For those who are STILL believing Christians...
by BoogerMan inthe latest watchtower of august 2020 discusses on page 15, "how will the resurrection likely take place?".
since learning real truths as opposed to the org's version of truth, has your view of the resurrection changed significantly?
just one example - regardless of psalm 37:9,11,29: matthew 5:5 & revelation 21:3,4, do you now believe that our destination is heaven rather than earth?.

Well, there's this idea in the Bible of heaven and earth becoming one. In the garden of Eden, man, God, and the whole host of heaven lived together, but then got separated (exiled). And eventually we will all live together again. New Jerusalem is seen coming down from heaven onto the new earth. There's going to be a feast at some point, so that sounds cool, too. Exodus mentions a feast that Moses and a few others had with God on the mountain, so this speaks to that. It's really interesting! The Bible Project does these cute cartoon videos on various themes running throughout the Bible. I had not noticed them before!
But who knows?! We read the word, the promises made and we have hope. We see glimpses of realities to come (for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear). It makes life whimsical and full of wonder!
But, just a question for atheists:
Believers sometimes have doubts about their belief, and that's ok. Do atheists ever have doubts about their unbelief? Even for a second? Just wondering!

Will You Constantly Wear A Mask?
by minimus intoday, it will be 90 degrees and humid!
this morning i’ll be playing tennis again.
while most people have been holed up in their houses, i have regularly played the sport outside.

I wear a mask 80 percent of the time to grocery stores. It isn't mandatory here. I wear the mask to love others who are more sensitive. But you see I am not that great at it because I don't always wear it.

The ransom makes no sense
by BourneIdentity inif mankind needed to be redeemed from sin and death, why didn't the redemption happen as soon as jesus successfully lived his entire life without sin and sacrificed his life?
if he was successful, the price was paid and we'd all be living forever.
it's all bullshit, or jesus fucked up and sinned, so it nullified his sacrifice.

Cofty, while I know you don't believe in Jesus, I think you did a great job explaining his sacrifice using the Bible and the old sacrificial system! :)

The Joseph, story, as exploited by wt
by waton inthe current treatment of the "joseph " story at the wt meetings, uses him as an example of jws suffering, holding up under attack.
i reality the wt outfit is not the victim, but fits the 10 brothers that expelled, nearly killed that original whistleblower.
our example here, who prospered in different ways outside the wtbts inc's sphere of influence.

I will usually tell the Joseph story to people I talk to in jail or if someone is going through a lot of suffering. It shows God's sovereignty - that he had a plan that was going to save a lot of lives. This story is actually a foreshadowing of the story of Jesus. It's a great story and then the famous line at the end What you meant for evil, God meant for good!! -

Jehovah's Witnesses DENY the Physical Bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ
by JW Answers inthe jehovah's witnesses are taught by their organisation that christ's body was disposed by jehovah god, they deny the physical bodily resurrection and explain that he rose again as a spirit creature.
as we take into account what the watchtower teach, i explain from the bible that christ rose again from the grave in his body, and showing forth that the jehovah's witnesses are in error.

I love that we still are discussing this!! It really brings atheists and Christians together, albeit usually in argument form, but still! :)

Will you attend the Memorial 2020 ? - Covid-19 (Coronavirus)
by bats in the belfry in... or rather listen to the advice on their jw news website:.
show love to others.
while we all know the importance of attending christian meetings and participating in the public ministry, if you are sick, it is best to stay home to avoid infecting others.

I am curious to see if my mom invites me this year. I have gone to the last 5, I would say. But this time I am df'd and my parents probably have labeled me an apostate, so I doubt it!

In short, yes. Between my controlling family and the world of JW, I felt like I was wearing a straight jacket. I escaped from both when I was 19. But, it's only in the last year or 2 that I finally feel free and I am 40.
