a critique of suzi mayhem's theory of god .
i thought, when suzi first posted this, that it was a joke something like john cleese's classic "brontosaurus theory" skit in a monty python episode.
but mr. "dark clouds" has sort of asked me to critique it as if it were a serious theory, so here goes.. i'll address this to suzi, but suzi dear, don't take this too seriously.

Friends, I was impressed when Logical posted this first time around, and in 'chat' asked if he would do so again, on this thread. It makes all the sense in the 'world'...doesn't it!!! How 'violated' can you be if you can't receive/give a simple 'hello' to another individual...no matter what the reasons you (they) might pose. Zeeeesh, shame on any person or organization that would go this far!!!
So, fellow posters, what can we do about it? I mean, we have the official website of the WTBTS, and the
"we don't break up families" ...sure... I think we should ALL give some thought/response to this. Any thoughts on how to go about accomplishing this?
My thoughts are not so simplistic as to expect a direct response from the Borg, they don't even allow us a direct forum to communicate with them, such as an 1-on1 e-mail, but I for one intend to take Logical's research and write them,...will let you know if I get any response, ha,ha.

i remember the date, may 15, 1991, it was the date my wife miscarried and a young life was lost.
there was no funeral, few remarks of support.
i will never forget the remark of my mother, well it never was really a baby after all.

Thanks for sharing your touching tribute with us. My son and daughter-in-law lost a child due to a miscarriage last year; I know what a sad time it was...it was painful to see the grief so plainly exposed on their faces. Joyfully, she is now expecting - due late next month, a little boy.
I can't help but think that perhaps your own loss has been an inspiration of sorts in your courageous stance against WTBTS policies that let children suffer such evil.
My birthday is October 10...I'm sure I will think of you and your wife, and what you are feeling, at some point during that day. (((((Hugs)))))

I, too, would be so happy if they changed their policy re association.
You say you disassociated in 1981, well consider yourself fortunate your parents didn't totally shun you at that time. For, it was in the Watchtower, September 15, 1981 issue that the WTBTS, for the first time, 'mandated' all witnesses to treat disassociated ones just as if they were disfellowshipped... to be totally shunned.
From that date on our JW relatives didn't speak to us for over ten years! Eventually my JW sister-in-law needed help caring for her very ill mother, and she then called me to ask for my help alternating caregiving with her. And, just since last summer we have noticed that, if we call her, fine, but she never initiates a call.
If you have "Crisis of Conscience" by Raymond Franz, you can read about the change on p.308. Or, perhaps someone could post the above mentioned Tower article...I no longer have a copy.
Not too long ago, someone on this forum posted that at their District Assembly it was once again emphasized "no contact with disfellowshipped and disassociated persons" - so they are still reinforcing this position.
Hope you don't mind me asking: Why do you think your folks 'ignored' their counsel back in 1981? Maybe they thought there was hope you would return??

today, april 20th, is the fourth anniversary of a very special day in my life.. the anniversary of my rebirth.. this rebirth was not a religious experience, but it was something totally pure, amazing and healing.. it had nothing at all to do with the society, or rather, of freeing myself from it.
it was however, a giant first step in that direction.. today is the fourth anniversary of the day i got letter that changed everything.
the words on the pages were alive, and magical: they released me from my old life and for the first time.

I've been meaning to come back and post it myself. This one book cleared up so many issues for me. It changed the way I view people and events dramatically.
Yes, I consider it a 'must' and have recommended it to so many people - especially for those with parent issues/histories. I first read it many years ago, but often take it off the shelf for a review session in 'fortitude.' :)
