Very draining conversation.
by CC Ryder ini had a very emotionally draining conversation over the phone with my mother yesterday.
she is not a jw, she is a international bible student (russelite).
i have not got into such a deep conversation with her since i have been out of the borg.

This is off topic.. but what an interesting post!!! Wow! I never knew that there was still an active russelite religion and their teachings sound...well... different! Hmm! I have some research to do!
I hope you find a way of dealing with this, I have no advice but to keep doing what your doing and vent here when you get upset!
((((hugs))))

Just saw a 'Ghost' or something....
by Crazy151drinker inok the weirdest thing just happened to my coworker and i. we went to go pickup our breakfast from accross the street.
when we got back to our building we walked over to the elevators and as we turned the corner we saw someone get into the elevator before it closed.
we didnt see the person exactly but we saw their leg or whatever passthrough before the door closed.

I agree with pleasuredome, to dismiss something we don't understand is ignorant... there are many things in this world we have no idea about yet....

Pioneering---Did It Make A Difference In Your Life
by minimus inmany of us pioneered.
some here pioneered as "vacation", "temporary", "auxillary", "regular" or even "special" roles.
nearly everyone was expected to pioneer, if you were to stay in the good graces of the congregation.

I was happy pioneering, but I was also one of those fanatical, gleam in their eye cult like followers who was trying to "redeem" myself for having a secret boyfriend at school. My mom made me quit school when she found out, and I started pioneering, I was a zombie... studying all the time, made every meeting, had a part almost every week, went out in field service every single day... hmmm. I THOUGHT I was happy... maybe I was just to busy to notice.....

Theocratically Approved JW Party (Gathering) Games

well, it's just another post-dumb-scans-from-wt-literature/caption/amusing comments thread.
to get the ball rolling is this image from the 1986 publication, true peace and security: how can you find it?.

by nightwarrior inyou dont need to be dissfelowshiped to be shunned ( why & how ).

My whole family was shunned, my mom was being investigated for apostasy because she started partaking. Even my grandma who didn't even live with us. I was a regular auxilary pioneer and my dad was a ministeral servant. We walk in the hall and NO ONE would speak to us. When we sat down people closer than two rows away would move their books. It was awful. Of course my mom being the crazy person she is decided we were being persucuted. So she made us sit in the front row, not bow our heads to the prayers and not sing. Needless to say the whole congregation would stare at us. My dad was removed from position for "not controlling his family". My mom and I would meet for field service every single day anyway. No one would speak to us. We would just meet and then go back home. What a weird time. She was eventually disfellowshipped. But it was later recended.... another story for another topic. Sorry for rambling.

Your LAST door

I don't remember my last day of field service but I do remember my last meeting. I remember having an anxiety attack before the meeting, and while at it, I remember thinking how much I hated it. I remember thinking for the first time.. should't worship be something enjoyable? shouldn't it be something from your heart, freely given? I was SO tired of being made to feel guilty for not doing enough... never ever enough... whew. now I LOVE sundays.

My husband doesn't understand this...
by starfish422 inmy husband does not understand what my attraction is to this board.
i come and go on the boards, i'm not a regular by any means, but i find that the boards are a catharsis for me.
my hubby was never in the borg, and he doesn't understand how talking about it, and comparing experiences, and poking fun at the craziness of it all, can interest me.

If this site was only a site where people only bashed witnesses or even only talked about religion, I'd get bored with it quick. Its a place where a lot of really neat people gather to talk.. about whatever... that understand each other because of similiar backgrounds and experiences.
