that's pretty much where it all began with me and the "truth" , would love to chat regarding people, places and things from times past.

i walked out back in 1997 (i was not living on the island at that time), and would love to hear from only those that have also left the jw"s from the island.

thanks for the reply---oh god do i remeber sister delouch!!!! she and i used to be roommates for circuit assemblies and such. she liked me alot and had alot to say about everybody. her daughter had some problems, and. i remember meeting her and feeling afraid. sister delouch was so spunky!!! she wore a wig and had fake teeth and she looked so different when we went to sleep staying over for the assembly. i remember thinking that. she looked awesome when she was all done up but her appearance changed completely at bedtime!!! it's funny the things you remember. i was trying to think of her name earlier but couldn't .

thanks for replying--your're right i shouldnt limit my replies. jo eldredge studied with me back in the early 80's, and i knew that family pretty well and their kids jason and their daughter's name i forget. i knew the flanders clan quite well. sherry flanders who is married to carl was a pretty good friend of mine . suzie and rob watters i knew very well as we came into the truth at about the same time and we were the same age. joanne diamond and i used to be roommates. also vi landers was a sweetheart. doug keeler married a good friend of mine kelly mass (formerly penelope mass) and her eccrentric mother(sister mass) who died of breast cancer back in 1985 i knew well.. lori flanders was about the same age as me, and a good friend to me at the time. also, i knew lanie bonito and her husband who died of a heartattack a few years ago. she is part owner of linda jeans restuarant in oak bluffs where i used to waitress at one time. chris and nancy rohr (he was an elder and she a pioneer) i think that's their last name,. sister drummand, and the sister who owned the sundog clothing store in edgartown(can't remember her name ). then there's francois and denise (he was a professional tailor and she a pioneer), woody and anna flanders and their kids, then there was roger and ? they had about 4 daughters one whose name is melody and another was layla. tim and janet mclean and his family(altho i heard he left the jw's), it's been about 16 years since i was there. i was only 20 when i began to study and these people impacted my life greatly. it took alot for me to finally go, and i wonder about others and if they're still in and all. i know other names will come to me. it's been a long time since i've given any thought about them. thanks so much for replying. i'll look forward to hearing from you. i'm kind of new at this. my email is:

just wanted to say "welcome" to all the new people who have joined recently whether or not you've mustered up the courage to make your first post yet (it can be daunting).

glad you found us and decided to sign-up!.

thanks for the welcome. i have enjoyed coming to this post. there are so many topics and interesting replies---thanks for setting this up. it helps me to know i'm not alone. this kind of stuff i don't talk about with people that havn't been in--it just takes up too much energy to explain the insanity of having been controlled by the jw's.

i know a couple of sisters who have been canseled by the elders for wearing a little bit to short skirt.

i just wonder what serena's elders think when they see pictures of her like this in magazines.

is she still in good standing?

you say we're tarnishing jehovah's name, but really when you think about it---jehovah is a big boy and can take care of himself---if anything is tarnished here, it is an organization of men who grossly misrepresent themselves to be the sole channel in serving the only true god.

how about adding: you can't have turkey with your "worldly" family on thanksgiving, but it's ok to have it with the "brothers and sisters" on that very same day!!!!

like your reply deddaisy. ahh this is so reminiscent of those great yearbooks re: wwII persecution and the like of god's faithful ones. i fondly remember reading an encounter about how jehovah's angel shielded the eyes of the gestapo to not see the printing press when they raided a place where the "brothers" were sectretly trying to copy the wt. forget about helping the poor "friends" in concentration camps and the like. i mean jehovah does have his priorities you know---he is a busy god---so now i guess he'll be pretty busy trying to get some good pr in with his f@#'in earthy org.and the news media. .

i am kind of new at this post but not at my beliefs and decision to "walk away" back in 1997 from the jw's. why are you returning to the jw's? is it to help your friends and family "get out" and the only way you think you can reach them is to be "in" or do you believe what they teach as actual "truth"?

many still inside facing all the wrongdoings and still go on to the meetings, keep preaching the good news from door-to door and all the duties of the normal jv lives.

are you one of those - or were - that for a long time, what really what made you stay even coming to the point of no-believe in the chronology and the gb?

there were at time of facing the truth of the truth.

easier said than done---i pondered long and hard before making my stand to walk away--it was so freightening as i had to make new friends and make a living (pioneering didn't do much on a resume), i also felt like rip van winkle learning all about the world that had continued on when i lay dormant and not progressive in that controlling mind stunting group. losing all your bros. and sisters and family and friends is quite a monumental loss all at once. but it can be done as is seen here on this post even tho it's so painful and hard. it's worth it !!!!!!!!!
