I believe i have higher values as an Atheist. Sure I do things like drink and party now that I'm not a JW, but I genuinely care more for people and do things right because I know in my heart its right or wrong not because someone told me. I also don't feel burdened with rules I can't follow so I'm not constantly try to wiggle my way out from under them. I don't feel the need to rebel. I'm also not as Judgemental, I can't believe how narrow minded I was as a JW, it just makes me sick.

Moral Values of an Atheist
by hamilcarr insome thoughts spinning through my head .... what does it mean to be an atheist?
it means you cannot imagine your homosexual neighbor being slaughtered by a loving god at judgment's day, it means you don't consider the primitive tribe described in numbers 31 that slew midianite men and raped innocent virgins to be god's first covenant people, it means you don't believe mankind is so perverted that it is in need of salvation through a man who came 'not with peace, but with a sword', it means you have high moral values that apply not only to the members of your denomination but to all men.. h. .

Jehovah's Witnesses get persecuted more by their own religion
by MsMcDucket indon't you agree?
it's like being married to an abuser.
he/she keeps asking you to do things that you know are not right, they say that they hurt you because you deserved it, they keep asking you for all your money to prove that you love them, they shut you off from your family--leaving you broke with no where to run, they play twisted mind games (if you don't do it, you must not love me.).

Thats a great point. No wonder so many of us have lasting relationship problems after getting away.

Two years out of the org for me. What I have learned & accepted about life!
by jambon1 inif i had written this a year ago, i would be writting different comments about my observations.. yet, that is the pivotal point for me.
that is the reason why i could never have remained a jw.
my point?

Don't be something you don't want to be.
I love this!! If I can ever learn to live by it I'll be okay. I"m going to staple it to my forehead.

was anyone actually proud and happy to be spreading the word(ministry)
by looloo ini can only think of one person who actually seemed to have "joy in her heart "on the min when i studied , and even the dubs used to hate being put with this person, it all seems so obvious now that it has nothing to do with a love for god , but doing whats expected of you

For about two years when I was trying to find meaning in life, I totally immersed myself in field service and meetings. I'd actually cry if I missed a meeting. I realize now I was just using it as a crutch, to belong to something, to feel like I had the answers. I'm disgusted at how self righteous I felt. YUCK.

My First Counselling Session. EDMR anybody?
by Crumpet inso it hadn't escaped my attention that two weeks ago i was melting faster than a snowman on a lava flow path.. i had to do something.
i ended up in hospital.
i hoped this would mean i'd get help, not just medication, which i've tried for 6 months and hasn't really helped.

Brillant post! I've no experience with EDMR, sorry, but I wanted to tell you that your description of the high's and lows of bipolar were right on that I held my breath while reading. I've suffered so much from this disease and it was amazing to see it described so exactly. Just no that you aren't the only one, if that's comforting at all. I'm always available by PM if you need someone to talk to.

I haven't, I was always guilty, but that is so wrong! My mom was wrongly disfellowshipped for apostasy because she started partaking. They had no evidence at all of her being an apostate except that she was exceptionally annoying.

Ever had one of those days? (Just a vent)
by Layla33 inoh how happy i am to be home, i never ever thought i would make it in.
it started off nice enough, i was supposed to have a pre-valentine day salsa party night with some friends.
i was a bit excited, but i kept checking the weather and it was a little shaky.

That sucks. When living in Denver I had to walk about 12 blocks home from work and when it is snowing and sleeting at 20 degrees after work, I just couldn't wait to go to bed! I feel ya!
