Just like many other sects of Christendom and other religions. Your holy scriptures can be mumbo jumbo'd to fit what ever belief you already have. Even if it doesn't actually make any sense at all, your sheeple shall follow.

If the light is getting brighter why are they getting dumber?
by scotoma indon't they have editors?.

"Seed" preservation is one of the worst apologetics for this question. There is no need for a seed, Abel could have been born Jesus. No need to drag shit out for 4000 years.

If you read the bible w/out instruction, what would you think?

"the bible" is a name of a "book" that we all use and throw around. However, it is one of those few words where we grant too much to it. "Bible" is a word without any definite meaning.
Which translation? Why?
Which master texts is it based on? Why?
What texts were the master texts based on? And how were variants handled and why?
What texts are considered canon and what was not? Why?
Interpretation of whatever phrases are in their Bible of choice is what actually matters the most. Yet most Christians and especially JWs deny that the Bible is open for interpretation, and they also categorically deny that any of their teachings are "interpretations". "Scripture interprets scripture" "Interpretations belong to God"
oh lordy

Proverbs 4:18 "light gets brighter"
by stuckinarut2 inwe are all familiar with the classic use by the society of proverbs 4:18 about "light getting brighter".
they say it applies to revealed truth, and doctrinal changes etc.. have you ever just read that chapter (and even the surrounding chapters) in full??.
it has nothing to do with doctrinal changes or teachings.. it has to do with acquiring wisdom and life skills in order to live a successful life.

if the bible says what it says and doesn't say what it doesn't say then =
THIS SCRIPTURE IS TALKING ABOUT THE "PATH OF THE RIGHTEOUS ONE",
it doesn't say:
"In the last days of this world Jehovah will have a mouthpiece that gets a lot of things wrong."

Sex & Divorce
by IMHO in1. you can't have sex until your married.. 2. you're not married until you've gone through a legal ceremony.. 3. you get 'unscriptually' (although legally) divorced therefore not 'free' to remarry'.
4. can you still 'scriptually' have sex with your former spouse?.

I've always wanted to ask this same question because many people are in this situation. And all are told by elders to remain celibate, yet there is no discussion of this in Watchtower print anywhere.
If you are married in the eyes of Jehovah then you can f*ck in the eyes of Jehovah. This is logical, but of course JW dogma and logic have never been friends.

Election Post-Mortem
by Simon ini'm sure many people, republicans included, are shocked at the results of the 2016 presidential election.
really, wtf!.
the polls were wrong and although it's tempting to blame voter suppression and fbi interference, that would just avoid looking at the real issues for the loss.

Biggest problem is the DNC. They are the least honest in my opinion. Trump overcame the RNC establishment, while Sanders couldn't. My opinion as to why: The RNC is sincerely deluded, the DNC knows they are full of shit hypocrites.

Since the GB makes mistakes, the question isn't what are they wrong about, it's: What are they right about?

Paying medical bills for middle-aged and older special full time servants is a huge monthly bill worldwide. It is something that has hit them huge and they don't talk about it.

For the first time in 108 years, the Chicago Cubs won the MLB 2016 World Series, which is not news to too many of us. But the volunteers at Warwick Bethel have an interesting opportunity today. They can congratulate Tony Morris on seeing another Chicago Cub win. He is of the generation of 1914, along with most, if not the rest, of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses.
While Tony didn't get to see the last WS victory for the Cubbies with his own eyes (1908), he "kinda?" did. Since he is of the second overlapping "group" of the generation of the Jehovah's Witness anointed of 1914, (did I digress? oh no that's what they teach) that means HIS GENERATION was around to see there previous WS win!
So let's all congratulate the Governing Body, perhaps they thought their generation would never see another Cubs win, since it's been 108 years since last happened, but IT DID!!! Congrats to them! High fives all around!
