then what to do about that? That's a hard one. Walking away is a good idea but as earlier stated-easier said than done at times. I don't know how to teach people who I'm not that close to about boundaries and having them and respecting those of others.

((Ross)) I'm sorry that this happened to you and put you in a very uncomfortable position. I'm also surprised to hear that something similar happened in Dallas. I was totally unaware of that- but then again I spent most of my time wandering around trying to absorb it all while being in a throwback to the 70's .

Until you have your shit together, you should not get drunk, whether you're 15 or 50.

I have a next door neighbor who is a real jerk. One winter I hadn't put my deck furniture away because I had casts on both of my ankles and was unable to. I was in a wheelchair all winter and come spring I still wasn't getting around too well. A storm came through and toppled my deck table over and the glass broke all over my deck. Because I was unable to get to it, it stayed in that position for a few weeks. During that few weeks, every time my neighbor saw my daughter he jumped on her case about when we were going to clean up our deck. Well, one Saturday I was feeling up to it and went outside to deal with the deck. To my surprise the table had been placed upright and all of the glass cleaned up. I knew right away who did it. Nice thing right? Nope. My neighbor told my daughter that his wife had done it because HE was sick of looking at it.

The next time I saw him I asked him about it and he had some snide comment for me about not wanted to look at it any more and dealing with it himself. I told him that he was to stay off my property and if he didn't, instead of recycling all of our empty beer cans I might decide to make a fence out of them in my back yard !!

This is the same guy who gives my daughter the creeps when she's mowing the lawn. She dreads going out there because he sits on his deck and leers at her the entire time. Creepy!
