When I told them I now attend a baptist church, they said I worship demons now. And that I would have to denounce being a JW. I didn't. In fact, I asked if I had to tell the JW about it when I got saved and this lady said "I didn't tell the catholics" lol! But, definitely not positive!

What surprising reactions have you experienced from family and friends?
by cultBgone inmusing over several rather eye-opening reactions i've recently experienced has made me wonder what others have been told that made them go...wow.. my earliest was a family member upset with me for not attending meetings who exclaimed, "but you're going to die at armageddon!
" i told them that wasn't true because the bible says that god is love and he doesn't work that way.
they were very angry with me!

I would think that they would say that the end would most certainly come then. Because when "Peace and security" are announced, the end will come.

Trinitarians! Who is Jesus Christ's father the Holy Spirit or the Father?
by booker-t inthis is one question that trinitarians try to avoid because they have created a very embarrassing problem.
the bible is very clear when the angel tells mary that holy spirit will overshadow her and she will become pregnant.
the angel does not say the father will overshadow her but the holy spirit will and if the holy spirit is a person that would make him the father of jesus.

Jesus says in John 20:28, 29 - Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" 29 Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they that did not see and believed
I have studied. To the point of getting sick and obsessed from so much study. Then the conclusion was made as to what I do actually believe. No one told me to believe this way, I found it for myself. And now, I settle on a few truths as my foundation. There are some subjects and theology that can be speculated endlessly and this is fun sometimes and new information is learned, but at a certain point, you go back to your foundation of truth.

Isn't faith, by definition, believing in something that one has not seen? If so, then I will happily have blind faith.

Well, we are called to be peacemakers, and who knows, maybe you will argue against anything I say. I said what was most important. I do like to debate, but I'm probably not smart enough. I don't know everything. I never will. So I concede that I don't know. But I love God, and I believe Jesus died so that we can have eternal life. I believe in the holy spirit and that he lives inside of us. That's enough for me.

So, I may have unknowingly become a heretic. But, I have lied, so I am a lier, I have lusted, therefore I have committed adultery. I am so glad that Jesus came and lived a perfect life so that I don't have to, because it would be impossible. I am so glad that I am 100% forgiven! Praise God!!

Also, there's this that makes sense about it:
“We don't use the words begetting or begotten much in modern English, but everyone still knows what they mean. To beget is to become the father of: to create is to make. And the difference is this. When you beget, you beget something o the same kind as yourself. A man begets human babies, a beaver begets little beavers and a bird begets eggs which turn into little birds. But when you make, you make something of a different kind from yourself. A bird makes a nest, a beaver builds a dam, a man makes a wireless set – or he may make something more like himself than a wireless set: say, a statue. If he is clever enough carver he may make a statue which is very like man indeed. But, of course, it is not a ream man; it only looks like one. It cannot breathe or think. It is not alive.
Now that is the first thing to get clear. What God begets is God; just as what man begets is man. What God creates is not God; just as what man makes is not man. That is why men are not Son's of God in the sense that Christ is. They may be like God in certain ways, but they are not things of the same kind. They are more like statues or pictures of God.” -

We are created in God's image. In Genesis, God says "let US create man in OUR image." This says a lot to me since we are created in God's image and he is saying "us" and "our"
This is only one example where God is shown to be plural, but one.
Also, in Genesis, it say "God created the heavens and earth" but in Colossians, it mentioned that all things (not all other things, mind you) were created through Jesus. So if Jesus created the heavens and earth, then he must also be God.
Those 2 things were proof enough for me.
Of course, in nature, an egg proved it to me also. There is a shell, a yolk and the white. All one egg.

New light?
by Ignoranceisbliss inmy father who is an elder with decent organizational connections mentioned that very soon there would be "new light" regarding the resurrected being able to be married.
this would make sense because our current understanding has never made any sense to me.
has any one else heard anything about that?.

What is the current understanding? It's that we won't be able to be married, right? I knew a lady in our hall who believed she would be married to her 2nd dead husband, even though the bible said otherwise. What would the "new light" on the subject be?
