Bush failure or stable Iraq?
by Spartacus inwould you rather see bush fail or a stable society for the iraqi people?
do anyone hate bush or america so much that you would rather see military failure which will mean more death and carnage for the iraqi people and the us/allied military?
or would you like to see a bush/allied military success, giving the iraqi people a chance to govern themselves toward a stable democratic society?

Respect - what is it?
by Norm inaretha franklin sings about respect and the word is frequently used in all languages.. the definition of the word can be : respect, esteem, regard -- (an attitude of admiration or esteem, held in esteem).
many people seem to think that respect automatically follows a position or office, like for instance a president, a bishop, a prime minister or similar lofty titles.
others hold that respect has to be earned and shouldn't be automatic and points to the often obvious fact that some people holding high offices often show themselves to be utter bastards and corrupt crooks that deserves no respect.

As usual it seems like God is only interested in helping and comforting people AFTER such a disaster, before it happened he appears to have been sleeping or had his attention elsewhere, perhaps monitoring peoples various use of their genitals, which judging from many religious leaders constant rants, seem to be his major interest
I was raised a Lutheran. And I never "got" the disconnection between disaster or horror manifested in human kind and God. It was always explained away as "contrast" or "punishment" or unexplainable which was the worst.
I could never understand why I was expected to believe in someone who would create such havoc and pain and then not explain why and still expect me to believe after that.
I will however, continue to believe in others' rights to believe in things they have found solace in along the way. If it works for them, let them have it. This road it tough enough.

Inkie,
I'm sorry to hear that you were fired. With over 23 years in the employment field, I have to strongly disagree with the advice given to never say that you were fired and perhaps make up some other explanation for it. If you do that and someone checks your references (which most employers do) you will never be hired because you started out with something less than honesty. And you don't know that word won't get around that you were fired but are trying to make it look like you left of your own accord. People aren't supposed to talk but they do and the smaller the town, the more likely this is to happen.
Were you not given a reason for your termination? No exit interview etc? If that is the case, call the firm's administrator or office manager and let them know that you need to know what the reason was. If you can't get an answer then you'll have to move on without one.
The other thing I would suggest that you do is contact the other attorneys you worked for and ask them for letters of recommendation. Then, when in an interview and the question comes up you can say that you were not given a reason but that 3 of the 4 attorneys you worked for have written LORs for you. That will give the interviewer the clear idea that it was something going on with one of the attorneys and not necessarily your work or your work relationships with people that caused your demise at the last place.
But whatever you do, don't disrespect your previous employer or the attorney who might have been the "difficult" one.
Good luck with your endeavors. It sounds like you were doing a lot right to have the majority of your supervisors give you excellent reviews. That didn't happen by accident and another employer will be lucky to have you.
