Do ASL dubs recruit more aggressively than other dubs?
by truthseeker inasl = american sign language for those who don't know.. i read a recent post on dubs knocking at doors and asking if anyone knew asl.. here's my experience.. .
i attended a jw sponsored asl course about 4 years ago in a neighboring congregation.
there were about 15 students in total.. the lesson was not to exceede 3 hours and afterwards we would go straight out into service.. the lessons were fun and we were given homework assignments to learn the various signs etc.

without giving away too much a lot of the ASL push is being driven from a financial perspective...the better their OWN interpreters are the more they are worth in the WORLD making money...and with the astronomical prices that people are willing to pay for interpreters it is an un-noticed cash cow that will continue to keep the society running...on the backs of whoever they have to use...anyhow...

Has Shunning Caused Anyone to Miss Seeing a Parent Before Their Death?
by jamiebowers inreading about the passing of wings' mom got me to thinking.
my mother has shunned me completely for the past 20 years with the exception of three conversations about health history.
if i outlive my mom, the probability is great that she will die without me ever seeing or talking to her in any kind of meaningful way.

yes...I saw my father for the first time after easily 10 years of being shunned in his casket after a motorcycle accident claimed his life...being shunned for all those years had left me with little desire to see him at all...it was some random fluke of humanity that convinced me to go see his body. I have as of late regained quite a bit more of my family but none of it would be there had he not died...tough to live with...guess we have to be the better people...

Well guess who just knocked on my door....
by Ima Apostate inof course you know the answer... how ironic.
i swear, jehovah's witnesses only come when i'm hanging out in sweatpants and a tank top with no bra on.
if i am wearing a bra, they don't come.

Ahhhh the ASL sign language congregations are making their attack upon unsuspecting hearing ones in the community...those dvds are a sight to behold...light years ahead of anything that other mainstream religions have...I have many MANY years and experience with the deaf and the hearing response withiin the JW organization to that communication barrier...sigh.
There are many here who have talked about the demise of the Society and money etc not being there but as long as there are Interpreters working within the society there will be an almost endless supply of money for them to keep the society printing its magazines...sigh...anyhow....sorry if this is a hijack of this thread...so many memories in the deaf world...sigh...

If given this choice, which one would you choose?
by journey-on inif you had to live life without one of your five senses, which one would you choose to give up.....sight, hearing, smell, touch, or taste?
and why?.
do you think your view of the world would be a different reality?.

Would You Trust A JW To Be Honest More Than The Average Person?
by minimus ini know many very honest jws.
if i had someone do work for me, clean my home, etc.----i'd generally be more at ease with a faithful jw over most others.
in the matter of housekeeping, i'd think that they might be nosier but i doubt they'd outrightly steal from me.. what's your thought on this subject?.
