  i have been involved with a girl who is of the jw faith; although things have pretty much ended between us... due to her being disfellowshipped for the way we acted together (although she has recently been accepted back).. she did make me think about things... and consider her religion.

  however, i think i have come to my senses.... a few things about the religion seem wrong to me... the whole watchtower thing (false prophet), being baptised into the organisation, the subject of blood and the little evidence they seem to have to back this up, the 'new light' etc.. i would really like more information to present to this girl in order to:.

  1) show her that it really is not right for me; with good/ unquestionable reasons why;.

  WTT Be patient. Some of the more seasoned posters here will provide you with other links. They used to be at the bottom of the page, on the old format, but Simon has not put them back on yet.

  It is also unfortunate the search feature is not yet enabled. You could use that to find topics very similar to your situation. This topic has come up many times on this board.

  A question for those of you who were raised in the cult

  when i was a jw, i often found myself wishing that i would have been a jw from birth.

  that way i would've avoided many of the mistakes i'd made in my teenage years.

  now, after reading so many of your stories i've realized that many of you didn't really believe it when you were young.

  Siegswife. I was raised in the borg. However being under such tight control, ( something like trying to keep a coil spring compressed ), once my friends and I became young teenagers, we lived a secret double life.

  As a group we did a lot of things that were wrong, even illegal, some cases the police being involved.

  We did things, that I wouldn't even share with my parents, who are now out, because I am ashamed still.

  But we always managed to stay out of trouble with the cong, because we were reg. in service, gave good talks in the MS etc. Of course having an uncle who was the City Oveerseer, didn't hurt any ! LOL.

  I think that is why many when they leave, go totally opposite to their former ways, because they were never allowed to sample freedom.

  So to answer your question, I think kids raised in the borg, are pretty well doomed. People who were raised outside the cong, and convert to JWism in later years, are more balanced IMHO.

  Shepherding Visit this Weekend

  i like what simon has done with the place.

  been away for a while so it was quite the eye shock coming back in.. yes, we are finally getting our shepherding call this weekend.

  Oh Yeah, Record everything you can, audio, video, hey even plant a bug out at the front door, and one in their vehicle, if you can excuse yourself for a minute or two to do that.

  Hey, it may not be of any use to you afterwords, but I would pay to hear one of those shepherding visits, or JC meetings after the fact. I know I've heard a few of them over the years, and it's like a replay of my favorite comedy tape. It is truly amazing, no matter what part of the world it comes from, they all speel out the same shit.

  2 Watchtower rules that I obeyed when I left

  1) remember the watchtower suggested that if we were a member of any religious order before we became jws we should send them (the churches) a little note to request our names be taken of their false religious member list?

  i certainly obeyed that request when i left and sent a note to the watchtower asking my name be taken off their false religious member list.

  then they sent the elders to tell me what an insult it was for me to request this.

  BRUMMIE !

  Halt Stop and Desist ! Do not throw away or burn any of the older WT or Bible Student Literature. Make a list of what you have and then do a search on Ebay.

  I made a mistake 2 years of dumping all of my JW literature, some of it bound volumes dating back to the 50's, and since I did that, I have occasionally seen some of it advertsed on ebay for handsome amounts.

  Remember, those out there who do not want to believe what they see scanned on the internet, are willing to see the original publications with their own eyes, and willing to pay top dollar for it.

  Bike seat is killing my butt

  i just started a new exercise program, i'm riding a outdoor bike.

  i haven't ridden one in years.

  only the seat is hurting my butt.

  Wednesday.

  Where are you riding the bike ? Do you have it set up as a stationary bike, or are you riding it outside ? If you're using it inside, I would suggest you stay away from the stairs, that's rough...LOL.

  Seriously, all the shops can sell you a gel cover for the seat that and that can make a big difference.

  Got My First Diesel. But...

  i finally decided it was time to throw away my decrepit austin montego and get something for work that was a little less..well, tatty.. i need to carry ladders and tools and things.

  however having had the experience of losing (stolen, actually) the tools from a van on 2 occasions, i know the value of having a car for work that has at least got a boot large enough to be able to hold my gear, without actually advertising the fact that, hey look, easy pickings!.

  so, a car is what i needed.

  Eman. I don't know how cold it get's in your part of Britian, but here in the Great White North, once we get the diesel started, we don't shut them off until Spring. Good Luck !
