Wholly:
It looks like you're sticking your tongue out at me.
LOL Bobcat,
I was trying to post a message and had a little mishap...hehe
the nwt often uses the expression "exercise", when it comes to the expression of faith.. "a notable use of that is in john 3:16 - for god loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.".
i started to be intrigued by the expression "exercise faith".
it is true that james wrote that "faith without works is dead", meaning that faith must be more than just an inner feeling or an oral statement; it must be evidenced by works.

I prefer the 1611 King James Version for this reason. The NWT is a corrupt mistranslation that adds and detracts from the Word while simultaneously misinterpreting key spiritual points for the purpose of supporting their satanic doctrines against the Lord himself. I did some basic research to reach this determination.
King James Version (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The English version of the Bible, the KJV Holy Bible (I believe) arrived on the scene in 1611 through God's hand during the reign of King James amid the controversy between RC's and Puritans. King James thought to use the opportunity for personal glory and God blessed him, guided his decisions and allowed this most trusted assemblage of God's word to be created, exist and persist for the English speaking world of believers.
The NWT however, was created based on a flawed version and was further manipulated by unscrupulous and unnamed individuals whose obvious goal was and is, to subvert the message of God.
I highly recommend that everyone obtain and compare the KJV to the NWT. Prepare to be shocked.

and why did you choose it?
if you have a avatar, what is it and why did you pick it?.
ok ill start.
I got the avatar the site designated to me. I picked my screen name because I've never been baptized, so I'm wholly exempt from religious affiliation as an outward and public expression. At least, that's what it means to me.
Most people I know think it's close.
i prayed that 2 japanese men would come to church today, and thank god that 1 said yes so far.............so please pray he and his friend would come not only to church, but to jesus.
and i meet another non christian friend on monday, please pray for her salvation.. .
when asked which is the greatest commandment, jesus replied,.
Matt 7:6 - Wholly
"Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs"
Typical christian arrogance.'
Yes, but don't forget the ♥.

Calm down boys. (Cofty and Satanus) You're exercizing your right to disbelieve. Isn't that wonderful? What if everyone thought the way you do, would you be happy and content then? I somehow don't think so. Being edgy and going against the grain suits you both. The anger and intolerance you routinely exhibit when anyone professes faith in Jesus Christ on this board is hard not to notice. Which makes me curious about your (respective) reasons for participating on a religious issues board. Could it be that you are so angry and empty inside the only way to appease the angst is to lash out at others, like dogs and pigs?
By the way, I was replying to the OP. It's too bad you projected yourselves into those scriptures.

does anyone know why the watchtower named their bible the new world translation of the holy scriptures?
it's been awhile since i have even had any of their books in my home, and most of the time i don't think about it.
i don't know why, but when i think of that title, the phrase new world order keeps popping up in my mind..
Heh. It could very well be a slick, hidden in plain sight, clue.
New World
Translation - 1984
All your thoughts belong to us!
the watchtower states that the great tribulation.... will start when the united nations attacks babylon the great.
it appears individual states of the usa are starting to get that ball rolling right now.. .
with the world wide child sexual abuse cover-ups across the globe getting special attention from the media.. legislators across the usa seem to have lost the fear of getting the nod of disapproval of 'clergy', especially from the younger members.. law professor marci a. hamilton writes, "across the country, the movement for justice for child-sex-abuse victims is finding that conversations that used to begin with a discussion of the catholic bishops' opposition (and then often ended abruptly) are now started by a member's saying, "they don't deserve deference on this issue.
"Who fears the Great Tribulation? Not Jehovah's Witnesses. We will be among the few that survive it." - a watcher
What makes you so sure? My Bible tells me that Jesus' Millenial Kingdom on Earth will decend from Heaven after the Great Tribulation and those whom have put their faith in him will live with him in it. It also tells me that Jesus warned that what was done to him would be done to his faithful ones even to death in the last days. He prepared those who believe in him to expect imprisonment, torture and death and that those who lose their lives on his account will save it.
Your GB has taken the place of our Savior in your doctrine and teachings. In my experience and understanding of the JW Doctrine, Jesus is merely the relayer of your prayers to your God and is not recognized as your only hope for salvation or survival of the Great Tribulation.
The "elect" are Jews who accept Jesus as their messiah in the last days and turn to him before the Great Tribulation and on their account the "days will be cut short".
But if it makes you happy, warm and comfy to believe you are following Biblical instruction, more power to you. You'll need it.
i had the chance to speak with a circuit overseer, he was not my circuit overseer and it was my chance to get the offical party line why the watchtower joined the united nations.. .
"are you a jehovah witness he asked me?
(theocratical warfare allows lies according to the gb!
It grieves my soul to know these good hearted people choose to be so fully deceived.
