The next immigrant caravan will probably need Spanish sub-titles, but it may still be a very effective source of motivation for them.

There is the natural capitalistic need for cheaper labor, and the wall can't address this fundamental reality. Vast amounts of dirt cheap laborers are willing to move, wanting a better life, or at least a semi-decent one.
If the wall does have any impact, it will then only greater incentivize the need/pay-off to beat it.
It becomes just another obstacle on the list of many potentially lethal obstacles already in place for the desperate to overcome.
In the long term, what can WE do to get our national check register back in black, resolve global warming, and help western third world countries become first world? Otherwise, way too soon, none of this might even matter.

Should calling someone 'Nazi' be made illegal?
by LoveUniHateExams ina rabble-rouser called james goddard and a crowd of pro-brexit people called anna soubry 'nazi' recently.. the same crowd also called owen jones a few names.. i don't know these people but they seem to be unsavory people - they were certainly not behaving themselves.. the met police are looking into the matter, to see if the crowd did anything illegal.
a journalist asked the police officer if calling someone 'nazi' is illegal.
the officer said 'that's what we're looking into'.. first, this crowd behaved badly, no question.. what i find fascinating, though, is the speed of response from authorities.. calling people fascist or nazi has been going on for decades.

Labels of are of no use to me. Liberal. Conservative. Right. Left. Far Right. Far Left. Center right. Centrist. Socialist. Fascist. Nazi.
Ideas. Concepts. Conversations that lead gaining of knowledge. Finding truth, facts that comport to reality. These are the things that interest me.
Freedom of speech, the interchange of thought, must be upheld.

Warning: autistic screeching ahead ...
by LoveUniHateExams ina regular guy went into a vape store in georgia recently, to buy his wife some liquid for her e-cigarettes.
his big mistake was to wear a trump t-shirt.
the shop assistant went completely mental because of the t-shirt.. the customer remained calm throughout and eventually got the product he wanted (i think).. but what a scene!

November 2018 Watchtower study....attacking weak members, their personalities, and apostates
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower society always attempts to disprove or discredit valid arguments or statements by criticizing the ability of individuals to think, reason, ask tough questions and make their own decisions!
if they can't logically attack the message, they attack the messenger!!
the name calling of apostates or anyone who doesn't agree with all the wtbts flip-flops ( the light gets brighter) never stops!

Some were stumbled by an adjusted understanding of a Bible passage.
This is a really great example of "spinning" and gaslighting.
The literal generation of 1914 died off without Armageddon happening. No new interpretation changes this fact of history. Folks started doubting because they believed and preached a lie/falsehood/untruth/(insert not-truth descriptor here) for a few decades.

A Wide-ranging discussion both fascinating and sometimes enlightening
by TerryWalstrom inrubin is a gay atheist formerly affiliated with the young turks, ben shapiro is an orthodox jew who mainly comments on politics from a conservative pov.
dr. jordan b peterson is a professor of psychology at the university of toronto, a clinical psychologist, a public speaker.____none of these men is interested in discussing politics in this discussion, rather in centering on the overlap between rational, secular belief and any underlying religious truth which may be hidden in mythos.i know that sounds like the most boring thing possible--but--i assure you it is riveting.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ophwshr798&t=3112sif you watch through to the last hour, the topic is brilliantly deconstructed with an honesty and intelligence rarely witnessed in live events..

Starting from left to right, we've got Christian Deepak Chopra, an opportunist that thinks building codes is a dumb idea, and somebody that wouldn't go to Rubin's gay anniversary party.

Dysfunctamentalism
by Incognigo Montoya inin reading through many posts over the last few months, i have started to form a viewpoint towards at least some of those witnesses/witness families, who are abusive and overzealous in their thinking.. arguably, many, if not all here, would say all pimi witnesses are overzealous in their thinking, but i sort of disagree with that.
without revealing too much about myself, my parents who are still in (father long time elder, mother regular pioneer), i consider stable and balanced in their views.
while i was shunned to a degree, after being disfellowshipped (they didn't go out to dinner or the movies with me or socialize with me publicly or very often privately, they didn't attend my wedding) they still spoke to me on the phone every few months, as i checked in on them and let them know i was doing alright (i moved out of state in my late teens).

Becoming a JW many times just adds insult to injury.
I know a single (long time) pioneer that became a Witness while finishing up her bachelor's degree at Berkley.
She's been miserable ever since.
It appears that she thinks she's happy, but she exudes misery and loneliness.

'Serving where the need is greater' - who does it benefit?
by eyeslice2 inwe have recently been in asia on vacation, travelling to a number of countries in this part of the world.
whilst in thailand, my wife, totally pimo, wanted to go to the english speaking convention in bangkok.
although i haven't been active for a very long time, i went along with her.. the first thing that slightly surprised me was the attendance, well over 900. i hadn't expected that many but they were from all over the country, which is a pretty big place.

The Reasons for Cart Witnessing
by Simon inwhatever we think of it, you have to admit that it's quite "genius".. the door to door ministry as done in western developed countries where the jw quirky religion has probably reached their saturation level was a complete and utter waste of time in terms of the effort expended to recruit people.. at the same time, it was rarely something that anyone enjoyed which led to people being labelled as inactive, being pressured to doing more and maybe ultimately deciding jwism wasn't for them and leaving.. there was also the issue that many jws are actually pretty bad at knowing and articulating their beliefs so were pretty incapable of getting any meaningful message across.. they solved all this with the cart witnessing.
the real point isn't to recruit, it's to make life easier for jws.
now they can stand and chat with their friend, have a coffee, not talk to anyone or make eye contact and still act as a walking billboard for jw.org.

At this point, cart witnessing is just mostly for the pioneers and "exemplary publishers" in my congregation.
Have yet to be asked to do any.
