Hi "Rick"
Welcome Friend,
I, took, lurked for a time before actually participating..he,he. I am glad I took the plunge and joined in -
and think you will be also. Looking forward to your future postings.
hello to all.. i have been a lurker here for about 2 weeks and been so impressed at the friendship shown and the honest debate i thought i would join in.. my name is rick and my jw story is at http://www.jwfiles.com/jws-leaving/rick.htm if your interested.
it also saves a lot of unecessary typing here.. i use the user name of mr angry so as not to be confused with the rick that was on h20.
to confuse the matter further rick is not my real name as i have family still in the truth (how i hate that term) and i dont wish my real identity to be revealed at this stage.
Hi "Rick"
Welcome Friend,

i am doing some research on neanderthals.
we know that this species existed and by very recent dna test we can tell that they are definitely not human.has any one done anything on this subject or the accuracy of carbon dating?
Alert this is Larc posting under Zazzu's name. I ran out of posts.
Uncle Onion,
I believe that the words of Paul in First Corinthians the Thirteenth Chapter where Paul tells us what love is, are inspired. I believe that Jesus's words about love, mercy, and forgiveness are inspired. I don't think the rest of it matters.
does it seem plausible to you that some of the society's apparent flip-flops on doctrine are simply errors by the writing department?.
for instance, take the question of whether the inhabitants of sodom and gomorrah will be resurrected.
around 1989, the revised edition of you can live forever in paradise said no, the insight book said something else and the revelation climax book said something else.
"Comment" welcome to the 'room.'
Your thoughts make a lot of sense to me! Zeeesh, there is so, so much written material they are producing - I can easily imagine the scenario you described. I'm sure it accounts for at least some of the flip-flops.
Recently, someone here posted a link with the rule book for those at Bethel - an individual's day starts very early and continues quite late - plus all the meetings, field-service, talks, visits to congregations, etc. So, I can easily picture a 'writer' having some problems with a thorough research job for a variety of reasons...as you suggested above.
Of course, I must admit I like it when they are caught tripping over their own feet, ha,ha.
Looking forward to your future postings.
i just finished reading the thread started by seven regarding therapy.
i saw that many of you have gone to counseling as well.
still others are cautious about it.
To all,
Some very fine points and advice posted above. The only thing I wanted to add is that therapists vary in their individual approaches - if you seek one out and feel uncomfortable with him/her then quickly end your sessions. It would be beneficial to 'shop around.'
You have every right to question them about their experience with situations similar to yours, knowledge re cult-like backgrounds and therapy 'style.'
Rollercoaster, dear friend, good to see you posting again.:):) Just sent you an e-mail!
we have the silentlambs website up and running at www.silentlambs.org.
it will have more to offer as it is developed.
soon to come pinpoint a pedophile......i will let you know how it works when we get it on the site.
Silentlambs,
Thank you so much for your continued efforts to expose and bring this issue to the forefront. I have been skipping to-and-fro, attempting to keep up with the latest info. Your site should make it a little easier for all. Your sincerity, concern and dedication is certainly appreciated.
((((((Hugs))))) to you and yours'.
Rob, a warm welcome to you.
Yes, the 'feeling of freedom' is great, isn't it!!
I am the wife of poster 'larc' - we are planning on visiting the "Thinkers'" in the near future. Do you live nearby? - if so, it would be nice to meet you too. Our daughter owns a health food store in Yellow Springs, OH - I'm sure we would have much to talk about.
Look forward to your future posts.
this post is primarily for those folk on this board, who post copious quantities of jw info on this board.. .
i can understand your wanting to help present jws and those looking for info on the organisation, but this is not the place for posting reams and reams of info.
most of us here know already this stuff.
Englishman,
Thanks for the 'low down' - I took notes in order to figure out who is who. LOL
(Just in case you Brits' have a different meaning for low down??? LOL again.)
U.S. slang meaning "the whole truth."
http://www.wcg.org/lit/aboutus/roots.htm .
often times jw will state that they are not a break off from any religion ,but a re-establishment of the "church".
well here is some info you can put in your file for ref later.
Thank you JT!
Think I'll make some copies and tape one in the back of "Proclaimers" book at area libraries. LOL (Having worked in libraries for years, I know this is typically an accepted practice...if done neatly.)
Though I am trying to be invisible to JW's trying to reach me at my 'door'
(attempt to evade being formally disassociated) - if they 'catch' me outside during the upcoming warm weather - I WILL give them a copy.
Thanks again - always enjoy your posts.

Prisca,
I, am generally in agreement with your thoughts. What I have been chagrined by are posts that are ad hominem in nature, attacking the individual as much as his/her message.
Was this style 'polular' at H20? I only visited there once via a link on this forum. Someone was discussing agnosticism or atheism; the poster commented that to understand the development of Christianity one needed to research Egyptian history relating to the time of Christ. There was some sort of comment such as 'if you don't believe me, check this out' (not exact wording - just the idea.) So, thinking I would find a site pertaining to Egypt's history - I opened the link only to be greeted with a blow-up pic showing me the "F" finger. No real harm done, I'm a big girl...exposed to it all the time while waiting for a bus when the high-schoolers' are standing around...trying to act so 'cool.' In fact, what actually offended me was the fact that I (perhaps, perceived) felt I was deceived or misled. So, that was my first and last time on the H20 forum. I'm sure not everyone there lacked manners...but I get the idea from some comments of new posters that it was a a different sort of place.
I have enjoyed many of the new posters - 'Norm' comes to mind - he presents very thought provoking information from the WTBS' publications. And, there are others who are bringing up personal experiences and great research. Thank you all. Hoping we can stay a respectful, 'friendly' place to share....Zazu
those of us who have frequented h2o and have otherwise encountered our fundie friends from the usa have many times been reminded of their strange arguments and ideas.
all of them seem to long back to biblical times and particularly the times of the old testament.
they have got the idea that those days were so wonderful when everybody was adhering to biblical morals, values and such.
Norm,
Thanks for the post - very thought provoking, eh?
Steve Allen was a most remarkable man - entertaining, intelligent, talented and compassionate; well-liked and respected by all who knew him. He wrote more than 50 books - on a variety of topics. Many are still available.
Check out his official web site:

A trip down memory lane for some of us!
