Judicial Meeting
by Kool Jo inso here you are...sitting with a couple of elders at judicial meeting, and you're asked the following question:.
"do you still believe that the fds is the channel that jehovah is using"?.
now is it possible to answer 'no' without being df, or how would you answer that question?.

You could say you would like the scriptures that show why the FDS is Jehovah's channel to reaffirm your beliefs. You'd like to study and pray and wait on Jehovah before you commit yourself to an answer. Then blink slowly.
I would say, "Absolutely not, that's blasphemy". Jesus is our only channel and the Holy Spirit our only guide to God's mind.

Can anyone explain this reasoning?
by Honesty inwhen a jw goes from door to door on a daily basis, they are called pioneers and it is a good thing.. it is an act of love when they share their knowledge with householders.. .
however, if that pioneer learns more about the watchtower society's beliefs when compared with the bible and tries to share that knowledge with current members he is attacking his brothers and sisters and is mentally diseased.. when he shares his knowledge about the watchtower society's involvement with the un and other political entities with the brothers and sisters it is called an act of hate.. in both instances, we have similar actions and motivations but the watchtower society comes to completely different conclusions.. does it have anything to do with control or is it related to something else?.

I asked my sister if those people who show interest at the door are thought of as apostates to their chosen religions when they accept a tract study. She changed the subject.

The B.O.B. is a great idea for everyone. Preparing to survive nature's fickleness has been man's preoccupation since the beginning. It's only been the last century when civilization moved away from natural knowledge of his surroundings. The ideological awareness has slowly been given over to others to sound warnings at times of impending peril.
What bothers me most is that people seem to believe it's normal to trust someone else with their welfare. Whether it's the Weatherman or the Governing Body sounding the warning bell, people blindly trust them for accurate forecasts.
Since JW's have been awaiting the Great Tribulation for so long, obviously this warning will be taken as gospel of something not stated, but implied. Like sheep, they will flock closer together in tight little groups for safety, planning meeting places and items to store, etc. Excitedly murmuring about how CLOSE IT IS NOW!!!

Family is drawing the line in the sand
by dissonance_resolved inso my family has obviously been noticing over the past several months that i've been missing meetings and fs.
i've had excuses sometimes, but not others, so my parents are definitely getting that this is more than a long bout of illnesses or fatigue.
i just received an email invitation to join them in service this weekend.

You could honestly say that you have a private issue you are dealing with and don't wish to discuss it.

Are you really an Apostate, according to the WT ?
by Phizzy inperusing the coverage of the 2013 dc spewings about apostates, the wt claims that apostates are "liars" and speak "twisted things".
this is their definition of apostates.. now, the reality is that sites such as paul's excellent jwfacts.com, books like coc and isocf, by ray franz, the works of olaf jonsson, penton and others, all write what is true !.
we are careful on here to present that which is true, at least i hope we are !.

I dont' consider myself an apostate. I consider myself a survivor of the emotional, intellectual and mental abuse wreaked on me by some dedicated, baptized, pioneering Ones' interpretation of our Lord and his Promise.
After a 20 year break from the "truth", the changes were so abrupt and "in your face" it was hard not to feel repelled. Especially when the talks and study materials seemed to intend to drill home the fact that you can't trust yourself to know God or do his will without (not Jesus) the GB.
Also, considering the fact that the actual definition of the word has been subverted to fit an agenda doesn't sit well with me. I don't trust anyone who ascribes an ambiguous meaning to a well defined word.

How to End “the Silent Treatment” ~ Wha?
by enigma1863 inthe irony is so thick you can cut a knife with it.
the watchtower must have some real cognitive dissonance.

Reports from JW's regarding the summer convention
by Lynnie inso, we're in the final countdown with the convention just over a month away.
i've talked to a few folks that have already attended it on the east coast and west coast and keep hearing that its the most up-building program they've ever been to.
seems the message is clear that we need to stop being so hard on ourselves and take time to appreciate the efforts we have put in and know that we are deeply loved.

John 3:16 - "EXERCISE faith"...??
by EdenOne inthe nwt often uses the expression "exercise", when it comes to the expression of faith.. "a notable use of that is in john 3:16 - for god loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.".
i started to be intrigued by the expression "exercise faith".
it is true that james wrote that "faith without works is dead", meaning that faith must be more than just an inner feeling or an oral statement; it must be evidenced by works.

I would agree that both of our avatars are strange! lol If I knew how, I'd upload an avatar of a beautiful cat, which represents me a little more accurately.

What personal experiences have you had with 6th sense?
by Fernando ini was at work one day at a seafood wholesaler (some years ago).
there was considerable tension in the air.. another worker briefly left the workplace.
he could simply have gone to the toilet or for a smoke.. without seeing where he'd gone, or what he was doing, or hearing what he was saying, i instinctively knew he had instead gone upstairs to see a particular manager.

Things like that happen to me all the time. It's almost normal. I know who is calling when the phone rings, for example. It just happens periodically and I don't control it. I have noticed that when I go against "it", problems are not far behind!
