Year number six of non-belief starts for me in about 4 weeks. I still make most meetings and even make a showing in FS about once per month.
So, yes, due to circumstances, I can relate.
ok...so i'm a 19 year old fifth generation jw.
mentality, i've been out of the "truth" since i was 16(woke up after i was baptized ironically), but on the outside i'm a model jw.
my parents are really devoted, my grandparents are super devoted, and so are my ants and uncles.

the last talk at the assembly made an interesting statement, "we can show faith by following direction if we're asked to move to another kingdom hall for better use of dedicated christian funds".
this statement has everyone talking.
i spoke to multiple individuals and they heard the same thing at different assembly's.. i know they have been "evaluating" all kingdom halls the last year or two.
I've been to several KH dedication meetings. I'm not sure what a FUND dedication looks like.
jehovah's witnesses accept jesus as christ, the son of god.
they try, in their own way, to live by his teachings and imitate him.
they pray, read the bible and meet together regularly for worship.. i won't minimise any of the harm and damage they cause but for the life of me, i can't see how anyone can credibly deny that they are christians.. why do so many former jws have a problem with this?
"JWs are not true Christians" says the person celebrating Jesus' birth with pagan rites.
That was my go to when I was a believer. Now that I'm an atheist I still feel the same about the issue.
for years theologians and historians have researched who the historical person known as jesus was and how much of the biblical account could be verified.
countless books have been written going into great detail.
this has been a controversial subject with some even claiming that jesus never existed.
If I could describe the writings of the WTBTS in one word ... angrifying.
i was at my assembly when this was discussed last week.
of course i hadn't prepared and i heard "no rules about limits", or at least i thought i did.. here's the direct quote from the watchtower study article.. "although the bible does not provide specific rules about the kinds and limits of love play that might be associated with natural sexual intimacy, it mentions displays of affection.
the watchtower (study edition) august 2016 : making christian marriage a success, paragraph 8.. what say you?.

i just received the following message from a friend this morning.. barbara.
eloise dupuis, 27 years old, died at the hotel dieu hospital in lévis, quebec, canada, wednesday, october 12th.
she died because of her religious principles.
A tax exempt = state sponsored deadly cult.
i can't tell you how many times i have heard this while growing up as a witness.
every time i questioned hypocrisy in the org i was told " well we are imperfect" and its was beyond annoying.
at what point does "imperfect" turn into just not christian?
If you could ask any JW:
Are the unanimous GB decisions made on Wednesday mornings perfect?
What percentage of them are correct?
How much higher is the percentage than pure opinion and guesswork?
How could anyone ever tell the difference?
jehovah's witnesses have never come to my door but they have come to my girlfriends door.
i have coached her as to what to say or ask but it appears that they always seem to come when she's not there.
.....just curious would you get into it with a jehovah's witness at your door especially if it was someone you did not know?.
I would ask: Are you people still championing that "generation of 1914 is still alive" thing?
Whatever the answer, I would then say: "You're definitely not cult, definitely not." Smile and close the door.
if he get pass this, america deserve him...... conversation 10 years ago..
Most Trump voters are quite happy to hear about his like minded misogeny.
a few weeks ago, i think it was in the imitate their faith book or was a public talk, i forget, but anyway, luke 21:10 says: then he said to them: “nation will rise against nation,+ and kingdom against kingdom.+ 11 there will be great earthquakes, and in one place after another food shortages and pestilences;+ and there will be fearful sights and from heaven great signs.
the brother was showing the signs of the end & how it matches up to our time.
but guess what folks, my eyes wandered to the next verse 12:but before all these things happen, people will lay their hands on you and persecute you,+ handing you over to the synagogues and prisons.
Just amazed at how boring this prophecy is to me now. Could anyone prophecy about anything that is more obviously going to happen? There will be wars? NO! Really?
There will be days and nights, and people will eat food.
