well it has been one year since i first started promoting the quotes web site, about 15 months ago when quotes and i were reunited i recall looking at the counter at the bottom of the page and he had about 17,000 visitors.

as i look today there is over 39,000 happy visitors, and what a pleasure it has been spreading the good word!

when i stopped going to meetings at 16 i had read nothing but knew things didn't add up at the watchtower!

PS Have you made any headway on the baptism questions ? AlanF posted a thread here some time ago, that spelled out how the WTBTS has changed the questions over the years to align the GB with God, Jesus and the holy spirit. It would be nice to see that on your board.

What do you think when you go by a Kingdom Hall?

i drive by a kh every day, since it's very close to my work route, and i was wondering if anyone else secretly cheers that they don't have to go back into one of those things.

when i see a few cars parked there on the weekday, i am so thankful i don't have to go out and talk that stuff to strangers.

any thoughts?

When I drive by, I check out the sign to see if has been changed.

An elder asked me years ago. What will it take for you to come back ?

I replied. " When I see the sign out front read Reformed Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses I just might pop in to say hello " !

Are there only two ways out of the WT World?

we are told we can quit (dissassociate) or get kicked out ( dissfellowshipped), but are these the only options we have?

while you cannot stop people from acting a certain way around you there may be a way to take to power away from the society and give it back to the people who love you and know it their hearts that shunning in unloving.

Another opinion here. My wife and I tried the fade, due to relatives still in the org. We were left alone for a few years, until 1 day out of the blue, I received a phone call from an elder, telling me there was a JC meeting in 3 days, to discuss our situation. I knew immediately what they were up to, and I had to scramble to put together a strongly worded letter, which I copied to my members of parliament, and I had it notorized.

This is the letter:

December 10, 1998

Mr. ELDER

Dear XXXXX:

Please find enclosed a copy of a letter sent today to my Federal Member of Parliament.

Your decision [or was it your decision?] to request such an impromptu meeting after an absence away from the congregation of nearly 4 years is very puzzling. Especially so, since the Watchtowers own policy book lays down the criteria for you as an elder to follow in these situations. Criteria you either havent reviewed or are choosing to ignore!

We are posing no threat to the congregations cleanness and welfare, nor are we causing a public scandal.

There is no evidence or witnesses to claim that we profess to be Jehovah"s Witnesses

We are not recognized within the community as Jehovah"s Witnesses.

We have no contact with or association with the congregation. [except for our attendance at my uncle XXXXX'S memorial service, which you mentioned in your phone call, and if thats your evidence of contact with the congregation that claim is preposterous! Ecclesiastes 7 : 1 ]

Based upon the preceding information, and its lack of application to us, and the fact that we do not recognize you as having any authority over us, nor do we feel any accountability to the congregation, we will not meet with you and we consider the matter closed.

This is NOT a letter of disassociation and it must not be misconstrued as such

!

Sincerely :

To the best of my knowledge, no letter was ever read , nor an announcement made at any of the congregations, but we noticied changes when we met former friends in public, and our relatives cut off all association with us. ( No loss there ).

So my point is, even if they do not officially disfellowship you or announce that you have disassociated yourself, they get the word out.

Brown says they don't turn the list over to police because some of the allegations aren't substantiated. Brown says its purpose is to enable them to keep track of persons who may be potentially harmful to the congregation.

Unfortunately, there are few in the congregation who are aware of who may be potentially harmful to the congregation.

I get a sense that Brown is starting to slip a bit. He must be getting bombarded with requests from the press, etc.

He must dread waking up in the morning.

Ironically, I think no one would notice if Saddam was running the WTBTS !

Hey Syn. Once he becomes baptized, isn't there a concern he would appoint himself supreme Presiding Overseer for life !

You should write press releases for the WTBTS.
